Thermostat Appearance
The thermostat features a digital display showing the current temperature, setpoint, operating mode, and fan speed. Key buttons allow for power control, time-off settings, temperature adjustments, and mode selection.
Operating Your Thermostat
Power On/Off
Press the power button to switch the thermostat on or off. The OFF icon will display when the thermostat is in off mode.
Time Off
You can set an automatic turn-off time. Press and hold the time-off button for more than 3 seconds. The timer icon will flash. Use the adjustment buttons to set the desired turn-off time, then press the button to exit.
Temperature Setting
In heating (?) or cooling (❄️) mode, press the up or down buttons to set the target room temperature.
Operating Mode
The thermostat supports various operating modes including Heating (?), Cooling (❄️), Auto (?), and System Off (?).
Fan Speed
The fan speed can be set to Auto (?), Low (?), Medium (?), High (?), or Off (?).
LCD Display
The LCD display shows:
- Current Room Temperature
- Setpoint Temperature
- Operating Mode (Heating, Cooling, Auto, Off)
- Fan Speed (Auto, Low, Medium, High, Off)
- Valve Status (Closed/Open)
- Freeze Protection (Enabled/Disabled)
Troubleshooting Tips
- Thermostat Doesn't Work: Ensure the thermostat is on, the keypad is unlocked, and the system is not in 'Off' mode. For heating, check if the temperature is set above room temperature. For cooling, check if the temperature is set below room temperature. Wait 5 minutes for the system to respond.
- System Turns Off Automatically: Verify that the 'Time Off' setting is not programmed to '0'.
Installation Guide
Important: Installation must be performed by a trained and experienced installer. Read all instructions carefully to avoid product damage or hazardous conditions. Caution: ELECTRICAL HAZARD. Disconnect power before installation, repair, or detachment.
Installation Tips
- The TF228WN is designed for standard 75x75x5mm wall mounting box installation.
- Install the thermostat approximately 5 feet (1.5m) above the floor in an area with good air circulation and average temperature.
- Avoid installing in locations affected by dead spots, hot/cold air from ducts, direct sunlight, radiant heat from appliances, or concealed pipes/chimneys.
- Ensure the mounting box and wall temperature are within the operating range.

Wiring Diagrams
Refer to the provided diagrams for wiring the thermostat with Honeywell Home VC4013/VN4013 VS4016 and VC6013/VN6013 systems. Ensure all screws are locked tightly to prevent wire breakage.
Installation Setup
Enter Installation Setup Mode by pressing and holding the designated button for 3 seconds. Use the adjustment buttons to configure various settings:
- ISU Code 1: Temperature Display Adjustment: Adjust the displayed temperature by -2°C to +2°C (or -4°F to +4°F). Default is 0°C (0°F).
- ISU Code 2: Temperature Scale: Select between Celsius (°C) or Fahrenheit (°F). Default is °C.
- ISU Code 3: Fan Control Type: Choose between Auto only, Constant only, or Both. Default is Both.
- ISU Code 4: CPH Value (heating): Set Cycles Per Hour for heating (1-12). Default is 4.
- ISU Code 5: CPH Value (cooling): Set Cycles Per Hour for cooling (1-6). Default is 3.
- ISU Code 6: System Type: Select Heat only, Cool only, Two pipes heating/cooling. Default is Two pipes heating/cooling.
- ISU Code 7: Options: Display room temperature (Default) or setpoint.
- ISU Code 8: Heating Range Stop: Set the maximum heating temperature (10-32 °C / 50-90 °F). Default is 32°C (90°F).
- ISU Code 9: Cooling Range Stop: Set the minimum cooling temperature (10-32 °C / 50-90 °F). Default is 10°C (50°F).
- ISU Code 10: Freeze Protection: Enable or disable freeze protection. Default is Disabled.
- ISU Code 11: Keypad Lockout: Configure keypad lockout options (All keys available, System button locked, Fan and System buttons locked, All buttons locked except power, All buttons locked). Default is All keys available.
