Chapter 2 Installation and Operation
The Car Kit operates:
In half-duplex mode, when the external microphone is not used.
In full-duplex mode, when the external microphone is used.
Both modes of communication are included in the system.
The internal microphone is not fully separated from the loudspeaker thus allows only half-duplex
calls. This means that only one party can speak at a time.
The external microphone must be correctly connected to the control unit to allow full-duplex
calls. The distance between the microphone and the loudspeaker must be sufficient in order to
cancel echoes (Approximately 12inches apart). Both callers can now speak at the same time.
Disconnecting the external microphone returns the Car Kit to half-duplex mode.
NOTE: Speak at a normal voice as you would with someone sitting next to you. Do
not raise your voice as this will undermine the performance of the Car Kit.
2.1 Microphone
The microphone should be turned towards the driver, and should ideally be installed between the
sun-visor and the inside mirror. It can also be installed at other central positions. Avoid installing
the Car Kit near the door, and check that no ventilation or air conditioning outlets blow directly
into the microphone.
2.2 Cigar-lighter extension cord
The Car Kit works in all vehicles (except 24V trucks). In the rare event that the cigar-lighter is
inconveniently located; an extension cord can be used to allow the driver better reach to the Car
Kit.
2.3 Identifying the software version
To find out the software version of the Car Kit, check which devices have been discovered
during the pairing. On the display of your phone, you will see a list of devices found. For
example, BC1000 V3.17 indicates that the software version of your Car Kit is v3.17.
