Reference Information146Safety InformationTraffic SafetyDo not use a hand-held mobile phone while driving a vehicle. If using ahand-held phone, park the vehicle before conversing. Always secure thephone in its holder, do not place the phone on the passenger seat orwhere it can break loose in a collision or sudden stop. The use of an alert device to operate a vehicle’s lights or horn on publicroads is not permitted.Remember, road safety always comes first!145Reference InformationOperating EnvironmentRemember to follow any special regulations in force in any area andalways switch off your phone whenever it is forbidden to use it, orwhen it may cause interference of danger. When connecting the phone or any accessory to another device, readits user’s guide for detailed safety instructions. Do not connectincompatible products. As with other mobile radio transmitting equipment, users are advisedthat for the satisfactory operation of the equipment and for the safetyof personnel, it is recommended that the equipment should only beused in the normal operating position (held to your ear with theantenna pointing over your shoulder).●Battery charging times depend on the remaining battery charge andthe type of battery and charger used. The battery can be charged anddischarged hundreds of times, but it will gradually wear out. Whenthe operation time (talk time and standby time) is noticeably shorterthan normal, it is time to buy a new battery.●If left unused, a fully charged battery will discharge itself over time.●Use only approved batteries and recharge your battery only withapproved chargers. When a charger is not in use, disconnect it fromthe power source. Do not leave the battery connected to a chargerfor more than a week, since overcharging may shorten its life.●Extreme temperatures will affect the charging capacity of yourbattery: it may require cooling or warming first.●Do not leave the battery in hot or cold places, such as in a car insummer or winter conditions, as you will reduce the capacity and life-time of the battery. Always try to keep the battery at roomtemperature. A phone with a hot or cold battery may temporarily notwork, even when the battery is fully charged. Li-ion batteries areparticularly affected by temperatures below 0 °C (32 °F).●Do not short-circuit the battery. Accidental short circuiting can occurwhen a metallic object (coin, clip or pen) causes a direct connectionbetween the + and - terminals of the battery (metal strips on theback of the battery), for example when you carry a spare battery in apocket or bag. Short-circuiting the terminals may damage the batteryor the object causing the short-circuit.●Dispose of used batteries in accordance with local regulations. Always recycle. Do not dispose of batteries in a fire.

Reference Information152Before a phone model is available for sale to the public, it must be tested and certified to the FCC that it does not exceed thelimit established by the government-adopted requirement for safeexposure. The tests are performed in positions and locations (e.g., at the ear and worn on the body) as required by the FCC for each model. (Body-worn measurements differ among phone models, depending upon available accessories and FCC requirements). Whilethere may be differences between the SAR levels of various phones andat various positions, they all meet the government requirement. For body worn operation, to maintain compliance with FCC RFexposure guidelines, use only approved accessories. When carrying thephone while it is on, use the specific belt-clip that has been tested forcompliance.Use of non-approved accessories may violate FCC RF exposureguidelines and should be avoided. For additional information concerning exposure to radio frequencysignals, see the following websites:Federal Communications Commission(FCC) RF Safety program (select “Information on Human Exposure to RF Fieldsfrom Cellular and PCS Radio Transmitters”) :http://www.fcc.gov/oet/rfsafetyWorld Health Organization(WHO) International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (selectQs & As) : http://www.who.int/emfUnited Kingdom, National Radiological Protection Board :http://www.nrpb.org.ukCellular Telecommunications Industry Association (CTIA) :http://www.wow-com.comU.S.Food and Drug Administration(FDA) Center for Devices and RadiologicalHealth:http://www.fda.gov/cdrh/consumer/151Reference InformationRadio Frequency (RF) SignalsYour mobile phone is a radio transmitter and receiver. The tests are performed in positions and locations (e.g., at the ear and worn on the body) as required by the FCC for each model. The highest SAR value for this model phone when tested for use at the ear is 0.886 W/Kg and when worn on the body , as described in this user guide, is 0.313 W/Kg . (Body-worn measurements differ among phone models, depending upon available accessories and FCC requirements). While there may be differences between the SAR levels of various phones and at various positions, they all meet the government requirement for safe exposure. The FCC has granted an Equipment Authorization for this model phone with all reported SAR levels evaluated as in compliance with the FCC RF exposure guidelines. SAR information on this model phone is on file with the FCC and can be found under the Display Grant section of http://www.fcc.gov/ oet/fccid after searching on FCC ID: SYSX101. Additional information on Specific Absorption Rates (SAR) can be found on the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Asso-ciation (CTIA) web-site at http://www.wow-com.com. * In the United States and Canada, the SAR limit for mobile phones used by the public is 1.6 watts/kg (W/kg) averaged over one gram of tissue. The standard incorporates a sub-stantial margin of safety to give additional protection for the public and to account for any variations in measurements.
