90 degree76Getting StartedWe know you are excited to experience your new Academia. These two easy steps will get you up and running quickly.Step 1: Unfold It The Academia has a fully foldable and rotatable design, please take following steps to unfold it and adjust the light pole: • Slide the light panel to open: •  Pull up the light pole and adjust the angle you wantStep 2: Power ItConnect your Academia to an outlet using the included power adapter.Step 3: Connect it There are two options for connecting to your Academia—wirelessly by Bluetooth© or wired using the included aux cable.Connect WirelesslyOption 1: Bluetooth© connectionOnce the Academia is powered on the Bluetooth indicator will pairing mode will sound. Go to the Bluetooth settings on your successfully. Next time the Academia and connected device will pair automatically. Hold the Play/Pause button for 5 seconds will disconnect the connected device and enter pairing mode for pairing a new device.Option 2: NFC connectionTurn on the Bluetooth and NFC in your NFC enhanced device, just touch the NFC area on Academia, it will connect automatically. Touch the NFC area again to disconnect the device.Please take the manual of your device for NFC option.
98 • Answering a call: Tap play/pause button to answer the incoming call. • Ending a call : Tap play/pause button during the call to end the call.Speaker Phone (cont.) • Rejecting a call : Hold play/pause button to reject the incoming call. • Redial last number: Double tap play/pause button to redial last number when it is not in a call.LED LightPress the dimmer button to adjust the brightness by following order: high-middle-low-off.As long as the power is connected, you can control the light separately.Audio UseFollow the above connection steps to pair a Bluetooth device with the Academia. At this point you can send any kind of audio signal to your speaker (music, video, gaming, etc.). Just use your device as normal and the audio will play through your Academia.Operation DetailsPower on / Power offPress the power button to turn on the Academia.The Bluetooth indicator will light up to signify the unit is on and ready to be paired. Press the power button again to turn off the unit and the Bluetooth indicator light will go out.Play modesBluetooth mode: play an audio signal from the connected Bluetooth© device.AUX mode: play an audio signal from the connected “wired” device.Please note, if an Aux cable is connected to the speaker it will not play music from Bluetooth© connected devices.Speaker PhoneAfter pairing your mobile phone to Academia via Bluetooth, the speaker phone function can be used. • Making a call: Calls will automatically transfer to the speakerphone. If not, tap play/pause button.Operation Details (cont.)Direct ConnectionThe Academia can also be connected to any device that has a headphone jack or line out using the included aux cable.Please note the play/pause button only operates when connected via Bluetooth.
1110ControlsPress the Play/Pause button to play or pause the music when using a music player through your Bluetooth© connected device.Pressing the + and - buttons will increase or decrease the volume on the Academia. Please note that this will not affect the volume levels on the connected device.Charging Your DeviceThe Academia features two standard USB charging ports at the back  • The port with 5V,2.1A output is better for your device needs larger charging power like iPads • The port with 5V, 1A output is good for charging your cellphone, like iPhones, iPods and smartphones.Please reference the instructions of device for details.  The charging cable is not included.ConnectionLaptop / notebook / PCAs the Bluetooth versions for these types of devices varies greatly, the connection methods will differ as well. If you can not connect with the Academia using the previous method instructed you may need to install a new version of the Bluetooth driver.Please reference the instructions of device for details.Change the Frame: You can easily change the front frame of Academia, just pull out the frame and insert the new one.
1312TroubleshootingIssue: Pairing is unsuccessfully after multiple attemptsSolution:  • Check if the Bluetooth© indicator light is on. If the indicator light is off, please press the power button to turn the unit on. If the Bluetooth© indicator light still doesn’t come on after pressing the power button, please charge the unit. • Check for other Bluetooth© devices around the surroundings that may interfere with searching and turn devices off. • Power off and then power on the unit to restart the Bluetooth© function of the unit or your Bluetooth device • Unplug any cables plugged into the AUX IN, restart all devices and then attempt pairing again.Issue: Interference or static during playbackSolution: • Avoid using the device between concrete or other building structures that may interfere with the signal. • Please check if the battery level of the unit and the Bluetooth© device and charge if necessary.For more troubleshooting help go to http://bemwireless.comMaintenancePlease follow the instructions below for cleaning your Academia. • Power off the unit and unplug the power adapter from  wall outlet • Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth and wipe gently • Do not use alcohol, benzene, thinners or other chemical detergents as these can cause the casing to be warped  or discoloredFor questions, comments or to purchase more bem wireless products go to bemwireless.comStorage • Power off the Academia if the unit will not be used for an extended period of time. • Do not set the unit in a damp environment, high temperatures or in direct sunlight.
