Instrument Driver types Agilent OpenLab CDS drivers are based on the RC.Net architecture. Information in this guide refers to this driver type, unless otherwise noted. RC.Net interface version 3.2.1 is integrated with this version of ChemStation. NO TE Instrument driver versions must always match in a network system For single quad Mass Spectrometer, only "Classic Plus" drivers are available with OpenLab CDS ChemStation Edition. The Classic Plus driver types can be combined with RC.Net drivers via their CIC ports. ChemStation C.01.10 - Supported Instruments 6 General OpenLab CDS Driver Information Instrument Driver Revisions The following Agilent instrument driver software revisions are part of the OpenLab CDS ChemStation C.01.10 software package and are installed with the software: Table 1 Driver Revisions provided with OpenLab CDS ChemStation C.01.10 update 3 RC.Net Instrument Driver Driver Software Revision Agilent LC 3.2 Agilent ELSD 1.8 Agilent GC 3.2 Agilent Micro GC 2.1.3 Agilent 35900E A/D Converter 2.3 If you are looking for information on the build number of the included drivers, please refer to Driver Revisions, accessible from the Resource Platform > Administration > Configuration. ChemStation C.01.10 - Supported Instruments 7 General OpenLab CDS Driver Information Firmware Revisions Agilent recommends using the most recent firmware revisions to provide the highest level of system capability. Agilent and other vendors may release RC.net drivers independent of the OpenLab CDS ChemStation Edition releases. Agilent driver software is forward compatible regarding firmware, i.e. the firmware can be updated without the need of updating the driver or CDS. To check the firmware of your instrument, do the following: In the ChemStation Edition Method and Run Control view, LC Instruments: In the menu, go to Instrument > Revisions & Serial #s GC Instruments: 1 In the menu, go to Instrument > Instrument Configuration. 2 Select the GC instrument under Selected modules, 3 Click the configure button, then select the configuration tab. ChemStation C.01.10 - Supported Instruments 8 General OpenLab CDS Driver Information Instrument Communication Information NOTE On Agilent's Analytical Instrument Controllers (AICs), OpenLab CDS ChemStation Edition exclusively supports instruments and modules connected via LAN. GPIB, RS-232, USB, or any converters are not supported on AICs. The tables in this chapter list the supported LC modules. Please note that using some driver features require current firmware versions such as valve-thermostat clusters or new temperature control modes. Recommended Firmware for Agilent HPLC/LC Modules Agilent recommends using current LC firmware sets with your OpenLab CDS ChemStation Edition. The latest LC firmware sets are 7.01, 6.50, and 6.30. Some of the modules are supported with firmware revisions lower than the ones available in the current firmware set. Please see the respective Release Note for Agilent LC and CE drivers for more information. Table 3 Recommended firmware per LC instrument series Device Agilent 1100 Series, 1200 Series and 1200 Infinity Recommended Firmware A.07.01 or later NOTE: 1100 Series Modules are supported on "best effort" basis. Agilent 1200 Series, 1200 Infinity, and 1120 Compact LC B.07.23 or later Agilent 1200 Infinity, hosted modules C.07.20 or later Agilent 1260/1290 Infinity II D.07.23 or later ChemStation C.01.10 - Supported Instruments 10 Agilent HPLC and LC Instrument Compatibility NOTE LC and CE firmware revisions are grouped into sets for each module or system. Firmware sets include just the latest firmware of each module. Modules of one LC instrument always need to have firmware from the same set. Firmware of one set is fully compatible with your CDS that supports this firmware set. However, if one module uses an older firmware revision newly added functionality might not be supported. Do not mix firmware revisions from one set with older or newer sets. Firmware is not tested across set borders! Please visit the Agilent site LC Firmware News and Downloads to download the latest Agilent LC firmware. Firmware Set 7.01 can be downloaded from http://www.agilent.com/enus/firmwareDownload?whid=99818. For more information, please see the respective LC driver release notes. The Release Notes for Agilent LC and CE drivers (ReleaseNotes_Driver_LC-CE.pdf) is available on your software media. You only need to upgrade ALL existing modules if A new LC module is added to the existing system (recommended) One of the existing modules requires an upgrade due to a bug fix solved with the latest release. Please note that the LC Driver releases are independent from CDS Releases. Only RC.net drivers are supported, unless stated otherwise. The Agilent LC-drivers are backwards compatible. Modules with identical product numbers are supported, even if the tables below list only the name of the current model version. 1100 Series models are supported on a best effort basis only. For details, please see the driver Release Notes of the driver revision you are using.
