main menu, please click on the microSD tab located in the bottom right corner of the app. All recorded
events will be displayed in this menu.
4.3 Motion Detection Setup
Setting up motion detection for the Zencam Cube camera through the Zencam security app will allow
you to choose how your camera will react to and record motion.
There are a lot of customization options for motion detection that can be configured directly through the
app. This gives you complete control over how to make motion detection work the way you want it to.
Here is a list of all the advanced configuration options for motion detection:
●
Schedule: Modify motion detection recording timings.
●
Sensitivity: Select motion detection sensitivity.
●
Set Regions: Specify motion detecting regions of the screen.
●
Snapshots: Toggle this switch to take snapshot when motion is detected. Follow
the steps below to setup motion detection on your camera.
22
●
Email Notifications: Allows motion alerts to be sent to your email address.
With Zencam cameras, setting up motion detection is a snap. Please note, when setting up motion
detection on your camera, motion events will be recorded and accessed on either the cloud or via a
micro SD card depending on your preference. To set up motion detection on your device, please follow
the steps provided below:
Step 1: Please log into your camera via the Zencam Security app.
Step 2: Once you are logged into your camera, please select the settings (gear wheel) icon in the upper
right-hand corner.
Step 3: In the settings menu, please tap on the "Motion Detection" tab.
Step 4: In the motion detection tab, please make sure to toggle the toggle switch to the "On" position to
enable motion detection on your camera.
23
4.4 Push Notification Setup
Push notifications are an incredibly useful way to get instantly notified of motion events when you’re on
the go. This is a very convenient way to stay connected without having to constantly monitor your live
feeds. It allows you to immediately tune into what’s happening, when it’s happening.
There are several options for configuring exactly how you receive these notifications or “alerts” through
your smartphone as well as options for what type of events trigger a notification.
Step 1: Please log into your camera via the Zencam Security app.
Step 2: Once you are logged into your camera, please select the settings (gear wheel) icon in the upper
right-hand corner.
Step 3: In the settings menu, please tap on the "Push Notifications" tab.
24
Step 4: In the push notifications tab, please make sure to toggle the toggle switch to the "On" position to
enable push notifications on your camera.
4.5 Email Alert Setup
The Zencam Cube Series camera can send you email alerts to notify you when motion detection occurs.
This is an alternative to using push notifications, which come directly through the Zencam security app.
Instead, email alerts can come directly to your email app and can also, of course, be checked on a
computer.
Email alerts can be a great way to keep an email record of all your motion detection activity, instead of
the app. However, keep in mind that email alerts can be set up and used at the same time as having
push notifications active.
It is important to note that, even though you can use the same email address as both the sender and
receiver, it is highly recommended that you create a brand-new email (preferably a Gmail) account to
use and configure for email alerts. This will not mean that you must use and log into two separate
emails, because you can forward all emails from the dedicated email alert account to your main account.
25
The benefit of doing this is twofold. One, because setting up a new account means you can set up email
alerts without having to adjust or modify any of the security settings on your primary account and can
work without a hitch. Two, because it will prevent your primary email from being flooded by motion
detection alert emails. It is highly recommended that you do not forward your new email alert account
to your primary account until you are satisfied with the sensitivity settings and frequency of motion
alerts.
Step 1: Please log into your camera via the Zencam Security app.
Step 2: Once you are logged into your camera, please select the settings (gear wheel) icon in the upper
right-hand corner.
Step 3: In the settings menu, please tap on the "Email Alerts" tab at the bottom on the menu.
Step 4: In the Email Alerts menu, please first choose your email provider. In this case, we are using Gmail
26
Step 5: Once the email provider is selected, the app will then automatically import the correct SMTP
Server, port number and Authentication for your specific email provider. You will then input your email
address in the "Username" field, your email address password in the "Password" field, and in the "Sender"
field you will put your email address in as well.
27
Step 6: Once this information is input into your app, we can then input the recipients. There can be a
total of 6 total recipients max to receive alerts for your camera however, for this example we are just
setting up one. Please enter the email address of the recipient who will be receiving the alerts and then
press the "+" icon to add it to your recipients list. Once this is complete please press "Save" to save your
email alerts settings.
Congratulations! Your Zencam camera is now set up for Email Alerts.
