Mix and tweak 6 discrete instrument tracks while you explore a wide range of tempo-synced material from Electro Suite, Urban Suite, Mayhem of Loops and World Traditions. Traverse the unknown with Defcon’s randomizer: put your track material in the hands of chance and quickly explore countless combinations—it’s a tremendously fun way to find inspiration and generate ideas. Once you have a groove going you can surgically fine tune, layer and sequence parts with independent volume, pan, pitch, high and low pass filter, mute, solo and bypass controls. Advanced controls in the free UVI Workstation or MachFive 3 allow you to easily add numerous studio quality effects, stack multiple instances, and map controls to your MIDI controller of choice. Instrument tracks include Kick and Snare Drum, Hi-Hats, Percussion, Bass, and 2 Phrase tracks. UFS is UVI’s monolithic instrument file format. All required assets for an instrument including samples, presets, scripts, FX and impulse responses are contained within a single UFS file. This approach allows for an extremely simple workflow with minimal overhead for file management and updating. 5 Installation Installation Loading an Instrument Locate the Defcon.ufs file and copy it to this location: Once you’ve installed the Defcon UFS, open on Mac: /Library/Application Support/UVISoundBanks UVI Workstation or MachFive 3 and do the following: on Windows: C:\Program Files\UVISoundBanks If the UFS file is encoded in RAR format (appears as *.rar), 1 it will need to be uncompressed before installation. There are a number of freeware RAR utilities available for both Mac and Windows platforms. We recommend The Unarchiver 1. Double-click the browser screen (Mac) and WinRAR (Windows)—links to both of these can be found on our FAQ in the UFS Installation section, here: http://www.uvi.net/en/content/124-faq 3 Saving UFS files in a Custom Folder 2 If you prefer to store your UFS files in a different folder or on a different hard drive even, feel free—it’s simple to configure: 1. Open UVI Workstation/MachFive 3 and go to ‘Preferences’ 2. Locate Defcon in the Soundbank tab 3. Then double-click the Defcon.M5p file 2. Click the ‘Sound Banks’ tab 3.
