MICROWAVE OVEN MICROWAVE OVEN USER MANUAL PLEASE READ THIS MANUAL THOROUGHLY BEFORE OPERATING MICROWAVE OVEN PRECAUTIONS TO AVOID POSSIBLE EXPOSURE TO EXCESSIVE MICROWAVE ENERGY a. Do not attempt to operate this oven with the door open since open-door operation can result in harmful exposure to microwave energy. It is important not to defeat or tamper with the safety interlocks. b. Do not place any object between the oven front face and the door or allow soil or cleaner residue to accumulate on sealing surfaces. c. Do not operate the oven if it is damaged. It is particularly important that the oven door close properly and that there is no damage to the: (1) door (bent), (2) hinges and latches (broken or loosened), (3) door seals and sealing surfaces. d. The oven should not be adjusted or repaired by anyone except properly qualified service personnel. IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed including the following: WARNING –To reduce the risk of burns, electric shock, fire, injury to persons, or exposure to excessive microwave energy: 1. Read all instructions before using the appliance. 2. Read and follow the specific “PRECAUTIONS TO AVOID POSSIBLE EXPOSURE TO EXCESSIVE MICROWAVE ENERGY ” found on page 1. 3. This appliance must be grounded. Connect only to properly grounded outlet. See “GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS ” found on page 3. 4. Install or locate this appliance only in accordance with the provided installation instructions. 5. Some products such as whole eggs with / without shells and sealed containers – for example, closed glass jars – are able to explode and should not be heated in this oven. 6. Use this appliance only for its intended use as described in the manual. Do not use corrosive chemicals or vapors in this appliance. This type of oven is specifically designed to heat, cook, or dry food. It is not designed for industrial or laboratory use. 7. As with any appliance, close supervision is necessary when used by children. MICROWAVE OVEN 8. Do not operate this appliance if it has a damaged cord or plug, if it is not working properly, or if it has been damaged or dropped. 9.This appliance should be serviced only by qualified service personnel. Contact nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair or adjustment. 10. Do not cover or block any openings on the appliance. 11. Do not store this appliance outdoors. Do not use this product near water – for example ,near a kitchen sink, in a wet basement or near a swimming pool or similar locations. 12. Do not immerse cord or plug in water. 13. Keep cord away from heated surfaces. 14. Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter. 15. See surface door cleaning instructions on page 16. 16. To reduce the risk of fire in the oven cavity: a. Do not overcook food. Carefully attend appliance when paper, plastic or other combustible materials are placed inside the oven to facilitate cooking. b. Remove wire twist-ties from paper or plastic bags before placing bag in oven. c. If materials inside the oven ignite, keep oven door closed, turn oven off and disconnect the power cord or shut off power at the fuse or circuit breaker panel. d. Do not use the cavity for storage purposes. Do not leave paper products, cooking utensils or food in the cavity when not in use. 17. Liquids such as water, coffee or tea are able to be overheated beyond the boiling point without appearing to be boiling. Visible bubbling or boiling when the container is removed from the microwave oven is not always present. THIS COULD RESULT IN VERY HOT LIQUIDS SUDDENLY BOILING OVER WHEN THE CONTAINER IS DISTURBED OR A SPOON OR OTHER UTENSIL IS INSERTED INTO THE LIQUID. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS MICROWAVE OVEN ADDITIONAL IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS 1. Oversize foods or oversize metal utensils should not be inserted in a microwave oven as they may create a fire or risk of electric shock. 2. Do not clean with metal scouring pads. 3. Do not store any materials other than manufacturer ’s recommended accessories in this oven when not in use. WARNING: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF INJURY TO PERSONS: 1. Liquids such as water, coffee or tea are able to be overheated beyond the boiling point without appearing to be boiling. 2. Do not use narrow necked containers to boil or reheat liquids. 3. To reduce the risk of injury, stir the liquid several times before heating. 4. The liquid may splash out during or after heating or when adding ingredients (instant coffee, etc) resulting in possible harm or injury to persons. 5. After heating, allow the container to stand in microwave oven for at least 40 seconds before removing the container. 6. Do not heat water and oil, or a fat together, which may cause a violent eruption. SHORT POWER-SUPPLY CORD WARNING: a) A short power-supply cord (or detachable power-supply cord) is to be provided to reduce risks resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. b) Longer detachable power-supply cords or extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use. c) If a long detachable power-supply cord or extension cord is used. 1) The marked electrical rating of the detachable power-supply cord or extension cord should be least as the electrical rating of the appliance. 2) If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be grounding-type 3-wire MICROWAVE OVEN cord, and 3) The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the counter top or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over, GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS This appliance must be grounded. In the event of an electrical short circuit, grounding reduces the risk of electric shock by providing an escape wire for the electric current. This appliance is equipped with a cord having a grounding wire with a grounding plug. The plug must be plugged into an outlet that is properly installed and grounded. WARNING – Improper use of the grounding can result in a risk of electric shock. Consult a qualified electrician or serviceman if the grounding instructions are not completely understood, or if doubt exists as to whether the appliance is properly grounded. • Do not use an extension cord. If the power supply cord is too short, have a qualified electrician or service man install an outlet near the appliance. Testing Containers and Utensils Some non-metallic containers and utensils become extremely hot when used in a microwave oven. To avoid risk of scalding, use the following procedure to determine if a container or utensil is safe for microwave use: 1. Fill a microwave-safe container with 1 cup (250 ml) of cold water. Place it in the microwave oven along with the container or utensil in question. 2. Turn the oven on maximum power for 1 minute. Do not exceed 1 minute cooking time. 3. Carefully feel the container. If the empty container is warm, do not use it for microwave cooking. It is not recommended for commercial purposes. MICROWAVE OVEN CONTROL PANEL OPERATION CHECK After unpacking this appliance, examine the now oven for evidence of shipping damage. This is most important since a damaged oven may allow the escape of microwave energy. Make sure you remove all packing from the microwave cavity. Check the oven operation when unpacking the unit and any time the oven is not working properly. 1. Plug the power cord into an earthed electrical socket. 2. Place the glass tray inside the oven cavity. 3. Place a cup of water (at room temperature) inside the oven, on the glass tray. 4. Close the door securely. 5. Set the TIMER for 3 to 4 minutes (note: microwave activity starts). 6. When the cooking time has elapsed, the signal will sound (note: all microwave activity stops). 7. If the oven is operating normally, the water will be hot. MICROWAVE OVEN OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS The microwave oven is designed to be simple and easy to operate. Please follow these instructions carefully. 1. Place the food in a suitable cooking utensil. Open the microwave oven door and place the utensil in the center of the oven on the glass tray. 2. Close the oven door. 3. Turn the TIMER KNOB clockwise to set the cooking time. NOTE: The oven starts as soon as the KNOB is turned. We recommend turning the KNOB past the time you want and then turn back to the desired setting. 4. When the TIMER reaches zero (0), the signal sounds and the oven will automatically shut off. 5. Open the door and remove the food from the oven. 6. To stop cooking before the TIMER reaches zero (0), either open the door or simply turn the TIMER to zero (0). NOTE: The door can be open during the cooking process by pushing the Door Open Button. The TIMER will stop and the microwave activity will cease. When the door is closed, cooking will resume until the full cooking time has elapsed. After cooking is finished, the TIMER will be at zero (0). MICROWAVE POWER LEVELS Your microwave oven is equipped with five power levers (5 steps) to five you flexibility and control over cooking. Let stand 3 minutes. Asparagus Casserole Medium 4-5 (10 oz., frozen) Wash and cover with lid or vented plastic wrap. Let stand 3 minutes. Broccoli Casserole High 5-6 (1/2 lb., fresh) Cook immediately with no additional water after washing, and cover with lid or vented plastic wrap. Let stand 3 minutes. Broccoli Casserole High 5-6 (10 oz., frozen) Wash and cover with lid or vented plastic wrap. Let stand 3 minutes. Cabbage (1/2 Casserole High 4-5 lb., fresh) Cook immediately with no additional water after washing, and cover with lid or vented plastic wrap. Let stand 3 minutes. Canned, Casserole Medium 5-7 Empty contents into casserole Vegetable and cover with lid or vented (15 oz.) plastic wrap. Let stand 3 minutes. Carrots (1/2 lb., fresh) Casserole High 5-6 Wash, add 1 tbsp of water and cover with lid or vented plastic wrap. Let stand 3 minutes. MICROWAVE OVEN Carrots (10 oz., Casserole High 5-8 frozen) 10 Wash and cover with lid or vented plastic wrap. Let stand 3 minutes. Cauliflower Casserole High 5-6 (1/2 lb., fresh) Cook immediately with no additional water after washing, and cover with lid or vented plastic wrap. Let stand 3 minutes. If impossible, open the oven door to prevent an accidental oven start. MICROWAVE OVEN 12 INSIDE OF THE OVEN Use a damp cloth to wipe out crumbs and spillovers. It is important to keep the area between door and cavity front clean to assure a tight seal. Remove greasy spatters with a sudsy cloth, then rinse and dry. Do not use harsh detergent or abrasive cleaners. GLASS TRAY The glass tray can be washed by hand or in dishwasher. CONTROL PANEL Wipe with a damp cloth followed immediately by a dry cloth. DOOR If steam accumulates inside or around the outside of the oven door, wipe the panel with a soft cloth. This may occur when the microwave oven is operated under high humidity conditions and in no way indicates a malfunction of the unit. OUTSIDE OVEN SURFACE Clean with damp cloth. To prevent damage to the operating parts inside the oven, the eater should not be allowed to seep into the ventilation opening. After cleaning the oven, be sure that the rotating ring and the glass tray are in the right position. And turn the TIMER to zero (0). BEFORE CALLING FOR SERVICE Please check your problem by using the guide below and try solutions for each problem. If the microwave oven still does not work properly, contact the nearest authorized service center. OVEN WILL NOT START AR ALL * Electrical cord for oven is not plugged in. - Plug into the outlet. * Door is open. - Close the door open and try again. * Wrong operation is set. - Check operation instruction. ARCING OR SPARKING * Materials to be avoided in microwave oven are used. - Use microwave-safe cookware only. * The oven is operated when empty. MICROWAVE OVEN - Do not operate with oven empty. * Food refuse remains in the cavity or inside the cavity is uncleaned. - Clean cavity with wet towel. UNEVEN COOKING OR POOR DEFROSTING * Materials to be avoided in microwave oven are used. - Use microwave-safe cookware only. * Cooking time/Cooking power level is not suitable. - Use correct time/Cooking power level. * Food is not turned or stirred. - Turn or stir food. OVERCOOKED FOODS * Cooking time/Cooking power level is not suitable. - Use correct time/Cooking power level. UNDERCOOKED FOODS * Materials to be avoided in microwave oven are used. - Use microwave-safe cookware only. * Food is not defrosted completely. - Completely defrost food. * Oven ventilation ports are restricted. - Check to see that oven ventilation ports are not restricted. * Cooking time/Cooking power level is not suitable. - Use correct time/Cooking power level. ALL THESE THINGS ARE NORMAL * Dull thumping sound during oven operation. * Steam or vapor escaping from around the door. * Light reflection around door or outer wrapper. * Dimming oven light and change in blower sound during oven operation at power levels other than high. * Some radio and TV interference might occur during operations. It is similar to the interference caused by other small appliances such as mixer, blow dryer, etc. 13
