T urn the unit OFF and unplug your air conditioner before cleaning.

T his air conditioner must be properly installed in accordance with the Installation Instructions before it is
used.

F or your safety...do not store or use combustible materials, gasoline or other flammable vapors or
liquids in the vicinity of this or any other appliance.

N ever unplug your air conditioner by pulling on the power cord. Always grip plug firmly and pull straight
out from the receptacle.

If the receptacle does not match the plug, the receptacle must be changed out by a qualified
electrician.

R eplace immediately all electric service cords that have become frayed or otherwise damaged. A damaged power supply cord must be replaced with a new power supply cord obtained from the manufacturer and not repaired. Do not use a cord that shows cracks or abrasion damage along its length or at either the plug or connector end.

HOW TO CONNECT ELECTRICITY
Do not, under any circumstances, cut or remove the third (ground) prong from the power cord. For personal safety, this appliance must be properly grounded.
DO NOT use an adapter plug with this appliance.
The power cord of this appliance is equipped with a 3-prong (grounding) plug which mates with a standard 3-prong (grounding) wall outlet to minimize the possibility of electric shock hazard from this appliance.
Power cord includes a current interrupter device. A test and reset button is provided on the plug case. The device should be tested on a periodic basis by first pressing the TEST button and then the RESET button while plugged into the outlet. If the TEST button does not trip or if the RESET button will not stay engaged, discontinue use of the air conditioner and contact a qualified service technician.

Have the wall outlet and circuit checked by a qualified electrician to make sure the outlet is properly grounded.
Where a 2-prong wall outlet is encountered, it is your personal responsibility and obligation to have it replaced with a properly grounded 3-prong wall outlet.
The air conditioner should always be plugged into its own individual electrical outlet which has a voltage rating that matches the rating plate.
This provides the best performance and also prevents overloading house wiring circuits which could cause a fire hazard from overheated wires.
See the Installation Instructions, Electrical Requirements section for specific electrical connection requirements.

Do Not Operate in Freezing Outdoor Conditions
This cool-only air conditioner was not designed for freezing outdoor conditions. It must not be used in freezing outdoor conditions.

Features and appearance will vary. Lights next to the touch pads on the air conditioner control panel indicate the selected settings.

Power Pad Turns air conditioner on and off. When turned on, the display will show the setting temperature. The unit will initiate automatically the ECO function under Cool, Dry, and Auto modes. NOTE: If the unit shuts off unexpectedly due to a power outage, it will restart with the previous function setting automatically when the power comes back on.
Display/Display Pad The display on the unit shows the setting temperature.
Display default behavior: The unit display will stay on all the time if the Display pad on the remote control is not pressed.
Press the Display pad on the remote control, the display on the unit will turn off immediately. The user interface on the unit will then illuminate for 5 seconds when any button is pressed on the user interface or on the remote control. Press the Display pad on the remote control again, the display on the unit will revert back to the default behavior.

Temp Increase + /Decrease � Pads 8VHWRFKDQJHWKHWHPSHUDWXUHVHWWLQJXSRU down. Press or hold either the Increase + / Decrease � pads until the desired temperature is shown on the display. This temperature will be automatically maintained anywhere between 62�F (17�C) and 86�F (30�C). If you want the display to read the actual room temperature, see Fan Only section.
Fan Pad Press Fan pad to select the Fan speed - Auto, Low, Med or High. Each time the pad is pressed, the fan speed mode is shifted. For some models, the fan speed can not be adjusted.
Mode Pad To choose operating mode, press Mode pad. Each time you press the pad, a mode is selected in a sequence that goes from Auto, Cool, Dry, and Fan. The indicator light beside will be illuminated and remained on once the mode is selected. The unit will initiate automatically the Eco function under Cool, Dry, and Auto modes.
See Eco Mode section for detailed instructions.

NOTE: The default temperature reading on the display is degree Fahrenheit ( �F). To change the display to degree Celcius (�C), press the Temp Increase + and Temp Decrease � buttons together and hold for 3 seconds. Repeat the process to change back to degree Fahrenheit (�F)

Sleep Pad The SLEEP mode sets the unit to gradually change settings over an 8 hour period to allow for some increased energy efficiency during sleep hours.
The SLEEP mode is available only in AUTO and COOL settings. Press the SLEEP mode pad and its light will illuminate. The air conditioner will automatically change the fan speed to AUTO. In COOL mode, the fan will stay in the AUTO speed setting for 8 hours from the time the SLEEP mode pad was pressed. The air conditioner will also raise the set point 2�F in 30 minutes and 2�F more in another 30 minutes where it will remain for the next 7 hours. After 8 hours, the air conditioner will resume the settings that were in place before the SLEEP mode pad was pressed. While the unit is in SLEEP mode, pressing the SLEEP pad again will return it to the settings that were in place before the SLEEP mode pad was pressed.
Timer Pad Press Timer pad, the Timer On or Timer Off indicator light illuminates. It indicates the Auto Start or Auto Stop program is initiated. For some units, keep pressing the Timer pad will cancel the timer settings.
Press or hold the Increase + /Decrease � pads to change the Auto time by 0.5 hour increments, up to

10 hours,then at 1 hour increments up to 24 hours. The control will count down the time remaining until start.
The selected time will register in 5 seconds, and the system will automatically revert back to display the previous temperature setting or room temperature when the unit is on (when the unit is off,there is no display.)

Filter Pad Press Filter pad to initiate this feature. This feature is a reminder to clean the Air Filter for more efficient operation. The LED(light) will illuminate after 250 hours of operation. To reset after cleaning the filter, press the Filter pad and the light will go off.
Eco Pad Press Eco pad to initiate this function. This function LVDYDLODEOHRQ&22/'5<$872RQO\$872 &22/,1*DQG$872)$1PRGHV7KHIDQZLOO continue to run for 3 minutes after the compressor shuts off. The fan then cycles on for 2 minutes at 10 minute intervals until the room temperature is above the set temperature, at which time the compressor turns back on and cooling starts.

Cool Mode
8VHWKH&RROPRGHDWLow, Med, High or Auto Fan 6SHHGIRUFRROLQJ8VHWKHTemperature Increase + / Decrease � pads to set the desired temperature between 62�F and 86�F in 1�F increments.
An electronic thermostat is used to maintain the room temperature. The compressor will cycle on and off to keep the room at the set level of comfort. Set the thermostat at a lower number and the indoor air will become cooler. Set the thermostat at a higher number and the indoor air will become warmer.

NOTE: If the air conditioner is off and is then turned on while set to a Cool setting or if turned from a fan setting to a Cool setting, it may take approximately 3 minutes for the compressor to start and cooling to begin.
Cooling Descriptions
For Normal Cooling--Select the Cool mode and High or Med fan with a middle set temperature.
For Maximum Cooling--Select the Cool mode and High fan with a lower set temperature.
For Quieter and Nighttime Cooling--Select the Cool mode and Low fan with a middle set temperature.

Auto Mode
:KHQ\RXVHWWKHDLUFRQGLWLRQHULQ$872PRGHLW will automatically select cooling or fan only operation depending on what temperature you have selected and the room temperature. The air conditioner will control room temperature automatically round the temperature point set by you.

In this mode, the fan speed cannot be adjusted, it starts automatically at a speed according to the room temperature.

Fan Only Mode
8VHWKHFan Only Mode at Low, Med or High fan speed to provide air circulation and filtering without cooling. Since fan-only settings do not provide cooling, a Set temperature cannot be entered. The room temperature will appear in the display.

Dry Mode
In this mode, the air conditioner will generally operate in the form of a dehumidifier. Since the conditioned space is a closed or sealed area, some degree of cooling will continue. On Dry mode,the fan speed is controlled at Low automatically.
Power Outage Recovery Feature
In the case of a power outage or interruption, the unit will automatically restart in the settings last used after the power is restored. If the Delay 1�24hr feature was set, it will resume countdown. You may need to set a new time if desired.

CARE AND CLEANING

Care and Cleaning

Grille and Case
Turn the air conditioner off and remove the plug from the wall outlet before cleaning.

To clean, use water and a mild detergent. Do not use bleach or abrasives.

Air Filter
The air filter behind the front grille should be checked and cleaned at least every 30 days or more often if necessary.
To remove:
Pull the tab on the right side of the unit until the filter is out.
To remove:
Open the inlet grille by pulling downward on the tabs at the top upper corners of the inlet grille until the grille is in a 45� position. Remove the filter.

Clean the filter with warm, soapy water. Rinse and let the filter dry before replacing it. Your filter is also dishwasher safe, top rack and straight placement in dishwasher is recommended.

Outdoor Coils
The coils on the outdoor side of the air conditioner should be checked regularly. If they are clogged with dirt or soot, they may be professionally cleaned.

How to Insert the Battery in the Remote Control

1. Remove the battery cover by sliding it according to the arrow direction.
2. Insert new battery, making sure that the (+) and (�) of battery are installed correctly.
3. Reattach the cover by sliding it back into position.

The 3-prong grounding plug minimizes the possibility of electric shock hazard. If the wall outlet you plan to use is only a 2-prong outlet, it is your responsibility to have it replaced with a properly grounded 3-prong wall outlet.

CAUTION
Do not, under any circumstances, cut or remove the third (ground) prong from the power cord. Do not change the plug on the power cord of this air conditioner. Aluminum house wiring may present special problems--consult a qualified electrician.

1. WINDOW REQUIREMENTS
� These instructions are for a standard double-hung window. You will need to modify them for other types of windows.
� The air conditioner can be installed without the accordion panels if needed to fit in a narrow window. See the window opening dimensions.
� All supporting parts must be secured to firm wood, masonry or metal.
� The electrical outlet must be within reach of the power cord.
� Follow the dimensions in the table and illustration for your model.

3. PREPARE THE AIR CONDITIONER
A. Install the top mounting rail with 4 Type A
screws from the outside of the case.

B. Hold the accordion panel in one hand and
gently pull back to free the open end.

2. STORM WINDOW REQUIREMENTS

A storm window frame will not allow the air conditioner to tilt toward the outside, and will keep it from draining properly. To adjust for this, attach a piece of wood to the sill.

C. Slide the free end of the accordion panel into
the side panel rails. Slide the panel down. Be sure to leave enough space to slip the top and bottom of the frame into the rails on the cabinet. NOTE: There is a right and a left accordion panel. Be sure to use the proper panel for each side.

4 PREPARE THE WINDOW
Cut the window seal (2 long strips) to the proper length. Peel off the backing and attach the seal to the underside of the window sash.

5. INSTALL THE AIR CONDITIONER IN THE WINDOW (Cont.)

6. INSTALL SASH LOCK AND FOAM TOP WINDOW GASKET

A. CAUTION
To prevent broken glass or damage to windows, on vinyl or other similarly constructed windows, attach the sash lock to the window side jamb with one Type B screw.
B. Cut the foam top window
gasket to the window width.

C. Stuff the foam between the glass and the
window to prevent air and insects from getting into the room. NOTE: If the gasket supplied does not fit your window, obtain appropriate material locally to provide a proper installation seal.

Possible Causes The air conditioner is unplugged. The fuse is blown/circuit breaker is tripped. Power failure.
The current interrupter device is tripped.
Airflow is restricted.
The temp control may not be set correctly.
The air filter is dirty.
The room may have been hot.
Cold air is escaping. Cooling coils have iced up. Ice blocks the air flow and stops the air conditioner from cooling the room.
The batteries are inserted incorrectly. The batteries may be dead. Hot, humid weather. The air conditioner is not tilted to the outside.
Moisture removed from air and drains into base pan.

What To Do Make sure the air conditioner plug is pushed completely into the outlet. &KHFNWKHKRXVHIXVHFLUFXLWEUHDNHUER[DQGUHSODFH the fuse or reset the breaker. The unit will automatically restart in the settings last used after the power is restored. There is a protective time delay (approximately 3 minutes) to prevent tripping of the compressor overload. For this reason, the unit may not start normal cooling for 3 minutes after it is turned back on. Press the RESET button located on the power cord plug. If the RESET button will not stay engaged, discontinue use of the air conditioner and contact a qualified service technician. Make sure there are no curtains, blinds or furniture blocking the front of the air conditioner. On models with touch pads: In the Cool mode, press the Decrease � pad. On models with control knobs, turn the temperature knob to a higher number. Clean the filter at least every 30 days. See the Care and Cleaning section. When the air conditioner is first turned on, you need to allow time for the room to cool down. Check for open furnace registers and cold air returns. See "Air conditioner freezing up" below. On models with control knobs, set the mode control at High Fan or High Cool with the Temp at 1 or 2. On models with touch pads, set the controls at High Fan or High Cool and set the thermostat to a higher temperature. Check the position of the batteries. They should be inserted in the opposite (+) and (�) direction. Replace the batteries. This is normal. For proper water disposal, make sure the air conditioner slants slightly from the case front to the rear. This is normal for a short period in areas with little humidity; normal for a longer period in very humid areas.

:DWHUGURSOHWVEHLQJWKURZQDJDLQVWWKHRXWVLGH coils can make a pinging noise. This helps cool the
condenser. You can reduce this noise by opening the
water hole seal located on the lower right side of the
unit. Opening this seal will lower the Energy Efficiency
of your unit. NOTE: Do not drill hole in the base pan.

Si la habitaci�n necesita m�s enfriamiento, la velocidad del ventilador aumentar� autom�ticamente. Si la habitaci�n necesita menos enfriamiento, la velocidad del ventilador descender� autom�ticamente.

Funci�n de recuperaci�n de p�rdida de energ�a
En caso de la p�rdida de la energ�a o interrupci�n, la unidad reiniciar� autom�ticamente en las funciones de la �ltima vez que fue usado una vez la energ�a sea restablecida. Para retirarlo: Empuje la leng�eta del lado derecho de la unidad hasta haber retirado el filtro.
Para retirarlo: Abra la rejilla de entrada empujando hacia abajo las leng�etas en las esquinas superiores de la rejilla de entrada, hasta que la rejilla se encuentre en una posici�n de 45�. Retire el filtro.
Limpie el filtro con agua caliente y jab�n. Enjuague y deje secar el filtro antes de su reemplazo. Su filtro es tambi�n de uso seguro en lavavajillas; se recomienda ubicar el mismo en el estante superior y colocarlo de forma parada en el lavavajillas.
PRECAUCI�N

Qu� hacer
Cerci�rese de que el acondicionador de aire est� enchufado totalmente en el tomacorriente.
Inspeccione los fusibles / caja de interruptores de la casa y reemplace cualquier fusible o reajuste el interruptor.
La unidad se reiniciar� autom�ticamente con la configuraci�n utilizada por �ltima vez luego de reestablecer la electricidad.
