How to sign up for an Acer ID
1. Ensure you are connected to the internet.
2. Open the Acer Portal app from the Start screen.
3. Install any required updates.
4. Sign up for an Acer ID or sign in if you already have an Acer ID.
Register your Acer product
You can register your product from Acer Portal directly by selecting

the Switch 3 User’s Manual. The Switch 3 Users Manual contains useful
information applying to your new computer. It covers basic topics such as using the
keyboard and audio, etc.
This guide contains detailed information on such subjects as system utilities, data
recovery, expansion options and troubleshooting. In addition it contains warranty
information and the general regulations and safety notices for your computer.

Software installation
The first time you turn on your computer, it will automatically install software and set
up for use. This may take some time, please do not turn off your computer; wait
until the installation has finished.
Recovery
You should create recovery backups as soon as you can. The Acer Care Center
program allows you to create recovery backups and then to restore or reinstall
applications and drivers provided by Acer.

Attaching and detaching the keyboard
The Acer Snap Hinge Gold makes attaching and detaching the keyboard fast and
easy.
Detach the computer from the keyboard by lifting one corner to release it from the
keyboard to function as a tablet.

Attach the pad and keyboard to function as a laptop. Prop the keyboard up using
the magnetic strip at the top of the keyboard for a better typing experience.
The adjustable kickstand allows the computer to also function as a display that you
can control using touch input.

Using the keyboard
The keyboard has full-sized keys and an embedded numeric keypad, separate
cursor, lock, Windows, function and special keys.
Hotkeys
The computer employs hotkeys or key combinations to access most of the
computer’s controls like screen brightness and volume output.
To activate hotkeys, press and hold the Fn key before pressing the other key in the
hotkey combination.

Fn + F3 Airplane mode
Turns on/off the computer’s network
devices.
(Network devices vary by configuration.)
Fn + F4 Sleep Puts the computer in Sleep mode.
Fn + F5 Display toggle
Switches display output between the display
screen, external monitor (if connected) and
both.
Fn + F6 Display off Turns the display screen backlight off to
save power. Press any key to return.
Fn + F7 Touchpad toggle Turns the built-in touchpad on and off.
Fn + F8 Speaker toggle Turns the speakers on and off.
Fn + F11 NumLk Number Lock Turns the embedded numeric keypad on or
off.
Fn + F12 Scr Lk Scroll Lock Turns Scroll Lock on or off.
