Installation and Operation instructions
The Acumen Model H Remote Control is des‘gned tor use with decorative gas lireplaces and wall heaters
using SIT 852 Nova gas valve
The Model H Transmitter is an eightbutton hand held transmitter. which turn the gas on left or as a thermostat,
adjust the Home height, and turn the blower on! off and adjust its speed to Hi-Medium-Low. The display at
the transm‘mer shows the clock, current room temperature, target temperature, timer setting, on/ofl status
and low battery indicator.
Installation Precautions :
The Model H Remote Control is tested safe when installed in accordance with this installation manual. It is
your responsibility to read all instruction before starting installation and to iollow these instructions carelully
during installation
The Model H Remote Control MUST be installed by a qualified service technician.
The Model H Remote Control is careiully engineered and MUST be installed only as specified. ll you modiiy
it or any at its components, you may possibly cause a fire hazard.

could void the user's authority to operate the equipment. This equipment has been tested and tound to
comply with the limits tor a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 oi the FCC Rules. These limits are

equipment generates, uses. and can radiate radio lrequency energy and, ii not installed and used in
accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications, However, there
is no guarantee that tnterterence will not occur in a particular installation it this equipment does cause
harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off
and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interterence by one or more oi the tollowing measures:
— Reorlent or relocate the receiver antenna.
— increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
— Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.
— Consult the dealer or an experienced radio TV technician tor help.

1 .0 installation instruction
1.1 lnstalling the Receiver
WARNING : TURN ELECTRICAL POWER OFF AT THE CIRCUIT BEAKER BEFORE BEGINNING THIS
INSTALLATION.
1. Connect the electrical serviw wires to the junction box ol the fireplace,
the receiver onto the base pan at the fireplace.

a. Connem the wires labelled “ Main Valve "to the Milfivolt generator and millivolt valve (see Fig. 1) or
the Emergency Switch (Fig.2). Switch the Emergency Switch to OFF position it it is installed. Use the
Emergency Switch only at power failure.

Operation Instructions :
The Model H Remote Control has 5 operating modes. They are : Manual. Auto. Timer. Flame Adjustment
and Fan Adjustment.
You can only operate the Flame Adiustment and Fan modes in Manual or Auto Modest
Use the Up and Down buttons to set the target temperature between 45°F and 90°F.
2.1 Operating Modes :
A. Manual Mode :
1. Press the Manual Onlofl button once to light the fireplace. Push the button again to turn it oh.
2. in Manual mode the Remote Transmitter will not turn the fireplace oft even the room temperature
exceeds the target temperature.
B. Auk) Mode :
1, Set the desire target temperature
a Press the Auto On/Oii button once to edit/ate the Auto mode. in Auto Mode the Remote Transmitter
will automatically turn on the fireplace when the room temperature is below the target temperature
and turn oh the fireplace when the room temperature is above the target temperature.
3. Press Auto OnIOit button or Manual On/Ofi buttons to turn ott the Iirepl ace (it it is already on ) and exit
Auto Mode.
WARNlNG :
IT TAKES SOME TIME FOR THE RECEIVER T0 RESPONSE TO THE TRANSMiiTER. DO NOT PRESS THE
MANUAL AND I OR AUTO ON/OFF BUTTONS MORE THAN ONCE WITH 2 SECONDS FOR CORRECT
OPERATION.
C. Timer Mode :
1. You can set the timer to the length oi time you want the fireplace to operate ( 1 to 120 minutes ).
2. Press the “ Time Set“ button once. The Timer display “----" will blink.
3. Press the Up and Down buttons to set the timer: The LCD will display the time chosen.
4 The timer setting can be cancelled at any time by pressing the “ Time Cancel “ or Manual OnIOH
buttons. .
5 Press Auto OnIOfl button to turn on the fireplace.
6. The fireplace Will turn oft at the end oi the timer setting.
DA Flame and Flame Adiustment :
t. In Manual and Auto modes you can adjust the Ilame height and tan speed oi the “replace.
2. Press the Flame button to adjust the flame height to 20, 40. 60, 80 & 1009’s.
a. Press the Fan button to adjust the tan speed to Low, Med, High or Ott.
4. The tan will turn on and off automatically with the fireplace place,
5 Child— ProoI Function :
t Remove the cover at the back at the Remote Transmitter to expose the CHlLD-PROOF switch.
2. Slide the CHiLD—PROOF switch to position marked C/P to activate the CHILD-PROOF Iunction.
“ 'Child-Prool' " will appear on the LCD.
3 in CHILD-PROOF the Remote Transmitter will work normally except the buttons become in-operational.
A. Press the Up and Down buttons in the following sequence, Up-Down-Down—Up-Down. within 2 seoond
will temporarily restore button Iunction. “ ‘Child—Prooi' “ will disappear irorn the LCD
5A It no button is pressed within 2 minutes. the Remote Transmitter will return to Child—Prool function and
“ ‘Child‘Proot‘ ” reappear on the LCD until the Child-Prool switch is slided back to the other position.
F. Settings :
1. Press and hold Set button Ior about 2 seconds.
2. The hour display will flash. Use the Up and Down buttons to set hour.
3. Press the Set button again and the minute display will iiash. Use the Up and Down buttons to set
minute. .
4. Press the Set bunon again and the ”F or “0 display will flash. Use the Up and Down buttons to select
the Remote Transmitter to display temperature “F or °C.
G. Batteries
1. The Remote Transmitter uses 3 AAA-size batteries. Replace these batteries at least once a year or
when the low battery indicator on the LCD is on.
2. After you take out the batteries, wait tor at least 1 minute beiore putting lresh batteries to the Remote
Transmitter
3. Use only alkaline batteries.
3.0 IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURE :
Vou can set a private code into your system to prevent aocidental operation by other transmitter nearby. See

3.1 Coding instructions :
Remove the cover on the back the Remote Transmitter to expose the code switches. Slide the code switches
to your choice at ON or OFF positions. FACTORY SEl'TlNG is ALL “ OFF
There are also code switches on the back at the Remote Receiver. Slide the code switches to exactly match
the settings on the Remote Transmitter.
Replace the cover of the Remote Transmitter and the Receiver. The system is now ready to operate.
