the most from your phone.
Before you make your first call you will need to set up your phone.

1. Getting started
WARNING
Do not place your phone in the bathroom or other humid
areas.
Location
When choosing a location for your new phone, here are
some important guidelines you should consider:
• Avoid sources of noise and heat, such as motors,
fluorescent lighting, microwave ovens, heating
appliances and direct sunlight.
• Avoid areas of excessive dust, moisture, and low
temperature.
• Avoid other cordless telephones or personal computers.
• Never install telephone wiring during a lightning storm.
• Never install telephone jacks in wet locations unless the
jack is specifically designed for wet locations.
• Never touch non-insulated telephone wires or terminals
unless the telephone line has been disconnected at the
network interface.
• Use caution when installing or modifying telephone lines.
HANDSET RANGE
Optimal range is reached when there are no other electrical
appliances working within the range area. Any obstruction
between the base and handset will also reduce the range
significantly.
SIGNAL STRENGTH
When out of range of the base, the screen shows
SEARCHING.... If you are on a call, the line will disconnect.
Move back within in range of the base. The handset will
automatically re-connect to the base.
Setting up
IMPORTANT
The base must be plugged into an electrical outlet at all
times. Do not connect the telephone line cord into a power
outlet until the handset is fully charged. Only use adapter
and telephone line cord supplied with the product.
WHICH POWER ADAPTER
The power adapter with the smaller pin is for the base unit
and the power adapter with the larger pin is for the charger
unit (only for multi-handset packs).

1. Attach the ear hook to the headset body as indicated.
2. Put the installed wireless headset on the base cradle for
charging before using.
1. Plug the power adapter with the crystal pin plug and the
telephone line cord into the base. The power adapter
with the round pin is for the charger (only in multihandset packs).
2. Plug the other end of the power adapter and the
telephone line cord into a power outlet.
3. Use only the provided power adapter.

3. Put the handset on the base to charge for at least 24
hours. Once charged, the (battery icon) will indicate
that the handset is fully charged.
IMPORTANT
Use only the rechargeable battery pack provided with the
product.
1.4
Setting the display language
1. Press MENU and then VOL+ or REDIAL/VOL- to select
SETUP HS.
2. Repeat to select LANGUAGE.
3. Repeat to select the desired language.
1. Slide off the battery compartment cover to remove it.
Place the supplied rechargeable battery pack in the
battery compartment, with the battery connector
plugged in, as shown.
2. Slide the battery compartment cover back on.
4. Press MENU to save.

1. Press MENU to select DATE & TIME . If you're a subscriber
to your network's Caller ID service, the date and time is
automatically set when a call is received.
2. Repeat to edit the year and date.
3. Press VOL+ or REDIAL/VOL- to move between the
input fields YEAR and DATE.
4. Press MENU and then edit the time in 12hr format.
Press VOL+ or REDIAL/VOL- to toggle AM/PM settings.

Handset LCD display
Display icons
On when the line is in use.
Flashes when there is an incoming call.
On when the speakerphone is turned on.
On when the answering machine is turned on.
Flashes when a new message is received.
Indicates that a new call has been received.
Off after all new calls have been reviewed.
Indicates that the ringer volume is off.
If a voice mail service is being used, this icon
indicates that there is a new voice mail message. The
icon is off after all new voice mails have been
reviewed.
On when a call is muted.

a) In idle mode: Press to go off-hook. Press and hold to
power the wireless headset on or off.
b) During ringing/during a call/during registration
process: Press and hold to turn the headset off.

VOLUME UP/FLASH
a) During a call: Press to increase the earpiece volume.
Press and hold to insert a flash.
b) During ringing: Press to increase the ringer volume.
VOLUME DOWN
a) During a call: Press to decrease the earpiece volume.
b) During ringing: Press to decrease the ringer volume.
NOTE
If the wireless headset is not registered, press and hold
VOL+/FLASH together with VOL- to initiate the registration
mode.
Wireless headset LED behaviors
Purple:
Steadily on: The wireless headset is unregistered.
Flashing: The wireless headset is registered but the base is
not available (searching or out of range).
Blue:
Steadily on: The battery is fully charged during the headset
on cradle.

Long flashing: The wireless headset is in idle and off the
cradle.
Double flashing: The wireless headset is off hook.
Continuously flashing: The wireless headset is ringing.
Continuous long beep will emit through the earpiece
concurrently.
Red:
Steadily on: When the wireless headset is charging on the
cradle.
Long flashing: Low battery indication during off the cradle.
Double beeps will emit concurrently.
Double flashing: Low battery indication during off hook.
Double beeps will emit concurrently.
Triple flashing: When powering on /off the wireless
headset. Three short beeps will emit through the earpiece
before powering on/off.
Red/Blue:
Toggling display: The wireless headset is in registration
mode. When the headset is registered successfully, the
headset will beep for around 3 seconds.

ANNOUNCE MODE
VOLUME-
a) Press to toggle the announce mode between ANNC &
RECORD and ANNOUNCE ONLY mode.
a) In idle, during the message playback or during call
screening: Decrease the loudspeaker volume by one
level (0 to 8).
VOLUME+
a) In Idle, during the message playback or during call
screening: Increase the loudspeaker volume by one
level (0 to 8).
Charging LED - Green
a) Steadily ON: When the handset is put into base cradle for
charging.
FIND
a) Press to find/page all registered handsets. Press the
button again, or any key on the handset, to turn off page
signal.
ANSWER ON/OFF
a) Press to turn on/off the answering machine.

In Use LED - Red
a) Steadily ON: During a call or when an extension phone
(another registered handset or wireless headset) or the
built-in answering machine is off hook.
b) Flashing at a rate similar to the incoming ring pattern:
During an incoming call.
c) Flash at a rate of 0.5s on and 0.5s off for 2 minutes:
During paging or registration.

a) In idle: Press and hold to delete all messages, if all the
messages in answering machine have been reviewed.
b) During message playback: Press to delete the current
message.
SKIP BACKWARD
a) During message playback: Press once to repeat the
current message from the beginning. Press twice to
playback the previous message.
10 PLAY/STOP
a) In message playback mode: Press to playback or stop
playing messages.
11 SKIP FORWARD
a) In message playback mode: Press to skip to play the
next message.

a) In Idle: Press to play the current announcement.

characters long. Entries are stored in alphabetical order.

TIPS
Instead of scrolling to browse the phonebook entries, press
the numeric key corresponding to the first letter of the entry
you wish to locate. For example, pressing 2 will show the
entries starting with A. Pressing 2 again will show the entries
starting with B, etc.

Caller ID
3.12.1
Calls List
If you have subscribed to Caller ID, and provided the identity
of the caller is not withheld, the number of the caller will be
displayed together with the date and time of the call (if
provided by the network).
NOTE
• If the telephone number is not available for incoming
calls, the handset will display UNAVAILABLE.
• If the incoming call is from a withheld telephone number,
the handset will display PRIVATE.
• Information about incoming calls will vary by country and
network operator. Some operators may charge a
subscription for their Caller ID service.
The calls list contains details of missed and received calls.
Details include the date and time of the call. Entries are
displayed in chronological order with the most recent call at
the top of the list.
Using the phone
NOTE
• When the calls list is full, a new call replaces the oldest
one in the list.
• The received and missed calls log holds details of up to
30 calls.
• If you receive more than one call from the same number,
only the most recent call is kept in the calls list. When
you have missed calls (incoming calls that you haven't
answered) the
icon will be displayed in the display
on all handsets registered to the base. If one handset is
used to view the calls log, the icon on the other handsets
remains on (for multi-pack use only).
3.12.2 Viewing the calls list
1. Press CID to enter the calls list.
2. Scroll VOL+ or REDIAL/VOL- through the calls list.
NOTE
• When reviewing an entry from the calls list, press #/
PAUSE/FORMAT repeatedly to display the number in a
different format.
Using the phone
For example, if a caller number is displayed as
888-331-3383, the various formats will be:

User can choose the desired number format for local and
long distance numbers before dialing or saving it into the
phonebook.
• The
icon is removed once the new call has been
viewed.

3. Press MENU to open a sub-menu or validate an option.
Press
/BACK to go back to the previous menu level or
cancel an action.
If you do not press any button on the handset for 30 seconds,
the display will automatically return to standby. It will also
return to standby when the handset is placed on the base or
charger.
3.14
Intercom
This feature is only available when there are at least two
registered handsets or a handset and a wireless headset. It
allows you to make internal calls, transfer external calls from
one handset to another handset or the wireless headset and
use the conference option.
3.14.1
Calling another handset or the wireless
headset
1. Press INT. All registered handsets and wireless headset
except the using handset will be displayed in the list.

2. Press VOL+ or REDIAL/VOL- to select the handset or
the wireless headset you want to call.
3. Press MENU to call the handset.
4. Press
/BACK to hang up.
NOTE
If the handset or the wireless headset is not within the valid
operation range, this function may not be available.
During intercom call, you will hear an alert tone if there is an
incoming external call. You need to press
/BACK to
hang up the intercom call before answering the incoming
external call.
3.14.2
Transferring a call to another handset or the
wireless headset
1. During an external call, press INT.
- Your caller is put on hold.
2. Press VOL+ or REDIAL/VOL- to select the handset or
the wireless headset you want to call.
3. Press MENU to call the handset or the wireless
headset.

4. When the other handset answers by pressing
FLASH or
/SPEAKER or the wireless headset
answers by pressing
, press
/BACK to transfer
the call. If the other handset or the wireless headset
does not answer, press INT to talk to your caller again.
NOTE
You are not allowed to use the wireless headset to initiate an
intercom call.
3.14.3 Three-party conference call
1. During an external call, press INT.
- Your caller is put on hold.
2. Press VOL+ or REDIAL/VOL- to select the handset or
the wireless headset you want to call.
3. Press MENU to call the handset or the wireless
headset.
4. When the other handset or the wireless headset
answers the intercom call, press INT on the calling
handset to set up the conference call.

5. Press
/BACK on any handset to hang up threeparty conference and leave the other handset or
wireless headset engaged with the caller or press
on the wireless headset to hang up and leave the other
handset engaged with the caller.
3.15
Setting the dial mode
The default dialing mode is suitable for your country and
network operator. It is unlikely that you should need to
change this setting unless advised to do so.
1. Press MENU and then VOL+ or REDIAL/VOL- to select
SETUP BS.
2. Press MENU to select DIAL MODE.
3. Press MENU and VOL+ or REDIAL/VOL- to select TONE
or PULSE.
4. Press MENU to save.
NOTE
If the pulse mode is selected, press TONE/* to switch from
pulse to tone dialing temporarily when dialing out. After the
call is ended, the dial mode will change back to pulse.

Setting the flash time
The default flash time is 600MS. It is unlikely that you should
need to change this setting unless advised to do so.
1. Press MENU and then VOL+ or REDIAL/VOL- to select
SETUP BS.
2. Press MENU and then VOL+ or REDIAL/VOL- to select
FLASH TIME.

3.18.1
Registering a handset
Up to 5 handsets or wireless headsets can be registered to
one base. The original handset is pre-registered to use.
Additional handsets must be registered to the base before
you can use them.
To register an additional handset,
1. Press MENU and then VOL+ or REDIAL/VOL- to select
SETUP HS.
2. Press MENU and then VOL+ or REDIAL/VOL- to select
REGISTRATION.
3. Press MENU and then VOL+ or REDIAL/VOL- to select
YES or NO.
4. Select YES and press MENU to enter the registration
procedure as below:
1. Press and hold FIND for 4 seconds on the base, and
then release.
2. Place the unregistered cordless handset on the base
or charger.

3. A confirmation tone is generated if registration is
successful. HANDSET X is displayed where X denotes
the number of handsets, and then the phone returns
to idle.
To register an originally unregistered handset, follow steps 1
through 3 above.
3.18.2 Registering a wireless headset
The wireless headset is pre-registered to use. The LED of
unregistered headset will be steadily in purple.
To register an additional wireless headset,
1. Press and hold VOL+/FLASH together with VOL -. The
LED on wireless headset will be toggling in red and blue.
2. Press and hold FIND for 4 seconds on the base, and
then release.
3. Place the unregistered wireless headset on the cradle.
4. A long beep tone is generated if the registration is
successful.
NOTE
If the LED of wireless headset flashes slowly in purple, it
means that the headset is registered but the base is not
available.

Resetting all settings

You are able to hear a caller leaving a message. You can
then choose to ignore the caller or pick up the call.
1. When the answering machine is recording, the cordless
handset displays SCREENING?.

earpiece, the handset displays CALL SCREENING.

Remote access allows you to operate your answering
machine and listen to your messages by calling your phone
from another phone.

To enter the remote access mode, dial your phone number
from another phone, when you hear the announcement,
press TONE/* on your another phone and then enter the 4digit remote security code (default code is 0000).
The correct sequence of the 4 security PIN digits needs to
be detected before entering remote access mode. Random
digits detected prior to the correct 4 digits sequence are
ignored, and the answering machine recording continues
until the complete PIN is detected. There is no system
prompt to enter the remote access code.

• If there is no base power, check the connections. Reset
the phone by unplugging then plugging it back into an
electrical outlet.
• If the handset batteries are empty, recharge the battery
pack for at least 24 hours.
• Move the handset closer to the base.
• Be sure to use only the provided telephone cords.
Poor audio quality
• If the base is too close to electrical appliances, reinforced
concrete walls, or metal door frames, move the base
from these areas.

No ring tone
• The ring tone may be deactivated.
• The volume may need to be increased.
If the handset disconnects from the base during a
phone call
• Check your subscription with your network operator.
• If you subscribe to high-speed internet service (Digital
Subscriber Line - DSL) through your telephone lines, you
must install a DSL filter between the telephone base and
the telephone wall jack. The filter will prevent noise and
caller ID problems caused by DSL interference. Please
contact your DSL service provider for more information
about DSL filters.
• Check that the power cord is connected properly into the
base.
• Check that the power adapter is connected properly into
the electrical outlet.
• Move the handset closer to the base. It may be out of
range.
• Reset the base by unplugging the unit's electrical power.
Wait for around 15 seconds and re-plug the power again.
Allow up to one minute for the handset to synchronize
with the registered base again.
A phonebook entry cannot be stored
Noise interference on your radio or television
Caller ID does not work
• The phonebook is full. Delete an entry to free memory.
No display
• Your base or charger may be too close. Move it as far
away as possible.
• Try recharging or replacing the rechargeable battery

The Ringer Equivalence Number (REN) is used to determine
how many devices you may connect to your telephone line
and still have them ring when you are called. The REN for
this product is encoded as the 6th and 7th characters
following the US: in the product identifier (e.g., if ## is 03, the
REN is 0.3). In most, but not all areas, the sum of all RENs
should be five (5.0) or less. For more information, please
contact your local telephone company.
This equipment may not be used with Party Lines. If you
have specially wired alarm dialing equipment connected to
your telephone line, ensure the connection of this equipment
does not disable your alarm equipment. If you have

your telephone company or a qualified installer.
If this equipment is malfunctioning, it must be unplugged
from the modular jack until the problem has been corrected.
Repairs to this telephone equipment can only be made by
