Setting up MyNextbase Connect, Alexa, and the Alexa Skill on a Nextbase 422GW or 522GW Dash Cam

Introduction
The following document contains a pictorial run-through of how to set up MyNextbase Connect and Alexa with your 422GW or 522GW Nextbase Dash Cam, as well as how to successfully enable the Alexa Skill.
Before starting, please return the Dash Cam to its factory settings and uninstall any previously downloaded Alexa or MyNextbase Connect apps.
To return the Dash Cam to its factory settings: 1: Turn on the Dash Cam, stop it recording, go into 'Settings- Setup- Keep User Settings- Off'. 2: Go back into 'Settings- Setup- Default Settings' then return the Dash Cam to the default settings.
Please re-download the latest version of the MyNextbase App and the Alexa app.
If you have any issues during this set-up, please contact Nextbase at support@nextbase.com , quoting the step number and details that the issue occurred on, and the Support Team will be able to help resolve the issue.
If you get to the end of this setup, but cannot hear Alexa reply, please make sure the Media volume is fully turned up on your mobile device. For some devices, you may need to go into the 'Advanced Sound Settings' in your mobile's settings and change the 'Separate App Sounds' setting.
Finally, please be aware that the exact order of the setup could differ with different mobile devices in comparison to the order presented here.
If you have individual difficulties with your mobile device which prevents successful setup, please contact us.

Please plug the Dash Cam into a power source
1 Turn the Dash Cam ON and stop it recording by
pressing the red circle.
Press the Settings symbol in the top left corner

of the screen.

This will present a menu.
3 Click `Connect Apps'.

4 Click `MyNextbase'.

during the next steps as this is essential for connection.

Download and Install MyNextbase Connect on
your phone to begin.

Setting up MyNextbase Connect, Alexa & the Alexa skill
Open the MyNextbase Connect app on your
7 mobile device.
Click `Connect Dash Cam'
The app will then scan for the Dash Cam. Please click on your Dash Cam when it appears on the screen.
8 If you need to identify your camera by the Serial number,
the Serial number can be located on the underside of your Dash Cam, printed on a sticker.

Your mobile device will then make a Bluetooth request. Depending on what type/make of device you have,
9 this screen may pop-up, or you may be taken to the
Bluetooth Settings on your device. Please wait for the pop-ups to appear and 'OK' them.
The MyNextbase Connect app will then check for any available Firmware updates for your Dash Cam.
10 If a newer Firmware is available for your Dash Cam,
it will offer you the option to update it. If your Dash Cam is up to date, it will inform you so.

Setting up MyNextbase Connect, Alexa & the Alexa skill
Open the Alexa App on your Mobile Phone. Go through the log in process until you get
11 to the Alexa Home Screen.
Do not connect your Dash Cam yet.
Once you are fully connected, please go
12 back into the MyNextbase Connect app.
Click 'Set Up Now' on the Amazon Alexa ribbon.

This will open a new page.
13 Please click `Start Setup'.
The Amazon Alexa app will then scan for your Dash Cam. Your Dash Cam should also be displaying
14 an Alexa connect screen automatically.
On your mobile device Alexa app, please select your Dash Cam.

The Alexa app will then ask you if you want
15 to set up Alexa on the Dash Cam.
Please click 'Continue'.
The Amazon Alexa app will then make a Bluetooth pairing request:
16 (dependent on your device make/model).
If it does so, please click 'OK'.

You should now be set up and
17 paired with Alexa.
Go back into the MyNextbase Connect App.
18 On the home page, please click:
Amazon Alexa- 'Learn More'.

20 Press `Continue'.

This will open the Alexa app.

Press `Enable to Use'.
The App will then ask for permission to
22 use your name.
Tick the box and click 'Save Settings'.

A web pop up will then appear and ask you to log in to your Amazon account.
23 Please use the same one your previously used,
and then click 'Sign-in'.
Once logged in, a confirmation page will load
24 confirming that the Skill has been enabled.

When you then go back to the MyNextbase
25 Connect app, the app will confirm that
you have activated the skill.
Now you will be able to fully use Alexa.
26 If you would like a list of usable commands
for Dash Cam control, please click on 'Available Now'.

This will bring up a full list of commands
27 to control your Dash Cam, hands free.

Notes:
