Safety Use & Care
- Do not point the laser-light at another person or animal.
- Do not attempt to point laser-light at an aircraft.
- Avoid direct/indirect eye contact with the laser-beam. Laser radiation may cause eye damage.
- Do not view the beam with optical instruments.
- In the vicinity of use, make any bystanders aware of the dangers of looking directly into the laser beam.
- Do not allow children to operate the device.
- Use a 9V battery when replacing the battery. Ensure correct polarity.
- Always remove batteries when cleaning the device.
- Do not use leaking batteries or dispose of old batteries in fire.
- Remove battery for storage if the device is not being used for a prolonged period.
- Do not disassemble the device or tamper with internal components; this will void the warranty.
- Do not touch the lens or wipe it with anything other than a soft cloth or cotton swab.
- Keep the thermometer away from strong electromagnetic fields.
- Do not expose the thermometer to direct sources of heat for extended periods.
- The thermometer measures surface temperature, not internal temperature. Do not use for measuring body temperatures.

Operation
Surface Temperature Measurement
Note: The Lasergrip cannot measure temperatures through glass. Inaccuracy may occur with steam, dust, or air contaminants.
- Press the measurement trigger to activate the device.
- Point the Lasergrip towards the surface to be measured.
- Press and hold the trigger; the laser activates for aiming.
- Continue holding the trigger for live scanning of the surface temperature.
- Release the trigger when the laser is on the desired point; the LCD will display the locked temperature.
- Press the trigger again for another measurement.
HOLD for continuous temperature reading; RELEASE to lock the temperature result.
Note: The LCD displays 'HI' for temperatures above the measurable range and 'LO' for temperatures below the measurable range.
Unit Conversion
To switch between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F), press the °C/°F button at any time while the Lasergrip is on.
Laser Activation
Press the laser pointer On/Off button to activate or deactivate the laser beam.
Display Backlight Operation
Press the display backlight On/Off button to activate or deactivate the display backlight.
Battery Replacement
A low battery icon will appear on the LCD when the battery is low. Replace the battery immediately.
- Open the battery compartment and remove the used battery. Dispose of it properly.
- Connect a new DC 9V battery, ensuring correct polarity.
- Insert the battery and close the compartment lid, ensuring wiring is not pinched.
Ensure wiring is not bulging out of the compartment and polarity is facing upward.
Distance-Spot Ratio
The Lasergrip 749 measures surface temperature based on its distance-to-spot diameter ratio (D:S). As distance increases, the measured surface area also increases. With a 12:1 ratio, the measured spot diameter is approximately 1/12 of the distance.
For accuracy, ensure the target surface area is at least twice the spot diameter. Insufficient surface area leads to inaccurate results. The recommended measurement distance is 14.17 inches (36 cm), creating a spot diameter of 1.18 inches (3 cm).
Diagram Description: Shows distance 'D' and spot diameter 'S', with D:S = 12:1. Recommends a distance of 14.17 inches for a spot size of 1.18 inches.
Emissivity
Emissivity is a material's efficiency in emitting thermal energy. Non-reflective surfaces have higher emissivity (closer to 1) than reflective surfaces (closer to 0). Measuring reflective surfaces (like glass, polished wood, granite) can lead to inaccurate results.
To measure reflective surfaces accurately:
- Place masking tape over the target surface.
- Allow the tape to reach the surface temperature for approximately 30 minutes.
- Measure the taped section to eliminate emissivity-related inaccuracies.
Device Labels
Certification information (CE, FCC) is located on the left side of the Lasergrip. Warning and aperture safety information are on the right side. Updates to product information (date of manufacturing, manufacturer address) may be added as adhesive overlays.
