Actiontec Electronics, Inc. 760 North Mary Ave., Sunnyvale, CA 94085 USA Wireless 11n VDSL2/GigE Modem Gateway Model #: C1000A Quick Start Guide Version: 1.0 (Draft to be review) Connect the Gateway to a Computer 1. Get C1000A Wireless 11n VDSL2 Modem Gateway from the Quick Start Kit and take it out of the bag. 2. Get the Power Cord from your DSL Quick Start Kit. (Power: External, 12V DC, 1.5A made by Leader Electronics Inc.; Model: MU18‐D120150‐A1) 3. Plug the smaller end of the Power Cord into the Black Port on the back of the Gateway. 4. Plug the larger end of the Power Cord into a Power Outlet. 5. Make sure the Power Switch is On. 6. Make sure the Power Light on the Gateway is SOLID Green. 7. Get the Yellow Cable. 8. Plug one end of the Yellow Cable into any of the Yellow Ports on the back of the Wireless DSL Gateway. 9. Make sure that your computer is turned on. Then, plug the other end of the Yellow Cable into the Ethernet Port on the back of the computer. An Ethernet Port looks similar to a regular Phone Jack, but is slightly larger. 10. Make sure that 1 of the 4 Ethernet lights on the Gateway is Green. This may take a few moments. 11. Get the Black or Green DSL Cable from your DSL Quick Start Kit. 12. Plug one end of the DSL Cable into the Green Port located on the back of the Gateway. 13. Plug the other end of the DSL Cable into the Phone Jack closest to your Computer. 14. Make sure All Devices with the same phone number as your DSL Line has Phone Filters. This includes telephones, fax machines, caller ID boxes, satellite TV receivers, TiVo devices, and answering machines. 15. Make sure that that Power and DSL Lights are solid Green. This may take up to 30 seconds. Note: If the DSL Light continues to blink, make sure you received notification from your DSL Internet Service Provider that your DSL service has been activated. Configure the Gateway 1. Open a Web Browser (FireFox or Internet Explorer, for example). In the address bar, enter http://192.168.0.1 then press Enter on the keyboard. Note: When you open your web browser you may get a page cannot be displayed error. This is normal and will not effect the instructions in step 1. 2. The "Main Menu" screen appears. Select Quick Setup Note: If this screen does not appear, make sure our Ethernet port is configured for Dynamic IP. 3. Select No Realm from the drop down menu then enter the PPP username and password. Configure Wireless Connection and Security 1. Click on Wireless Setup. 2. Select a name for your wireless network and enter it in the "Network Name" field. Then click Apply. 3. Click on Wireless Security from the left column menu. 4. Select the type of wireless security that you want to use Actiontec recommends using WPA&WPA2. The following steps will show you how to enable WPA&WPA2 wireless security. Note: All of your other wireless devices will need to support that same type of wireless security chosen in order to connect to your wireless network. 5. Enter in a password or pre‐shared key. The key must be at least 8 characters long. Click Apply to continue. Congratulations you are now connected! Specifications 1. Coaxial Cable If applicable, the coaxial cable screen shield needs to be connected to the Earth at the building entrance per ANSI/NFPA 70, the National Electrical Code (NEC), in particular Section 820.93,“Grounding of Outer Conductive Shield of a Coaxial Cable,” or in accordance with local regulation.
