System Architecture

Simple WaveLinx Wired System

The simple WaveLinx Wired system involves components like an Area Controller (e.g., SCMD4), wallstations, occupancy/daylight sensors, and LED luminaires with DALI drivers. These connect via the WaveLinx Wired Local Bus. The system can also integrate with 0-10V LED controllers, powerpacks, relay packs, and dual technology occupancy sensors.

Complete WaveLinx Wired System

A complete WaveLinx Wired system expands on the simple setup, incorporating multiple Area Controllers (like ILS-0020, ILM-2110, ILL-3301), relay packs, DMX fixtures, curtain/blind controls, and reverse phase track lighting. It connects to building networks via Ethernet (using modules like EG2) and integrates with Building Management Systems (BMS) like BACnet, as well as applications like iLumin APP and network timeclocks (TC1). The system utilizes the WaveLinx Wired Network for communication, often daisy-chained using specific cable types.

Wiring Diagram

The Sensor Powerpack connects to a 120/277 VAC, 240 VAC, or 347 VAC 20 amp branch circuit for unit power. It provides a 15V output to power low voltage sensors. The low voltage section connects to a junction box using an NPT adapter and lock nut. The diagrams illustrate proper wiring between line voltage input, low voltage sensors, and the two-wire communications bus.

Class 1 Wiring

Class 1 wiring involves connections for power (15 VDC), control (occupancy), common, daylighting, and commissioning. It shows connections to the Sensor Powerpack (e.g., SPP-MV-DC1) and to additional sensors, with a maximum of five sensors per DALI pack. Specific wire colors are indicated: RED (POWER 15VDC), BLUE (CONTROL-OCCUPANCY), BLACK (COMMON), YELLOW (OCC/DAYLIGHTING), WHITE (COMMISSIONING).

Class 2 Wiring

Class 2 wiring handles the line voltage input (HOT, NEUTRAL) and the WaveLinx Wired Local Bus. It specifies connecting either the white/orange or white/black lead to neutral, depending on power requirements, and capping off the unused lead. The WaveLinx Wired Local Bus (PURPLE wire) connects to the SCMD4.

Overview

The Sensor Powerpack supplies power to low voltage sensors and transmits occupancy data status over the WaveLinx Wired Local Bus to the SCMD4. It is ideal for open area spaces requiring multiple dual technology sensors.

Sample System Topology

This diagram illustrates the main components of the WaveLinx Wireless and Wired Connected Lighting system. The WaveLinx wireless system uses IEEE 802.15.4 mesh technology. The WaveLinx wired system controls devices via relay, 0-10V, DMX, and the WaveLinx wired digital local bus, connecting to the building LAN via modules like the EG2. Area controllers in both systems communicate over their respective networks.

The system supports 3rd Party Integration via IoT API and Smart Lighting Apps. Key components include the Trellix Core, various Area Controllers (WAC, ILS-0020, ILM-2110, ILL-3301), sensors (occupancy, daylight, dual tech), wallstations, luminaires (LED with DALI or 0-10V drivers), relay packs, and DMX fixtures. Integration with Building Management Systems (BMS) and mobile applications is also supported.
