Thisappliancemustbeconnectedto a grounded
wiringsystem.If it shouldmalfunctionor break

troubleshooting instructions. Please read this
Guide thoroughly before assembling your
Deep Cleaner.
Payparticularattentionto the productdiagram,assembly
instructions,andpartnames.Locateand organizeall parts
beforeassembly.Familiarizeyourselfwith the partsand
wheretheygo. Followingthis User's6uidewill greatly
enhanceyourability to get the mostperformancefrom your
BISSELLQuickSteamerfor manyyears.

The only thing you will need to assembleyour cleaner is
a Phillipshead_ screwdriver.

BeforeYouClean
1. Planactivities to give carpettime to dry.
2. Removeeasily moved furniture (chairs, lamps,
coffee/cocktailtables, etc.) from room if needed.
3. Vacuumcarpet thoroughly.
4. Decidewhere to begin-- and end -- your job.
Cleanin 3' X 4' sections,startingin areasfarthest
from exit. Plan to leavea path open to empty
soiledwater and refill cleaner.
5. Carpetingwill dry in three to four hours,depending
on carpetstyleand air circulationin room.A floor
fan speedsdrying.
6. Replacefurnitureon damp carpetingby placing
waxedpaperunder legs until floor dries completely.
Fill the Tank
1. Removethe Clean/SolutionTank by lifting it
straight up,then away from the Lower Body.
2. Unscrewthe black cap at the bottom of the
Clean/SolutionTank.
3. Addone of the BISSELLAdvancedCleaningformu-
las for DeepCleaningmachinesto the formula fill
line on the Clean/Solutiontank. Fill the rest of the
tankwith hot (not boiling)tap water to the water
fill line. Replaceand tighten the black cap.
4. PlaceClean/SolutionTankon Lower Body.
5. RotateQuick ReleaseCordWrapTM to releasethe
PowerCord and plug into an outlet.
Pre-treat stubborn stains and highly soiled
carpet in hallways and other high-traffic areas.
1. UsingBISSELLToughStain pre-cleaner,generously
sprayevenlyoversoiledarea,do not overwetcarpet.
2. Wait 3 -5 minutesbefore deep cleaning.

1. With your foot, press the red PowerSwitch
[located in foot of unit] ON.
2. Withfoot, press the Detent Leveron right side of
Lower Body.
3. DepressSprayTriggerto spraycleaning solution.
Do notoverwet.
4. Tosuction u _ water,repeat motion over same
areawithout depressingTrigger.
5. RepeatSteps 3 and4 until no more dirt can
be removed.
6. Continueto clean entire carpet,working in
3' x 4' sections.
7. Emptythe CollectionTankwhen dirtywater reaches
the full line, orwhen the Clean/SolutionTank is
empty.Seepage8 for instructions.
8. If Floor Nozzlestops spraying,turn Power Switch
OFFand checkwater and cleaningsolution levels.
Refill if needed.
1. Attach HardFloorToolto Unit.
2. Removethe CollectionTank(refer to #3a and b in
the RoutineMaintenancesectionon page 8)
A. For1770/1970 seriesit is necessaryto
removethe CrossAction Brushfirst.
Usingyour thumbs squeezethe 2 grey tabs
towards the outside of the unit. Push down
at the sametime and releasethe Cross
Action Brush.
3. Attach the Hard FloorToolby hooking it intothe
front of the removablenozzleand swinging it
down until the tabs pop into place.
4. Replacethe CollectionTank. Besure to attachthe
2 latches.
5. Fill Clean/SolutionTankwith BISSELLHardFloor
SolutionsTM to FORMULAfill line.
6. Fill Clean/SolutionTankwith hot (not boiling)tap
water to the WATERfill line.
7. Followsteps 1-8 in Deep Cleaningsectionabove.

To Install the Re lacement Brush Belt
*QuickSteamer PowerBrush models only
|. TLrnthe machineoff and unplug from wall outlet.
2. RemoveClean/Solutionand CollectionTanks.
3. Lie machinedown to access the bottomof
the machine.
4. Witha Phillipshead screwdriver,(_ unscrew the
BrushCoverand remove.
5. Removethe BrushEndCap and removebelt
from brush.
6. Brushcan now be removed.
7. Belt can be removedby slidingoff the Motor Pulley.
8. Cleanor replace belt. Attach belt to Motor pulley
and brush, insert brushinto right side EndCap.
9. Reattachthe left End Capand slide brush back
into place.
10. Replacethe brush coverand screw into place.
