Important Safety and Product Information WARNINGFailure to avoid the following potentially hazardous situations could result inan accident or collision resulting in death or serious injury.Navigation WarningsIf your Garmin® device uses or accepts mapping products, follow theseguidelines to ensure safe navigating.• Always carefully compare information displayed on the device to allavailable navigation sources, including information from visual sightings,local waterway rules and restrictions, and maps. For safety, alwaysresolve any discrepancies or questions before continuing navigation, anddefer to posed signs and conditions.• Use this device only as a navigational aid. Do not attempt to use thedevice for any purpose requiring precise measurement of direction,distance, location, or topography.Vehicle Installation Warnings• When installing the device in a vehicle, place the device securely so itdoes not obstruct the driver’s view of the road À or interfere with vehicleoperating controls, such as the steering wheel, foot pedals, ortransmission levers. Do not place unsecured on the vehicle dashboard Á.Do not place the device in front of or above any airbag Â.• The windshield mount may not stay attached to the windshield in allcircumstances. Do not place the mount where it will become a distractionif it should become detached. Keep your windshield clean to help ensurethat the mount stays on the windshield.Street Navigation WarningsIf your Garmin device accepts street maps and suggests routes that followroads, follow these guidelines to ensure safe on-road navigation.• Always use your best judgment, and operate the vehicle in a safe manner.Do not become distracted by the device while driving, and always be fullyaware of all driving conditions. Minimize the amount of time spent viewingthe device screen while driving.• Do not input destinations, change settings, or access any functionsrequiring prolonged use of the device controls while driving. Pull over in asafe and legal manner before attempting such operations.• When navigating, carefully compare information displayed on the device toall available navigation sources, including road signs, road closures, roadconditions, traffic congestion, weather conditions, and other factors thatmay affect safety while driving. For safety, always resolve anydiscrepancies before continuing navigation, and defer to posted signs andconditions.• The device is designed to provide route suggestions. It is not areplacement for driver attentiveness and good judgement. Do not followroute suggestions if they suggest an illegal maneuver or would place thevehicle in an unsafe situation.Battery WarningsA lithium-ion battery can be used in this device.If these guidelines are not followed, batteries may experience a shortenedlife span or may present a risk of damage to the device, fire, chemical burn,electrolyte leak, and/or injury.• Do not leave the device exposed to a heat source or in a high-temperaturelocation, such as in the sun in an unattended vehicle.
