Important Safety Instructions
- To reduce the risk of electric shock, never open the unit. Refer service to an authorized Rockville service center.
- Do not expose this unit to moisture.
- Ensure the unit is situated in a properly ventilated area.
- Make sure the unit is placed on a level and stable surface.
Setting Up Your RAM BT V2 Professional Sound System
The RAM BT V2 unit produces sound from its woofer and tweeter horn. Lower frequencies travel along the floor and walls, while the tweeter horn is more directional. Position the tweeter horns at ear level to the listening audience, ensuring they are not blocked by furniture. Woofer aiming is less critical.
For optimal sound dispersion and clear vocal reproduction, it is recommended to place speakers on stands, such as the Rockville RVES05 (not included), so the tweeter sounds radiate above the listening crowd.
How To Avoid Irritating Feedback
Microphone placement is crucial for avoiding feedback. Always set up your microphone behind the speaker. When making adjustments, approach the speaker from the rear.
Stage Monitor Setup
Stage monitors face the performer, which can cause feedback. To avoid this:
- Use a microphone with high directivity (cardioid or hyper-cardioid polar pattern).
- Never point the microphone directly in front of the speaker.
- Position microphones at a 90-degree angle to the stage monitor's axis (cardioid) or at an acute angle (hyper-cardioid).
A feedback eliminating processor can be added for additional flexibility.
Setting Level Controls
Follow these steps to set input level controls (gains):
- Unplug all inputs except the one you wish to set the gain for (e.g., Line In RCA inputs).
- Set the line level input device volume (smart phone, tablet, MP3 player, etc.) to 60%.
- Slowly turn up the Line Level control. Turn it down one or two notches if the clip indicator LED turns on or distortion is heard.
Please Note: For mixers, set the RAM-BTv2 Line Level to 50%, the mixer master volume to 50%, and adjust the mixer channel level. Boost the Line Level control if the signal is not strong enough. Adjust Mic Volume while speaking into the microphone in relation to the music volume.
Wireless Speaker Linking
The RAM-BT v2 supports True Wireless Stereo (TWS) linking, allowing two speakers to play in stereo wirelessly.
- Ensure both RAM-BTv2 units are powered ON and within 32 feet of each other.
- Press the Mode button on both units to enter Bluetooth mode.
- Press and hold the SCAN/TWS button on one unit for 3 seconds. The LCD should read "BLUETOOTH BT-A Connected" (primary unit).
- The secondary unit's LCD will read "BLUETOOTH BT-B Connected".
- On your phone's Bluetooth interface, select "ROCKVILLE". You should now hear audio from both units.
Please Note: In TWS mode, the primary unit controls all functions.
Application Uses
Microphone Presentations
The RAM-BT v2 features ultra-low noise Mic inputs via XLR and 1/4" TRS jacks.
- Ensure the Power switch is OFF.
- Plug the microphone into the XLR/1/4" combo jack.
- Switch the RAM-BT v2 unit ON.
- Adjust Mic Volume controls as described in the "Setting Level Controls" section.
Stand behind the unit when adjusting microphone levels to avoid feedback.
Talk Over Feature
When ON, the TALK OVER function prioritizes microphone volume. When OFF, microphones can be used at the same volume level as other features (Bluetooth, MP3, SD, etc.).
Line Input
Connect a mixer via the XLR input or other stereo signal sources (smart phone, tablet, MP3 player, CD player) via the RCA inputs. Do not use both at once.
- Ensure the Power switch is OFF.
- Connect the mixer or line level signal source.
- Switch the RAM-BT v2 unit ON.
- Adjust the Line In level control as described in the "Setting Level Controls" section.
Wireless Microphone Set-Up
Connect the two included wireless microphones:
- Ensure the RAM BT unit power switch is ON.
- Set Mic A Volume, Mic B Volume, and Channel B wireless Mic Volume to minimum.
- Press the VHF power button (red indicator LED should be ON).
- Switch on one microphone; it should automatically connect to its channel, and the corresponding LED will light up.
- Repeat for the second microphone.
- Use the Mic A / Mic B volume controls to adjust each microphone's volume.
Record Function
Record input from any mic or line source to a USB or SD card.
- Insert a USB or SD card and ensure the input source is ready.
- Press the red record button to begin recording (LCD displays "INITIAL").
- Press the red record button again to stop recording and save the audio files (named REC0001.MP3, etc.). Use Previous/Next buttons to find files.
Line Out Balanced Connection
The XLR Line Out allows outputting the amplifier signal to a powered subwoofer, another powered speaker, or an amp. Connect the output device using an XLR to XLR or XLR to 1/4" TRS cable. Rockville recommends RCXFM20E-B (XLR to XLR) or RCXMB20-B (XLR to 1/4" TRS) cables.
Bluetooth Pairing
Connect your Bluetooth-enabled device (iPod, iPhone, MP3 player, Android phone, etc.):
- Ensure the RAM-BT v2 unit's power switch is ON.
- Turn on the Bluetooth feature on your device.
- Press the Mode button on the RAM-BT v2 until "BLUETOOTH Disconnected" is displayed.
- On your device, select "ROCKVILLE" from the list of available Bluetooth devices.
- If pairing is successful, "BLUETOOTH Connected" will be displayed. You can now stream music.
Built-in Battery
The unit has a built-in 12 volt, 9 amp battery providing up to 12 hours of use. Battery status is indicated by LED1 and LED2:
| STATUS | LED1 | LED2 |
|---|---|---|
| 1. NOT charging | OFF | OFF |
| 2. Charging | OFF | ON |
| 3. Fully charged | ON | OFF |
| 4. Overvoltage | OFF | Flashing slowly |
| 5. Pulse charging | OFF | Flashing quickly |
To charge the battery, plug the unit into an outlet. Charging takes approximately 6 hours. Turn off the unit immediately when the battery is drained to prevent damage.
External Battery Power
The RAM BT can also be powered by an external 12V battery source (e.g., a car battery). Connect the positive (+) terminal to the +12V input and the negative (-) terminal to the GND input using spade terminals. Remember, RED is POSITIVE and BLACK is NEGATIVE.

Troubleshooting
No power
- Ensure the unit is plugged in and the power switch is ON.
- Check that the power cable is securely connected.
- Check and replace the fuse if necessary (see page 18).
No sound/distorted sound
- Verify all cables are plugged in correctly.
- Check Volume settings.
- Ensure your microphone is ON.

Buzzing sound
Use a proper cable. For 1/4" cables, ensure correct type (instrument, TS, or TRS) and check compatibility with connected gear and speaker input.
Mic feedback
Point microphones away from the speaker. Ensure mics are behind the speaker (see page 4).
Poor Mic sound
- Ensure you are using the Mic In port.
- If using wireless mics, check batteries, volume settings, and extend antennas fully.
Not enough bass
Add a subwoofer for deeper bass, as PA speakers are not optimized for very low frequencies.
