Batteryprecautions
Eachmtu301Body‐packTransmitterispoweredby2AAbatteries:AA1.5Valkalinebatteries
(included)orrechargeableSANYObrandAANickelMetalHydride.
Whenusingrechargeablebatteries,alwaysuserechargeableAANiMHbatteries.
Rechargeablebatteriesmustbechargedbeforeinitialuseorafterprolongednon‐use.
Wheninsertingbatteriesintothemtu301,observecorrectpolarityasmarked.
Donotusealeakingbattery.Ifbatteryleakageoccurs,avoidcontactwithskin.Ifskincontact
occurs,immediatelywashtheaffectedskinareathoroughlywithsoapandwater.Ifbattery
leakagecomesintocontactwithyoureyes,immediatelyflushwithwaterandseekmedical
attention.
Donotexposethebatteriestofire.Donotheat,deform,solder,disassembleormodify.
Donotpeeloffordamagetheoutertubeofabattery.
Ifbatteriesbecomedamaged,disposeofproperly.

Themtu301Body‐packTransmitterisoptimizedtoworkwithanumberofAudio‐Technicalavalierand
headwornmicrophonespre‐terminatedwithacompatibleinputconnector;thesewirelessmicrophone
productnumbersendwiththedesignation“cW”.Thecableconnectorlatchesautomaticallywhen
insertedintothemicrophoneinputjack.Tounlatchandremovetheconnector,pulluponthe
connector’sknurledmetalcollar.

Theunitprovidesbiasvoltageforelectretcondensermicrophonesandfeatures9‐hourbatterylife.It
alsooffersanon/offswitch,amuteswitch,andLEDsindicatingpower/muteandlinkstatusaswellas
low‐batterywarning.Eachmtu301operatesusing2AAbatteries.StandardalkalineorNiMH
rechargeablebatteriescanbeused.WithuseofanAudio‐Technica[needmodelnumber]Charger
availableseparately,NiMHrechargeablebatteriesrechargewithintheunit.Theywillnotovercharge.
Tooperatetheunit:
1. Installbatteries
Ifyouareusingalkalinebatteries:
a. Insert2freshAA1.5Valkalinebatteriesinthemtu301XLRBody‐pack
Transmitter.(SeeBatterySelection&BatteryInstallation,page6).
Ifyouareusingrechargeablebatteries:
a. Turnthemtu301off;theunitmustbeoffwhenbatteriesarebeingcharged.(See
PowerOn/Off,page__).
b. InserttwoNickelMetalHydride(NiMH)AArechargeablebatteriesinthemtu301XLR
Body‐packTransmitter.(SeeBatterySelection&BatteryInstallation,page__).
c. PlugtheDCcablefromthe(notincluded‐availableseparately)[needmodelnumber]
Chargerintothechargingportonthesideofthemtu301unit;plugtheChargerintoa
standardwalloutlet
d. Confirmthatthemtu301yellowChargingLED(nexttothechargingport)is
illuminated;thiswillextinguishwhenchargingiscomplete.Acompletechargecan
takeuptosixhours.
e. DisconnecttheChargerwhenthechargeiscomplete.
Note:IftheredChargeErrorLED(nexttothechargingport)isilluminated,thisindicates
achargingsystemerror.Causesinclude:non‐NiMHbatteries;failedbatteries;
incorrectlyinstalledbatteries;briefinterruptioninpower.Becertainyouareusing
properlyinstalledNiMHbatteriesandreconnecttobeginthechargingcycleagain.
2. Selectauniquechanneladdressinthebatterycompartmentofeachmtu301Body‐pack
Transmitter.(1‐7forthefirstaci707audiocontrolinterfaceunitused;8‐14forthesecond

3. Connectyourmicrophonetotheaudioinputjackonthetopofthemtu301Body‐pack
Transmitter.(UseanyAudio‐Technicalavalierorheadwornwirelessmicrophonewhoseproduct
numberendswitha“cW”.)
4. Turnonthepowerswitchonthetopofeachmtu301.ThePowerLEDonthetopofthemtu301
willglowblue.(SeePowerOn/Off,page_.)
5. Confirmlinkstatus.Ifthemtu301Body‐packTransmitterisproperlylinked,theUWBLinkLEDin
thebatterycompartmentwillglowblue,andthetopgreenlightonthecorrespondingaci707
channelwilllight.

6. Confirmmute/liveaudiostatus.Whentheaudioison,theLiveAudioLEDonthetopofthe
mtu301glowsgreen.Tochangemutestatus,depressthebody‐packtransmitter’spush‐button
switch.Whentheaudioismuted,theMuteLEDglowsred.(SeeAudio/MuteLED,page_.)
7. Confirmbatterystatus.Lowbatteryisindicatedbyblinkingbluepowerlight(atthetopofthe
mtu301).(SeeLowBatteryWarning,page_.)
8. Withtheaci707onandconnectedasdesired,thedrm141connected,andthemtu301Body‐
packTransmitteron,speakintothemicrophoneandverifyaudiooperation.Settheinputlevels
onyourconnectedequipmentasneeded.Youarenowsettousethesystem.
9. Turnthetransmitteroffwhennotinuse.Removethebatteriesifthetransmitterisnottobe
usedforalongperiodoftime.

1.BatterySelectionandInstallation
Themtu301Body‐packTransmitteroperatesontwoAAbatteries(standardalkalineorNiMH
rechargeable).Pleasemakecertainthatyourbatteriesarefreshorfullycharged.TwoAA1.5Valkaline
batteriesareincludedwiththemtu301.
a. Openthebatterydoorbyslidingthelatchtowardthetopoftheunit.
b. InserttwofreshorfullychargedAAbatteriesintothebatterycompartment,being
carefultoobservecorrectpolarityasmarkedonthebatteryholder.
c. Closethebatterydoorafterstep2iscomplete.
2.ChannelAddressSelection
Channeladdressselectionisviaarotaryswitchinsidethebatterycompartment.Theswitchisnumbered
forchanneladdresses1through14;thesechanneladdressescorrespondtotheaudiooutputsonthe
aci707unit.Useasmallflat‐bladescrewdrivertoselectadifferentchanneladdressforeachtransmitter
(youcannothavetwotransmittersonthesamechanneladdress).TheAudioControlInterface(aci707)
comesfromthefactorysetforchanneladdresses1through7.Ifyouwishtouseitforchanneladdresses
8through14,changetheDIPswitchonthebackpaneloftheaci707asdescribedintheSpectraPulse®
OwnersManual.
3.MicGainSwitch
Adjustaudiogainwiththis3‐positiongainswitchinsidethebatterycompartment,providedfor
situationsthatdemandextrasensitivepickup.Beginwiththeswitchinthe0dBsetting;adjustto+6dB
or+12dBasneeded.
4.AudioInputJack
Themtu301Body‐packTransmitterisequippedwithanaudioinputjackforconnectiontoanyAudio‐
Technicalavalierandheadwornmicrophonepre‐terminatedwithacompatibleinputconnector;these
wirelessmicrophoneproductnumbersendwiththedesignation“cW”.

Atoggleswitchonthetopofeachbody‐packtransmitterturnstheunitonandoff.Theunitmustbeoff
whenbatteriesarebeingcharged.
6.PowerLEDandLow‐batteryWarning
ThePowerLEDonthetopofthebody‐packtransmitterglowsbluetoindicatethepowerison.When
batteryperformanceislow,thePowerLEDwillblinkasawarning.Whenthesystemislinked,abottom
orangeLEDonthecorrespondingaci707channelwillilluminatetoprovideadditionalindicationoflow‐
batterystatus.
7.Audio/MuteLEDs
Whenabody‐packtransmitter’saudioison,theLiveAudioLEDonthetopofthemtu301glowsgreen.
Whentheaudioismuted,theMuteLEDglowsred.Aredlightonthecorrespondingaci707channelalso
indicateswhenaudioismuted.
8.UWBLinkLED
TheUWBLinkLEDinsidethebatterycompartmentglowsbluetoindicatethemtu301isproperlylinked
tothesystem.(Thetopgreenlightonthecorrespondingaci707channelalsolights.)
9.Push‐buttonSwitch
Apush‐buttonswitchonthetopofthebody‐packtransmitteroperatesasamute(presson/off)switch
oracontrolswitch;tochangemutestatus,depressthebutton.Choosethefunctionofthebutton(Push

10.ChargingPort
