WARNING
WARNING
Keep heater away from equipment.
ELECTRICAL SHOCK HAZARD
Do not open the equipment.
A heater can melt the equipment's power
cord, which can cause fire or electrical
shock.
Only qualified personnel
should work inside the
equipment.
Use the proper fuse.
Turn off the radar power
switch before servicing the
antenna unit. Post a warning sign near the switch
indicating it should not be
turned on while the antenna
unit is being serviced.
Fuse rating is shown on the equipment.
Use of a wrong fuse can result in equipment
damage.
Make sure no rain or water splash leaks
into the equipment.
Prevent the potential risk of
being struck by the rotating
antenna and exposure to
RF radiation hazard.
Fire or electrical shock can result if water
leaks in the equipment.
Immediately turn off the power at the
switchboard if water leaks into the
equipment or something is dropped in
the equipment.
CAUTION
Do not use the equipment for other than
its intended purpose.
Continued use of the equipment can cause
fire or electrical shock. Contact a FURUNO
agent for service.
Use of the equipment as a stepping stool,
for example, can result in personal injury
or equipment damage.
Do not disassemble or modify the
equipment.
No one navigation device should ever be
solely replied upon for the navigation of
a vessel.
Fire, electrical shock or serious injury can
result.
Always confirm position against all available
aids to navigation, for safety of vessel and
crew.
Do not place liquid-filled containers on
the top of the equipment.
Fire or electrical shock can result if a liquid
spills into the equipment.
A warning label is attached to the equipment. Do not remove the label. If the
label is missing or damaged, contact
a FURUNO agent or dealer.
Immediately turn off the power at the
switchboard if the equipment is emitting
smoke or fire.
WARNING
To avoid electrical shock, do not
remove cover. No user-serviceable
parts inside.
Continued use of the equipment can cause
fire or electrical shock. Contact a FURUNO
agent for service.

FOREWORD
A Word to the Owner of the MODEL-1700C/1700 series
FURUNO Electric Company thanks you for purchasing the MODEL1722C/1732C/1752C/1762C Color LCD Radar/Plotter, MODEL1722/1732/1752/1762 Monochrome LCD Radar/Plotter. We are confident you will
discover why the FURUNO name has become synonymous with quality and
reliability.
For over 50 years FURUNO Electric Company has enjoyed an enviable
reputation for quality and reliability throughout the world. This dedication to
excellence is furthered by our extensive global network of agents and dealers.
Your radar is designed and constructed to meet the rigorous demands of the
marine environment. However, no machine can perform its intended function
unless properly installed and maintained. Please carefully read and follow the
operation and maintenance procedures set forth in this manual.
We would appreciate feedback from you, the end-user, about whether we are
achieving our purposes.
Thank you for considering and purchasing FURUNO.

Features
The MODEL-1700C series, MODEL-1700 series works within our new productnetwork system called the “NavNet.” Each product has an IP address to
communicate with NavNet compatible products within the network, using TCP/IP
protocol through an Ethernet 10-Base-T.
The main features are
• Bright 7” screen visible even under direct sunlight.
• User friendly operation with combination of discrete keys, soft keys and
Omnipad.
• Radar picture available with connection to NavNet compatible radars.
• Accepts C-MAP, Nav-charts™ (NAVIONICS) and FURUNO charts.
• Fast chart redraw.
• Built-in NavNet interface circuit board.
• 12-channel black box GPS unit with highly accurate position fixing optionally
available.
• Video sounder picture available with connection to NavNet compatible black
box echo sounder.
xii
SYSTEM CONFIGURATIONS
All NavNet products incorporate a “network circuit board” to integrate each
NavNet product on board through an optional LAN cable (Ethernet 10 Base T).
Each NavNet product is assigned an IP address to enable transfer of images
between NavNet products. For example, video plotter pictures can be transferred
to a radar and vice versa. Pictures received via the NavNet may be adjusted at
the receiving end.
An NavNet system may consist of a single, dual, or three and more NavNet
products. For a system incorporating three or more products a “hub” is required to
process data.
