INTRODUCTIONCongratulations on your purchase of the ONELINK WirelessWater Sensor. Your Water Sensor can monitor the presenceof water in areas such as a sump pump, basement/cellar,beach house, under sinks, and water pipes. This Quick StartGuide describes how to set up and troubleshoot your WaterSensor. For a full system set-up manual, please visit ourwebsite: www.onelinkhome.comCONTROLLING YOUR SENSORUsing your computer and the Wireless System Gateway, youlocally manage your home environment with the ONELINKWireless software. When configured, the system can notifyyou of any new events by sending an e-mail when your Water Sensor detectsan event. An event is defined as a change from a wet or dry state where thetip of the water sensor probe is located. How It WorksThe Water Sensor detects the presence orabsence of water and notifies you when a waterleak or water deficit is detected. When triggered,it sends a notification to your Wireless Gateway. The probe is immersible enabling you to monitorvarious types of environments. The Wireless System Gateway must be installedbefore installing your Water Sensor. Consult theONELINK System Setup manual for details.INSTALLATION OVERVIEWYour package contains the following:Installing your sensor is a simple process.1. Locate the antenna and screw it into the top-left corner of the sensor untilit is secure. Sharp objects should be stored out of reach of children toprevent injury.2. Insert the batteries. On the top of the sensor, slide open the door andinsert two AAA alkaline batteries. The inside of the sensor indicates thepolarity (+ and -) of the batteries. Close the door after inserting batteries. The sensor does not support rechargeable NiCad or NiMH batteries. However, the sensor does employ built-in power saving functionality.3. Mount the sensor.Installing Your Wireless Water SensorYour sensor can either be mounted on a wall or just sit on a horizontal surface.Wall Mount Your Wireless Water SensorWarning: When mounting near a window, drilling too close to the glasscould break the glass and possibly cause it to shatter. The windowextends deeper into the frame than can be seen; therefore, ensure your screw is beyond the glass before drilling. Thoroughly clean and dry the surface.1. Mount the sensor securely using the screws in thehardware kit. Using the holes on the drilling templatefound later in this guide, mark the position of theholes to be drilled. For drywall or other compositesurfaces use a 7/32” drill bit. Drill a hole for each ofthe mounting screws and insert a plastic wall anchorinto each hole. For other solid surfaces, use a 1/16” drill bit. Drill a pilot hole for each of the mounting screws.2. Ensure that fresh batteries have been installed.3. Mount the sensor onto the screws and slide down to lock into place.Attaching the Water ProbeThe probe, which attaches to the Water Sensor, is immersible and designedto monitor the presence of water.1. Insert the plug into the bottom of the sensor.2. Place the Water Probe in the location youwish to monitor.Wall Mount Drilling TemplateMounting tools: Screwdriver, electric drill or awl. On hard surfaces, it is recommended that you pre-drill 1/2-inch deep pilot holes with a drill bitslightly smaller than the bracket mounting screws before securing the bracketto the surface. When mounting a sensor on soft surfaces like sheetrock, usean awl to punch holes in the material slightly smaller than the plastic anchorsincluded in the hardware mounting kit.The illustration is drawn to a one-to-one scale, which means that it provides the exact dimensions required to mount the unit.Feature Locator1.6 mm (1/16 inch)maximumTopDrill holes inthese positions2.0 in1QUICK START GUIDEWater SensorM08-0238-002 07/12AAAAAA Wireless Water Sensor Antenna External WaterProbe Hardware Mounting Kit Batteries Installation HintsPlease consider the following points when mounting the sensor:• The ONELINK Wireless Water Sensor is for indoor use only.• Typically, the sensor’s range is 65-200 feet from the Wireless Gateway, depending on the number of obstacles. These can include metal framing, thick walls, and other wireless devices operating at 915 MHz. It is recommended that different positions be tried for optimal results.Features and Specifications• Operates on 2-AAA Alkaline batteries• LED indicator when sensor is triggeredFrequency range: 915 MHzTypical open air range (line of sight): 200 ft (60 m)Typical Range Indoors: 65 feet (20 m)Sensor size: 1.613” x .615” x 3.441” (not including probe)Operational temperature:14˚ to 131˚ F with all components operating within manufacturer thermal limitsBattery compartment
TROUBLESHOOTINGProblemLED does not light upSolution• Ensure the batteries are properly inserted with the correct polarity.• Ensure you are using new AAA batteries.ProblemWireless System Gateway does not recognize the sensor during setupSolution• Ensure sensor is powered. Position the sensor in closer proximity to your Wireless Gateway and try again. Ensure there are no other wirelessdevices interfering with the sensor. The sensor transmits on the 915 MHzfrequency.ProblemEvents are not triggeredSolution• Is the sensor registered with your Wireless Gateway?• Ensure that you have the proper settings configured for the sensor.ProblemSensor continually sends an eventSolution• Ensure that you have the proper settings configured for the sensor. For example, you have armed the sensor.• The sensor can be configured so that it can send an event when the contacts are closed or when they are opened.FAQHow far away can the sensor be placed from my Wireless SystemGateway?Typically 65 feet (20 meters). Can I place the sensor in a different room than my Wireless SystemGateway?Yes, the sensor and Wireless System Gateway use radio frequencies tocommunicate with each other. These frequencies can go through objectslike walls, ceilings and floors. How long will the battery last? The battery is expected to last up to 12 months. This depends on actual useand how often the sensor is triggered. Do not use rechargeable batteries. The light on the sensor is not on?This indicates that the sensor has gone into hibernation mode. It wakes upwhen the sensor is triggered.REGULATORY INFORMATIONFCC Notices:NOTE: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules.
