ABOUT THIS MANUAL This manual is written in an attempt with full strength to assist the user to utilize the upgrade kit SD-800 for the Posiflex fan free touch terminals KS series systems. This series of products incorporate 2 delicately designed POS peripherals each can be used as an excellent tool to accommodate the required security specially involved  in POS  business, kiosk and hospitality operation. This manual covers the conceptual and operational aspects of these units. For technical aspects involving opening of the unit or option implementation, it is only available to the authorized distributors.  The manufacturer of the SD-800 series heartily apologizes to the user for reserving the right to change or to modify this manual without notice due to the rapid and constant progress and improvement on science and technology. INSTALLATION HARDWARE INSTALLATION Remove the 2 screws which on back of the right side of main unit as circled in the left picture to remove the cover for side mount upgrade-kit. Take out the cable inside this cover and connect it to the white connector which is inside the upgrade-kit as arrowed in the right picture. Gently arrange the excessive length of this cable and screw-fit the SD-800 back to the position which occupied by the cover originally. Please reserve the cover if there is chance to have the side mount kit removed in the future.   If the ordered SD-800 is RFID only model, please refer to the following steps:      (A).Please unfastens the screws which fix the bottom cover. (B) Open the plastic bottom cover as arrowed direction in the picture B and separate it from the SD main unit.  (C) Please connect the cable from terminal to the white connecter which in the RFID Board. (D) Fix the screws which unfasten in the step 1.   P/N: 19860900010   T31454 A B C D
  Page 2After finish these steps, please fix the SD-800 which in the occupied by the cover originally on back of the right side of main unit. For optional Wi-Fi module, it will come separately with SD-800. Please follow procedures from A to D to install the SD-800 installation. (A) Please unfastens the screws which fix the bottom cover. (B) Open the plastic bottom cover as arrowed direction in the picture B and separate it from the main unit.  (C) Please unfastens the rubber block which squared in the picture C. (D) Insert the USB Wi-Fi module into the internal USB port. (E) Put the rubber block back and fasten the screw as picture E.   After finished these steps, please put the bottom cover back and fasten the screws.  DRIVER INSTALLATION 1. For MSR: The magnetic stripe reader in SD-800 connects to the host through the proprietary internal USB connecter working as a USB KB and therefore requires no driver installation. For application in OS other than Windows (such as MS-DOS or Linux), some technical internal modifications will be required and it is most advised to specify such conditions clearly when ordering the SD-800. For application in MS-DOS, please enable the USB keyboard and set USB operation mode to Full/Low Speed in system CMOS setup. Refer to “Operation Guide” for manipulation over the reader configuration.  2. For RFID Reader: Posiflex delivers this SD-800 with its drivers. Please find the driver’s INF file in the CD or DVD which delivered with SD-800. Additionally, please notice that SD-800’s RFID reader is not support the applications in OS other than Windows (such as MS-DOS or Linux).   III.  OPERATION GUIDE MAGNETIC STRIPE READER For magnetic stripe card reading, be sure to insert the card to the bottom with magnetic stripe facing the mark aside the slot. The movement of the card can be either inserting the card from the top to down out or sliding the card upward from the lower side to the top end as long as the card is a standard one.   The MSR in SD-800 reads an ISO or JIS magnetic stripe card without driver. Yet, there is a “Posiflex USB MSR Manager” program provided to control some parameter configuration for ISO MSR. The features controllable in this program cover: each track enable/disable, Alt+Num approach for ASCII codes and Leading/Stop code enable/disable. The function for enabling each track of course comes in effect only when the track is physically available. Please find in the Product Information CD or DVD delivered with KS system the folder “\Drivers\SD_Series\USBMSR_xxx” and “SetUp” this manager program or download the installation program from our web http://www.posiflex.com or http://www.posiflex.com.tw.  RFID Reader The RFID reader is a radio-enabled device that communicates with a tag and with the host system. In order to communicate with each other, the reader and the tag must be set at same frequency and the tag must be within the reader’s RF range as circled in the right picture. Various tags are available for use in different applications and environments as well as can add data to the tag or the existing tag data can modify.   Combinations of SD-800 There are few combinations of SD-800 for customer to choose: 1. MSR, Wi-Fi and RFID. 2. MSR and Wi-Fi. 3. MSR. 4. MSR and RFID. 5.
