NOTE: TRAPS are listed with corresponding EMS alarms in “Troubleshooting Alarms” on
page 185.
As som e alarm s can be enabled or disabled, corresponding t raps will accordingly
be enabled or disabled. Thresholds dictate when an enabled trap is activat ed. For
a list of which alarm s can be enabled/ disabled, see “ Enable and Disable Host and
Rem ote Unit Alarm s” on page 178.

APPENDIX A: UPGRADING AN LPA
CAUTION! Completing this upgrade causes a Loss of Service. Complete this procedure during
normal maintenance time.
NOTE: Any LPA firmware version prior to V1.13 identifies itself as a URH PCS LPA via the I2C.
Only LPAs upgraded to V1.13 will correctly identify themselves via I2C. You can upgrade
any LPA with this utility.
NOTE: The UMTS LPA is used as an example in this document.
Do the following t o upgrade an LPA.
1Ensure that your laptop Network-I nterface Connection ( NI C) is configured for
DHCP.
2Access the Hardware Inventory report for the Host and Rem ot e Unit ( s):
aI n t he System Menu bar, click System Information > Get Information,.
bI n t he Reports panel Type list, select Hardware Inventory.
cDet erm ine t he I P address for the Host and Rem ote Unit ( s).

3Login t o the Host using telnet or ssh.
4From t he Host, login to t he Rem ote Unit using the following com m and, where
N is the Rem ote Unit I D ( 1 - 8) :
sshremote N
5On the Rem ote Unit, log on as root.

9To see t he inventory of t he unit to be upgraded, ent er t he m odule slot num ber
that you obt ained in St ep 2.
NOTE: If the unit has V1.12 or earlier firmware on it, it will always self identify as a URH 1.9GHz
PCS LPA regardless of its actual LPA type. This has been corrected in version 1.13. In this
example, although the unit is reported as URH1.9, it is actually a UMTS module.
1 0 To upgrade t he LPA, t ype t he num ber t hat corresponds t o the LPA to be
upgraded.
1 1 Select t he firm ware to use during t he upgrade.

APPENDIX B: DUPLEXER PROGRAMMING
UTILITY
A Prism system can report a Duplexer Mism at ch Alarm . This alarm is used t o
ensure t hat t he Duplexer is being used wit h t he correct frequency bands.
For exam ple, t he PRU/ URU supports an 850 Duplexer and an 850 APAC Duplexer.
The 850 Duplexer handles 869- 894 MHz, whereas t he 850 APAC Duplexer
support s 870- 890 MHz. The Host DART can support either band, but if you at t em pt
to configure a frequency bet ween 869- 894 MHz wit h t he 870- 890 MHZ Duplexer,
the system will generate a Duplexer Mism atch Alarm .
Previous versions of PRU/ URU hardware did not have t he Duplexer program m ed.
I f t his is the case, t hen a Duplexer Mism atch Alarm will be report ed. Prism releases
that are 6.0.0.12 or higher include a Duplexer Program m ing Ut ilit y, which allows
field program m ing of t he Duplexer t hrough it s Low Noise Am plifier ( LNA).
CAUTION! It is recommended that you contact ADC to insure that this is warranted.
The nam e of the utilit y is LNAconfig and it is available via a t elnet session int o t he
Rem ote Unit .
The steps to program through t he Duplexer Program m ing Utilit y are:
1Ensure that your laptop Network-I nterface Connection ( NI C) is configured for
DHCP.
2Access the Hardware Inventory report for the Host and Rem ot e Unit ( s):
aI n t he System Menu bar, click System Information > Get Information,.
bI n t he Reports panel Type list, select Hardware Inventory.
cDet erm ine t he I P address for the Host and Rem ote Unit ( s).
dDet erm ine t he num ber of the LNA t hat you want t o program ; see “ RF
Module Capabilit ies and GUI Represent at ion” on page 21
3Login t o the Host using telnet or ssh.
4From t he Host, login to t he Rem ote Unit using the following com m and, where
N is the Rem ote Unit I D ( 1 - 8) :
sshremote N
5Log on t o t he Rem ote Unit as root.
aType: root
bEnt er t he following Password: ADCfwu

7Select t he LNA # to read or program :
8Select t he desired Duplexer type (1-21) or 0 to read t he current Duplexer t ype:
9Once the Duplexer has been program m ed, verify t he correct Duplexer t ype by
perform ing a read of t he LNA as well as checking t he Duplexer type shown in
