Description The SpreadNem SNQSt-OUTDOOR TRANSMITTER ls a wireless magnetic contact device. designed tor outdoor use. The main parts of the TRANSMITTER are Shawn below. Pan-head Base screw plate Robertson head screw The components at the TRANSMIWER’S PCB are as follows: Batteries Reed switches Battery tab —' P1 —li Tamper switch —f— -— Magnet Antenna —i% y .. Back cover —- ;—.— . fl \? When the external magnet rests against the TRANSMITTER. one or more of the TRANSMITTER’s three internal reed switches closes, When the magnet is removed, the switches open and the transmitters sends a signal to the system's radierreouency (RF) receiver, Mounting location Choose a mounting location on the lrame or the protected door or window that is' - as high as possible . more than six inches lrom any RF tranernttter - away from large metal obiects (like window screens. motel doors. metal window lrarnes, circuit breaker boxes. air ducts). sirwe metal can block or distort the trarsrnitter's RF signal . at least lour leet from the receiver. The TRANSMli'rER’s nomlnal Break Gap is 5.6 cm (2-'/. in.) while its Make Gap ls 5 cm (2 in.). The Break Gap is the mlnlmu'n distance the magnet must be moved away lrom the contact beiofe the switches open. The Make Gap is the maximum distance the magnet can be from the contact before the switches close. These values can vary. depending on site ctmdltlons, Mount the base plate For best results. test the trammitter before mounting it permanently. (The test procedure is described in the "Scan tor One Transmitter" section of the SNQOO-PROG RF Programming Msnud PIN 5-051-136-00.) if the test results are ursatislactoty. relocate the transmitter and repeat the test. The transmitter can be mounted vertically or horizontally with equal eliectiveness. To mount the TRANSMITTER's base plate. do the folltwving: 1. Remove the two Robertson heed screws from the ends of the housing. Open the housing by inserting a screwdr‘wer into the latch opening on the TRANSMITTER‘S front cover. Pivot the screwdriver until the latch releases. 2. Separate the base ‘ plate trom the rest of the transmitter. Use it Mounting screw __>- as template to merit the mounting notes as shown. 3. Remove the base plate from the trail and drill the pilot holes. Tamper screw —-@ (optional) l 4. Secure the base plate /' to the wall with its M°unflfl9 Screw (M4) pan-head or . hex—head screws (not Lam" m provided). Optional tamper protection The TRANSMH‘I’ER ls automatically monitored for cover tamper conditions. To monitor for wall tamper conditions as well, do the lollowing: t Remove the protruding tamper knockout from the base plate. 2. lnsen 3 its screw into the opening that is created when the knockout Is removed. Adjust the height at the screw head to ensure good contact lM'th the TRANSMIWER‘S circuitry. Activate the transmitter To action the transmitter. do the following 1. Separate the back cover and PCB lrom the front cover by removing the panhead screws. CAUTION no not touch the antenna on the PCB. it the antenna is bent or damaged. the transmitter could he damaged or its range could be significantly redooed. 2. Apply power to the mmsmmsa by removing the battery tab. 3. Program the TRANSMITTER as desuibed in the SNSDO—PROG Programming Manual (PIN 5—051-136—00). Label the TRANSMITTER When you have finished programming the TRANSMITTER. make a note oi its programming on the label that is provided, and affix this tahel to the book cover, The intomration on this label will make it easier to maintain and repair the system in the future. A completed Transmitter Device ID Label contains the following inicrmation: {PCODE P. cops: the system's property code 71/24 i CHANNEL: the system‘s channel CHANNEL l 1 (either 1 012) ’ ZONE of ‘ ZONE: the zone number assigned to ‘. DEWCE 0} the transmitter r _ DEVICE: the device mnber assigned r CHEW“ ‘ 5° to the transmitter “Am” ’ 9 9 ”7 CHECK-IN: the treouervcy at which supervisory signals are sent BATTERY: the date the batteries were installed Reassemble the TRANSMITTER Once you have labeled the TRANSMITI'ER, put it back together by doing the tollowing: 1. Apply a small amount oi Chemplex® 10 grease to the o-ring on the back cover to enhance the TRANSMITI’ER's weatherproof seal. 2. insert the PCB and its pack cover into the tront cover. Screw the covers together, using the two ponheod screws. (it you have difficulty reassemtting the covers. verity that you have al|gned the covers property; they will not fit together properly it one is upside down.) 3. Snap the TRANSMITTER onto its base plate, Use the Robertson screws to secure the unit in piece. _____——.—— Maunt the magnet Mount the magnet. using with its (M4) pan-head or hex-head screws (not provided). / Be sure to a|igl the center at the magnet with the mark on the transmitter. as shown. Align magnet to TRANSMITTER Maintenance For continued rellability, the SN931-OUTDOOR TRANSMIWER should be tsted at least once a year. Replace the batteries in the TRANSMITTER either after it reports a |ow battery condition, or alter five years of use, whichever comes first. The TRANSMITTER taka two Vs AA lithium batteries. ________.—_— FCC Notice The ModelSN911-OUTDOOR TRASMITIER generates and uses radio frequency energy. it not installed and used In accordance With the manufacturers Instructlons, it may cause Merterence to radio and television reception.
