The single pit designoffers a factory prewired ORION module to the Recordall TransmitterRegister (RTR®).Each Pit ORION Module can be identified using the eight-digit uniqueidentification number located on a tag attached to the wire harness. Ona separate tag next to the module identification number is a factoryprogrammed multiplier. The multiplier calculates the reading reso-lution for each module and is not part of the module identifica-tion number. Each RTR is clearly identified on the face of the registerwith an assembly number, unit of measure, and meter model number(see figure 1).Figure 1 Identification - Recordall Transmitter RegisterORION®, Recordall® and RTR® are registered trademarks of Badger Meter, Inc.TORX® is a registered trademark of Camcar, Division of Textron, Inc.1.75"DIAMETERHOLEFigure 2 Identification - Pit ORION ModulePIT LIDPIT ORIONBLACKHOUSING.493.33 RTR REGISTERINSTALLATIONUNPACKINGCarefully remove the prewired Pit ORION Module and RTR(s) fromthe shipping carton and inspect the assembly for any damage. Retainthe contents of the installation kit for use in securing the Pit ORIONModule to the pit lid cover.LOCATIONTo ensure proper operation of the ORION on-site meter readingsystem, the Pit ORION Module should be mounted through a predrilledhole in the pit lid. Minimum hole diameter required is 1 3/4". The PitORION Module contains RF electronic circuitry that is totally encap-sulated to enhance reliable performance in most locations, under mostconditions.PIT ORION INSTALLATIONThe Pit ORION Module (see Figure 2) is shipped prewired to the RTRfor single pit configurations. Due to the factory prewired shipment, there is no splicing required and only the mounting of the register withtightening of the Torx seal screw is necessary. Excess wire shouldbe coiled up inside the pit and cable tied to avoid any damage.RTR INSTALLATIONInstall the RTR on the water meter and secure it using either the Torxscrew or standard seal screw provided.TESTINGOnce the Pit ORION Module is secured through the pit lid and the RTRhas been mounted on the water meter, the ORION system is readyfor operation. No specific testing is required at the meter locationregarding proper connections. Interrogation of each module willensure that proper coordination of meters, modules, and account haveoccurred. The ORION Reading System or other equivalent readingdevice should be used for interrogation of the installed ORIONmodules.LICENSE REQUIREMENTSThis device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules.
