Getting Started 7 Getting Started Playable file Requirement Music file requirement Compatible USB Devices y MP3 Player: Flash type MP3 player. y USB Flash Drive: Devices that support USB2.0 or USB1.1. 1 y The USB function of this unit does not support all USB devices. MP3/WMA file compatibility with this unit is limited as follows. y Sampling frequency: within 32 to 48 kHz (MP3), within 32 to 48 kHz (WMA) y Bit rate: within 32 to 320 kbps (MP3), 40 to 192 kbps (WMA) y Maximum files: Data CD: 999 / USB: 2,000 y Maximum folders: Data CD: 99 / USB: 200 y File extensions: ".mp3"/ ".wma" y Certain MP3/WMA files may not be played depending on the type or format of the file. y CD-ROM file format: ISO 9660/ JOLIET y We recommend that you use Easy-CD Creator, which creates an ISO 9660 file system. y A protected file by DRM (Digital rights management) cannot be played on the unit. y The DTS disc is not supported. You have to set the disc format option to [Mastered] in order to make the discs compatible with the LG players when formatting rewritable discs. When setting the option to Live File System, you cannot use it on LG players. (Mastered/Live File System: Disc format system for Windows Vista) USB device requirement y Devices which require additional program installation when you have connected it to a computer, are not supported. y Do not extract the USB device while in operation. y For a large capacity USB, it may take longer than a few minute to be searched. y To prevent data loss, back up all data. y If you use a USB extension cable or USB hub, the USB device is not recognized. y Using NTFS file system is not supported. (Only FAT(16/ 32) file system is supported.) y This unit recognizes up to 2,000 files. y External HDD, Card readers, Locked devices, or hard type USB devices are not supported. y USB port of the unit cannot be connected to PC. The unit cannot be used as a storage device. y Some USB may not work with this unit. (USB only) (Page 20) - Deletes a song on the JUKE BOX list. - Deletes all the saved stations. Remove the battery cover on the rear of the remote control, and insert the battery with 4 and 5 matched correctly. VOICE CANCELLER: You can reduce the vocal tones during music playback from various input sources. SLEEP: Sets the system to turn off automatically at a specified time. (Dimmer: The display window will be darkened by half.) SET: Confirms the setting. KEY CHANGER (L/l): Changes the key to suit your vocal range. J (Information): MIC (Microphone) ECHO: Selects ECHO mode. - Sees information about your music. An MP3 file often come with ID3 tag. The tag gives the Title, Artist, Album or Time information. - Sees Bluetooth device name of the unit in BT READY. - Sees the name of connected all Bluetooth device in Bluetooth mode. ?: This button is not available. VOCAL EFFECTS: Selects various vocal effects mode. (If you want to use USER, you have to register a source with "LG XBOOM" app.) 1 1, 2, 3, 4 (DJ PAD) Press a desired sound pad. N (Play/Pause) n DJ SCRATCHER / LEVEL CONTROL & SEARCH - Starts or pauses playback. - Selects stereo/mono. V (Skip/Search) - Skips forward. - Searches for a section within a track/file. - Selects the radio stations. PARTY ACCELERATOR MODE Selects PARTY ACCELERATOR MODE. j Disc tray k PARTY ACCELERATOR lever Slide the lever to create a party atmosphere. l USB REC / DEMO - Records to USB. - Stops Recording. - Turns clockwise or counterclockwise to make scratch sound. - Turns clockwise or counterclockwise to control the USER EQ level. - Searches a folder or a file. - Adjust DJ EFFECT level. DJ EFFECT Selects a desired DJ EFFECT. SEARCH Moves to folder or file in selection mode. OK Selects a folder when searching a file. USER EQ Selects the equalizer created by your own. - In power off status, if you press USB REC / DEMO, show DEMO mode. SPECIAL EQ / BASS BLAST (or BASS BLAST+) - Chooses special equalizer. - Press and hold to select BASS (or BASS+) effect directly. Z (Stop) Stops playback or cancels DELETE function. C (Skip/Search) - Skips backward. - Searches for a section within a track/file. - Selects the radio stations. About Ferrite Core 2 You must affix a ferrite core in order to reduce or eliminate electrical interference. 1. Pull the stopper [a] of the ferrite core to open. 2. Wind the power cord around the ferrite core twice. 3. Close the ferrite core until it clicks. Connecting MID R MID L 100 100 100 Connecting Connecting to speakers Connect the speaker cable plugs to the SPEAKERS connector. Make sure to connect the speaker's plug to the corresponding colored speaker connector when connecting the plug. Attaching the speaker light cables to the unit To connect the speaker light cable to the unit, insert the cable to SPEAKER LIGHTING SYSTEM connectors on the unit. Otherwise it may result in the speaker malfunction and cause personal injury and/or property damage. y When you connect the speakers to the unit, make sure to connect the speaker's cable and plug to the corresponding speaker connector. y Check the volume level before playing music 2 to prevent infirm, child, and pregnant women from being shocked by the sudden and loud sound from the unit. y Do not use the unit in a limited space. It may damage a person's hearing. It is recommended to use it in a wide space. y Use the speaker supplied with this unit only. Using any other speaker may cause malfunction. y The speakers contain magnet parts, so color irregularity may occur on the TV screen or PC monitor screen. Please use the speakers far away from either TV screen or PC monitor. y Avoid looking at the speaker lights for a long time. It may cause damage to eyesight. > Caution y Make sure that the jacks and the speakers are matched correctly. y Make sure to connect the cables to connectors tightly on the unit. 16 Connecting Optional Equipment Connection AUX IN 1 Connection AUX IN 2 Connection Connect an output of auxiliary device (Camcorder, TV, Player, etc) to the AUX IN 2 (L/R) connector. If your device has only one output for audio(mono), connect it to the left(white) audio jack on the unit. Connect an output (earphone or line out) of portable device (MP3 or PMP etc) to the AUX IN 1 (3.5 mm) 2 connector. MID R MID L 100 100 100 White Red Audio cable Connecting 3.5 mm stereo cable DVD, Blu-ray player etc. Listening to music from your portable player or external device The unit can be used to play the music from many types of portable player or external device. 1. Connect the portable player to the AUX IN 1 connector of the unit. Or Connect the external device to the AUX IN 2 connector of the unit. 2. Turn the power on by pressing 1. 3. Press F to select AUX 1 or AUX 2 function. 4. Turn on the portable player or external device and start it playing. , Note Automatically switches to the AUX 1 function when you connect the portable device to the AUX IN 1 connector. USB Connection Connect a USB device (or MP3 player, etc.) to the USB ports on the unit. USB device Connecting 17 Antenna Connection Connect the supplied FM antenna for listening to the radio. Connect the FM wire antenna to the FM antenna connector. USB 1 USB 2 MID R MID L 100 100 100 2 Connecting , Note Removing the USB device from the unit: 1. Choose a different function/mode or press Z twice in a row. 2. Remove the USB device from the unit. FM antenna , Note Be sure to fully extend the FM wire antenna. 18 Operating Operating Basic Operations , Note y Repeat/Shuffle playback operates as follows. On Display Description CD/USB Operations 1. Insert the disc by pressing B. Or connect the USB device to the USB port. Plays songs in order and stops OFF the playback. ONE Plays a same song repeatedly. 2. Select CD or USB function by pressing F. Plays songs in a folder FOLDER repeatedly. (Except AUDIO CD) To Stop Playback Press Z. Press N. Do this Pause Press N during playback. 3 Searching for a section within a track/ file Press and hold C/V during playback and release it at the point you want to listen to. Selecting a track/file directly Press 0 to 9 numerical buttons on the remote control to go to the desired file or track directly. - In stop status, ALL SHUFFLE Plays all the songs repeatedly. Plays all the songs once randomly, and stops the playback. y When you play JUKE BOX list, only ONE and ALL are available. y Even after restarting the unit or switching one function to another, you can listen to music from the point where it's last been played. y If you leave the disc tray open for 5 minutes, it will close automatically. Skipping to the next/ previous track/file Press C/V to go to the next/ previous track/file. - During playback, (1) By using C/V buttons: Press V to go to the next track/ file. Playing in less than 3 seconds, press C to go to the previous track/file. Auto Play - AUDIO/MP3/WMA CD is played automatically after disc tray is opened and then closed. - Automatically the unit switches to the CD function if disc tray is opened and then closed even when there is no disc in disc tray. Playing after 3 seconds, press C to go to the beginning of the track/ file. (2) By using SEARCH buttons: Rotate DJ SCRATCHER / LEVEL CONTROL & SEARCH or C/V and press N to play the track/file. Playing repeatedly or randomly Press REPEAT on the remote control repeatedly. Refer to the note for details about the display change. Selecting a folder and an MP3/ WMA file On the unit 1. Press SEARCH and rotate DJ SCRATCHER / LEVEL CONTROL & SEARCH or C/V until a desired file appears. You can also search a folder if you press SEARCH again. 2. Press OK or N to play the selected file. When you search a folder, press OK to select a file in the folder, then press OK or N again. The selected file is played. On the remote control 1. Press PRESET�FOLDER W/S repeatedly until a desired folder appears. 2. Select the file you want by using C/V. 3. Press N to play it. Operating 19 , Note y CD/USB Folders/Files are recognized as below. 3 Operating y If there is no file in a folder, the folder will not appear. y Folders will be presented as the following order; ROOT FOLDER 1 FOLDER 3 FOLDER 7 FOLDER 8 FOLDER 5 FOLDER 6 y File will be played from $ file No.1 to $ file No.14 one by one. y Files and folders will be presented in order recorded and may be presented differently according to the record circumstances. *ROOT: The first screen you can see when a computer recognize the CD/USB is "ROOT". 20 Operating Deleting a file/folder or format You can delete file, folder on your USB or format the USB. 1. Select USB function by pressing F. 2. Press DELETE on the remote control repeatedly, the display changes as followings. DEL FILE DEL DIR FORMAT On Display Description DEL FILE Select the file you want to delete. Select the folder you want to 3 DEL DIR delete. FORMAT Select to format the USB device. If you want to exit the current mode, press Z. 3. To delete file/folder or format, press and hold DELETE on the remote control. > Caution y Do not extract the USB device during operation. (play, delete, etc.) y Regular back up is recommended to prevent data loss. y The delete function may not be supported according to the USB status. (lock, etc.) Operating Operating 21 Playback Effect DJ SCRATCHER You can output and mix the sound effects of the DJ The unit supports various sound and playback effects : DJ EFFECT, DJ SCRATCHER, AUTO DJ, DJ PAD, DJ LOOP, PARTY ACCELERATOR SCRATCHER. Rotating DJ SCRATCHER / LEVEL CONTROL & SEARCH on the unit to mix the scratch sound. DJ EFFECT It allows you to enjoy DJ EFFECT such as FLANGER/ PHASER/WAH/DELAY sound effect. - You can hear effect of scratch sound depending on the direction in which you rotate DJ SCRATCHER / LEVEL CONTROL & SEARCH on the unit. 1. Press DJ EFFECT on the unit to select a desired DJ EFFECT (FLANGER, PHASER, WAH, DELAY, OFF). 2. Turn DJ SCRATCHER / LEVEL CONTROL & SEARCH on the unit clockwise or 3 counterclockwise to adjust the DJ EFFECT level between 0 to 15. , Note y The DJ EFFECT mode is displayed for 3 seconds when a DJ EFFECT key on the unit is inputted. y The current gage level is displayed when adjusting gage. y If the function changed or the unit is turned off and on, DJ EFFECT mode with DJ EFFECT is turned off. y According to effect level and application time, the DJ EFFECT may not effect when the DJ effect cover the original sound. Operating 22 Operating AUTO DJ DJ PAD AUTO DJ blends the end of one song into the beginning of another for seamless playback. It equalizes volume across tracks/files for uninterrupted playback. Press AUTO DJ on the remote control repeatedly, the display changes as followings. SHUFFLE SEQUENTIAL OFF It allows you to mix CLUB, DRUM or USER sound effect. Each mode has up to 4 sounds effect. 1. Press and hold DJ PAD (CLUB, DRUM or USER) on the unit to select a desired DJ PAD sound effect. 2. Press DJ PAD (1, 2, 3, 4) of desired sound on the unit. Appendix 47 Maintenance Handling the Unit When shipping the unit Notes on Discs Handling Discs Never stick paper or tape on the disc. Storing Discs After playing, store the disc in its case. Do not expose the disc to direct sunlight or sources of heat and never leave it in a parked car exposed to direct sunlight. Please save the original shipping carton and packing materials. If you need to ship the unit, for maximum protection, re-pack the unit as it was originally packed at the factory. Keeping the exterior surfaces clean Do not use volatile liquids such as insecticide spray near the unit. Wiping with strong pressure may damage the surface. Do not leave rubber or plastic products in contact with the unit for a long period of time. Cleaning Discs Cleaning the unit Fingerprints and dust on the disc can cause poor picture quality and sound distortion. Before playing, clean the disc with a clean cloth.
