Step 1: Plug in the 85W MagSafe Power Adapter to provide power to the
MacBook Pro and charge the battery.
MakesuretheACplugisfullyinsertedintothepoweradapterandtheelectrical
prongsonyourACplugareintheircompletelyextendedposition.InserttheAC
plugofyourpoweradapterintoapoweroutletandtheMagSafeconnectorintothe
MagSafepowerport.AstheMagSafeconnectorgetsclosetotheport,you’llfeela
magneticpulldrawingitin.

backuporotherdisk:
ÂTo do a basic setup,select“Don’ttransfernow”andclickContinue.Followthe
remainingpromptstoselectyourwiredorwirelessnetwork,setupanaccount,
andexitSetupAssistant.
ÂTo do a setup with migration,select“FromanotherMacorPC”andclickContinue.
FollowtheonscreeninstructionstoselecttheMacorPCyouwanttomigratefrom.
YourMacorPCmustbeonthesamewiredorwirelessnetwork.Followtheonscreen
instructionsformigrating.
ÂTo transfer information from a Time Machine backup or another disk,select“FromaTime
Machinebackuporotherdisk”andclickContinue.Selectthebackuportheotherdisk
thatyouwanttomigratefrom.Followtheonscreeninstructions.
Ifyoudon’tintendtokeeporuseyourothercomputer,it’sbesttodeauthorizeitfrom
playingmusic,videos,oraudiobooksthatyou’vepurchasedfromtheiTunesStore.
Deauthorizingacomputerpreventsanysongs,videos,oraudiobooksyou’vepurchased
frombeingplayedbysomeoneelse,andfreesupanotherauthorizationforuse.For

To put your MacBook Pro to sleep, do one of the following:

ÂChooseApple()>SystemPreferences,clickEnergySaver,andsetasleeptimer.

yourMacBookPro.Movingyourcomputerwhilethediskisspinningcandamagethe

Onrareoccasions,anapplicationmight“freeze”onthescreen.MacOSXprovidesaway
toquitafrozenapplicationwithoutrestartingyourcomputer.
To force an application to quit:
1 PressCommand(x)-Option-EscorchooseApple()>ForceQuitfromthemenubar.
TheForceQuitApplicationsdialogappearswiththeapplicationselected.
2 ClickForceQuit.
Theapplicationquits,leavingallotherapplicationsopen.

ÂWaitafewseconds.Ifthecomputerdoesn’tsoonstartup,shutitdownbypressing
