To write names on the diectory card, follow the steps below.

Using menus
Press MENU/ems! to show the first menu item,

Installation preparation
Install the telephone base close to a telephone jack and a power outlet not
controlled by a wall switch. The telephone base should be placed on a flat
surface. For optimum range and better reception. place the telephone base in a
central and open location
If you subscribe to high-speed Internet sen/ice (digital subscriber line - DSL)
through your telephone lines, you must install a DSL filter between the
telephone line cord and the telephone wall jack (see page X). The filter prevents
noise and caller ID problems caused by DSL Interference. Please contact your
DSL service provider for more hformation about DSL filters
Your product may be shipped with a protective sticker covering the telephone
base display - remove it before use.

Avoid placing the telephone base too close to:
0 Communication devices such as television sets, VCRs. or other cordless
telephones
- Excessive heat sources.
0 Noise sources such as a window wih traffic outside. motors. microwave ovens.
refrigerators, or fluorescent lighting
0 Excessive dust sources such as a worishop or garage.
0 Excessive moisture.
- Extremely low temperature.
0 Mechanical vibration or shock such as on top oi the washing machine or work
bench
Getting started
Planning your system
The 5867118 package includes one telephone base and one cordless hand-
set (pre-registered at the factory). The included cordless handset has been
assigned extension number 1. The system supports a maximum of tour exter-
nal lines, which are provided by your local telephone service provider.
You can expand the system by adding up to nine cordless handsets (AT&T
model 5867108), or a combination of cordless handsets and one cordless
headset (ATE-T model TL7600/TL7610/TL7611). The system automatically
assigns an extension number to each handset

1. If you have more than one phone line. and single-line phone jacks, you
must purchase two-line adapters (modelxxx, part numberXXXX).
2. If you have two or three phone lines. you will need one two-line adapter
for each phone if you have four phone lines, you will need two two-line
adapters for each phone.
3‘ If you have one»line phone jacks, and four phone lines, you will also need
to purchase two short telephone line cords (modelXXXX part number

4. If you have DSL (digital subscriber line) high speed internet service. you
probably need to have a DSL splitter installed at your location by your DSL
provider (see page X).
