Ford Transmission Control Module Extended Warranty Coverage

This document details Ford's Customer Satisfaction Program 14M02, which provides extended warranty coverage for the Transmission Control Module (TCM) in specific Ford Fiesta and Focus models.

Program Overview

The program addresses intermittent symptoms such as loss of transmission engagement, no-start conditions, or lack of power, which may be caused by electrical circuit failures within the TCM. These issues are often accompanied by a "Check Engine" light.

Ford is extending the warranty coverage for the DPS6 Automatic Transmission Control Module (TCM) to 10 years of service or 150,000 miles from the vehicle's warranty start date, whichever comes first. For vehicles that have already exceeded these limits, the coverage will extend through June 30, 2017.

Affected Vehicles

The extended warranty applies to:

  • 2011-2015 Model Year Ford Fiesta equipped with a DPS6 Automatic Transmission.
  • 2012-2016 Model Year Ford Focus equipped with a DPS6 Automatic Transmission.

Affected vehicles are identified in OASIS.

Service Action and Coverage

Dealers are authorized to replace the TCM under this program if it is determined to be the cause of the described issues. This service is provided at no charge to the vehicle owner, provided the vehicle is no longer eligible for repair under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty Powertrain or Emissions Warranty coverage.

For vehicles within the new vehicle bumper-to-bumper warranty coverage, existing warranty and policy guidelines apply. For vehicles outside this coverage, an Approval Request must be submitted to the SSSC Web Contact Site before repair.

Owner Refunds and Rental Vehicles

Ford Motor Company is offering refunds for owner-paid repairs performed before the Owner Notification Letter date, with the offer expiring June 30, 2017. Emergency repairs performed away from authorized dealers after the notification date are also eligible for refund with no expiration date.

Rental vehicles may be provided for up to 1 day for part replacement, following Extended Service Plan (ESP) guidelines. Prior approval is required for rentals exceeding 1 day.

Claims Preparation and Submission

Claims should be entered using Direct Warranty Entry (DWE) or One Warranty Solution (OWS). Specific diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and labor times for diagnosis and repair are outlined in the document.

For more details on labor allowances, parts requirements, and return policies, please refer to the full document.

For further assistance or questions, contact the Special Service Support Center (SSSC) via the SSSC Web Contact Site.
