SQUARE PROTECTIVE ENCLOSURES FOR RECESSED INSTALLATION OF 4" AND 8" LOUDSPEAKERS Series: (T)191, 193, (T)198, U(T)198, Model 199-8 FEATURES • Versatile Enclosures Mount Over 20 Atlas Sound Grilles • Available in Various Depths to Meet Performance Requirements • Choice of Recessed Models With/Without Torsion Spring Receptacles • Choice of UL Listed and Plenum Rated Models Choose from various square enclosure models to fulfill different installation and application requirements. Selection includes protective enclosures for recessed installation of standard and UL Listed 4" (102mm) and 8" (203mm) loudspeakers. Models are offered in various depths and for torsion and screw-mount application of grilles. Select models are also offered in high-performance, extra-depth versions (8" deep) with acoustic fiberglass. (Refer to SL3-1401 “Enclosures for Extended 8" Loudspeaker Performance”) THREE APPLICATIONS GENERAL DESCRIPTION 191-78 Atlas Sound square protective enclosures are cost-effective assemblies that mount a wide variety of Atlas Sound grilles. All models are of welded CRS construction, finished in black enamel, and are undercoated to eliminate mechanical and acoustical resonances. Units are also furnished with four compound conduit knockouts. Refer to chart on back for dimensions and mounting information. ENCLOSURES FOR 8" DIA. LOUDSPEAKERS (T)191-78. Versatile enclosure features an adjustable mounting bracket (1⁄16" - 3⁄4") to provide installation flexibility in a variety of ceiling types and depths. The 191 Series is designed for 8" (203mm) dia. loudspeakers and is available with a depth of 4" and choice of standard screw-mount or torsion spring (T) baffle mounting configurations. Series includes patch-jute lining and black enamel finish. Extra-depth, 8" deep version is also available with acoustic fiberglass. Refer to SL3-1401 for details. 193-8/193-8-6. Economical enclosure accommodates 8" (203mm) dia. loudspeakers and standard screw-mount baffle installation. Models are offered in two standard depths (33⁄4" and 6"). Design includes slotted mounting holes to accept 180 Series support rails for efficient installation in suspended tile ceilings. Finished in black enamel. 193-8 199-8. Versatile enclosure for 8" (203mm) dia. loudspeakers is equipped with U-Clips in each corner to facilitate installation of a wide variety of round and square screw-mount grilles. Finished in black enamel. ENCLOSURES FOR 4" AND 8" DIAMETER STANDARD AND UL LISTED LOUDSPEAKERS 198-4 / 198-8 Series. Model Series 198-4 is designed for 4" (102mm) dia. loudspeakers and will accommodate standard screw-mount baffles. Series 198-8 is for 8" (203mm) dia. loudspeakers and is available with a depth of 33⁄4" and a choice of standard screwmount or torsion spring (T) baffle mounting configurations. Finish is black enamel. Extradepth, 8" deep enclosures are also available with acoustic fiberglass. Refer to SL3-1401 for details. 198-8 Models U198-4 and U(T)198-8 are UL listed for fire protective signaling application and are plenum rated under UL file S 1824. They are designed for use with Atlas Sound UL Listed (Standard 1480) fire-protective 4" signaling loudspeaker Series UDT and 8” loudspeaker Series UHT/UKT respectively. It shall contain four compound knockouts and be equipped (with, without) torsion spring receptacles. It shall be of welded CRS construction, have a black painted finish, and be undercoated to eliminate mechanical and acoustical resonances (191 Series is also patch-jute lined). Unit shall accommodate Atlas Sound baffle Model _____ and Atlas Sound (8", 4") loudspeaker Model _____. For applications requiring UL standard 1480 rating and/or UL file S 1824 plenum rating, protective enclosure shall be Atlas Sound Model _____ (U198-8, UT198-8, U198-4). Enclosure shall be matched with UL Listed loudspeaker Series UHT, UKT, or UDT and companion baffle Model______ (U161-8, UT161-8, U161-4) to maintain UL LIsting.
