(NASDAQ:SPAR) today announced its board of directors has approved a special cash dividend of $0.07 per share on the Company's common stock. The Charlotte, Mich.-based manufacturer of custom chassis and emergency vehicles said the special dividend is payable on June 29, 2001 to shareholders of record at the close of business on May 29, 2001. Spartan Motors has paid a special cash dividend in each of the past 13 years. "As we look at the operational improvements we have been able to achieve over the past two quarters, we are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead," said John Sztykiel, president and chief operating officer of Spartan Motors.
