(Bothvehicles must be equipped with an AS-1203/04.The remote transmitter of the primary vehiclecan control the starter disable system, thedoor locks and the remote car starteroperation of the second vehicle. The remote transmitter of the second vehiclecan also operate the primary vehicleTACH ADJUSTMENTSAutostart systems have two methods of finetuning the tach signal that is generated fromthe vehicle, the first method is manual tachsearch and setting, and the second isautomatic tach search and setting. Eithermethod can be used, however an automaticsearch is recommended. Tach adjustmentprocedures should be done every time anew unit is installed. This is because thetach signal from some ignition systems cansometimes be too high or too low, thuscausing failed starts under differenttemperatures. The procedures for tach adjustment are asfollows:1. Hold hood switch down for 6 seconds2. Release pinswitch (parking lights shouldcome on)3. With parking lights on, immediately pushand release pinswitch again.4. Parking lights will stay on for up to 20seconds (if not repeat from step 1)5. With lights on press Channel 3 (Trunk)of remote transmitter at the same time.(lights will flash 1 to 7 times)6. Start the vehicle using the key.7. If lights stay on, then you have selectedan incorrect tach wire. (relocate tachwire and start from step 1) If lights gooff then proceed to the next step.8. Allow vehicle to reach regular engineidle speed, then press and releasebrakes. (parking lights will flashappropriate setting, from 1 to 7 flashes)9. Press Channel 3 (Trunk) of remotetransmitter, to save setting. (Parkinglights will flash one long flash)NOTE: A manual adjustment should onlybe done if the auto setting is notcompleting the crank cycle properly incold weather.MANUAL TACH SEARCH ANDSETTING1. Hold hood switch down for 6 seconds2. Release pinswitch (parking lights shouldcome on)3. With parking lights on, immediately pushand release pinswitch again.4. Parking lights will stay on for 20 sec. (ifnot repeat from step 1)5. Press Channel 3 (Trunk) of remotetransmitter at the same time (lights willflash 1 to 7 times)6. Now you can increase or decrease thetach setting, depending on your needs.7. Button 1 will decrease the setting, andbutton 2 will increase the setting.8. After proper setting has been reached, push Channel 3 (Trunk) to save setting.(parking lights should flash once long)
4CUSTOM PROGRAMMING OPTIONSAutostart systems are equipped with 2 customprogramming menus that allow the user tocustom fit the system according to theinstallation requirements. These options are designed to help makeinterfacing with all vehicles possible. To get into custom programming mode youmust do the following:1. Hold pinswitch down for 6 sec.2. Release pinswitch (parking lights will comeon)3. Immediately push and release pinswitchonce again. (parking lights will stay on for20 sec.)4. Press and hold brakes, and press 1 or 2on remote transmitter. (Button 1 formode one, and Button 2 for mode two)(lights will flash once for mode 1 and twicefor mode 2)After you have entered into one of the twoprogramming menus you can release thebrake pedal. The unit will stay in programmingmode until the hood pinswitch is pressed orthe valet switch has been turned off. (so takeyour time to make the proper selection)The menu will automatically start you atfunction one, once you choose from one of thethree Options, you will automatically jump tothe next function. To select one of the three options press theappropriate transmitter button. (see below)1. Button 1 = Option 12. Button 2 = Option 23. Button 1 & 2 = Option 3Once an option has been selected the parkinglights will flash 1,2 or 3 times. (Depending onoption selected)MODE 1*INDICATES DEFAULT SETTINGFUNCTION 1OPTION 1* Ignition Lock ONOPTION 2 Ignition Lock OFFOPTION 3 Ignition Lock ON and locks in TOGGLE MODE**DOOR LOCK TOGGLE MODEAutostart has a built-in starter kill feature andeven if the starter kill is not installed, the logicfor it still dominates the operation of thesystem. What this means is that the starter killwill arm automatically 45 seconds after thevehicle’s ignition is turned “OFF”. Thevehicle’s starter wire is then interrupted untilthe starter kill is disarmed by pressing button1 (unlock) on the remote. If the doors werenot locked within the initial 45 seconds of theignition being turned “OFF” the first press ofbutton 1 will disarm the starter kill, unlockingthe already unlocked doors before they canbe locked again, arming the starter kill.Enabling Toggle Mode will circumvent thislogic and allow the doors to lock on the firstpress of the button regardless of how muchtime has elapsed since the ignition wasturned “OFF”. This means that when thedoor lock will always perform the opposite ofthe last remote door lock action.FUNCTION 2OPTION 1* Constant “GROUNDOUT”OPTION 2 Pulsed “GROUNDOUT”(1sec)OPTION 3 Constant “GROUNDOUT”with disarm pulse on defrostline (pin # 15)FUNCTION 3OPTION 1* .75 second door lock /unlock pulses.OPTION 2 4 second door lock / unlockpulses.OPTION 3 One 1 second lock pulseand two ¼ second unlockpulses.FUNCTION 4OPTION 1* Trunk release on channel 3(will not receive signal whileignition is “ON”)OPTION 2 Garage door transmittercontrol (will receive signalwith Ignition “ON”)OPTION 3 Channel 3 used foractivation / deactivation ofcold weather mode.FUNCTION 5OPTION 1* External trigger disabledOPTION 2 External trigger enabledOPTION 3 Child proof Operation(Transmitter button must bepressed for 4 seconds)MODE 2* INDICATES DEFAULT SETTINGFUNCTION 1OPTION 1 5 minute run timeOPTION 2* 15 minute run timeOPTION 3 25 minute run time

Although Vacuum moderequires an optional normally closed vacuumswitch. In order for the system to work in vacuummode you must first set the tach signal to asetting of 8 flashes. (see manual tachadjustment)The vacuum switch has two contacts, onecontact must connect to the tach input of themodule, and the other contact must beconnected to +12v.TACH WATCH LOCKOUTTach Watch lockout is a safety feature builtinto the remote starter to protect the vehicle’sstarter motor. If, during remote start, thevehicle’s engine ever cranks the entireprogrammed crank time without detecting anytach pulses during the first crank cycle, theunit will go into tach watch lockout. Thediagnostics for this is 3 quick parking lightflashes when trying to remote start the vehicle. If your module is in Tach Watch Lockout it isindicating that a problem exists with the tachsignal it is receiving. Verify that the tach wirefrom the remote starter is properly connectedto a good tach signal in the vehicle. To remove the unit from Tach Watch Lockoutyou must do the following:1. Close the hood2. Disable starter kill (if installed)3. Start the engine using the key.4. Let it run for at least 25 seconds, then shutit off.5. The module should now be out of TachWatch Lockout. If module is still in Tach Watch Lockoutmove tach wire to a better tach source andperform an Automatic Tach Setting. Thenrepeat steps 1 to 5.IDLE MODEWhen programmed this option allows theuser to engage the remote starter to takeover the vehicle while it is already running. This option will keep the vehicle running forthe programmed run time or until shut downby remote control. To activate Idle Mode you must do thefollowing:1. Select Mode 2, Function 4, Option 1 forgasoline engines.2. With vehicle running press either buttonon the transmitter until the parking lightscome on.3. Remove the key and exit the vehicle.4. Vehicle will stay running for the entireprogrammed run time.DIESEL ENGINESAll systems are equipped with a dedicated“GLOW PLUG” input (pin #4).This input must be wired to the “Wait toStart” light in the vehicle and must receive12 volts for as long as the light is on. Whenthis input is used a protection diode must beinstalled on the brake input.Note: On some diesel vehicles the wait tostart light is a negative when ON, for thistype of system a relay must be used toconvert the signal to a positive.RESETING THE MODULEThe systems are equipped with a resetfunction that allows the installer to erase alltransmitter codes and return all programmedoptions to factory default. To reset the module:1. Turn the valet switch “off”.2. Temporarily ground to pin # 12 (ExternalTrigger).3. Turn the Ignition “ON”.4. Raise hood.5. Press and hold brake pedal.6. Turn valet switch “on”7. Lights should flash 8 times quickly.8. Press transmitter button within 5seconds of parking light flashes toprogram transmitter.* See Custom Programming options fordefault settings.
