In addition to thesse two cha aracters “A AT”, data pa ackets can n receive up p to 260 ch haracters in le ength (inclu uding the final null character)). The maxximum leng gth of the URC or resp ponse messsages repo orted by MT M is limited d to 668 ch haracters rrange. Each h comman nd line ca an contain one AT command.. For the URC or response messages, it is not allow wed to rep port more than one message iin a line. Each line endss with a ca arriage retturn. S3/S4 4 comman nd modifica ation is un navailable to users. Thesse principle es are app plied in the communic cations bettween MT and TE. To increase th he readability and normativity of the co ommand, th here should be no spacce after a comma a or colon in a new defin ned interfa ace, for example: AT+X XXX: , . Whe en an AT command d is transmitted from TE, the e second command d will be transsmitted aftter a respo onse of the e first com mmand from m MT, oth herwise the e second one will not be e executed.. It may take a long time to feedb back the results of the AT ccommand, and the resp ponses ma ay be broken by URC C. To avo oid this inte erface, it iss recomme ended to repo ort the resu ult codes asynchrono ously. Therre are two kinds of interface. On ne is that an URC is re eported wh hen waiting for a re esponse. The comm mand is sttill in the implementation n process and the result code es will be reported a after the URC. The othe er is that the respon nse will be e reported d mixing up with the e URC. Th he RING command is a special URC. For so ome special cases, it will be ussed as a command term minator. Fo or example e, when it is in the implementation proccess of a hang-up command, the RING URC will term minate the hang-up prrocess abn normally. Unle ess otherw wise specified, all the default en ncoding forrmat betwe een TE and d MT are GSM M 7 bit Defa ault Alphab bet, accord ding to 3GPP TS 23.038 Sectio on 6.
