![SMS text messagesSMS text message basicsAbout SMS text messagesWith an SMS phone number, you can send and receive SMS text messages. An SMS phone number is a phone number that your wirelessservice provider sets up for SMS text messaging. If you have more than one SMS phone number for your BlackBerry® device, your devicesends SMS messages using the primary number.You can send SMS text messages to contacts who have SMS phone numbers. You can also forward SMS text messages as PIN or emailmessages.Find your SMS phone numberIn the phone, the My Number field displays your phone number. If your wireless service provider has set up your BlackBerry® device forSMS text messaging, this number is also your SMS phone number.Open a messageIn a message list, click a message.Note: If your BlackBerry® device is associated with more than one email address, you might be able to open messages from the messagelist for a specific email address.Send an SMS text message1. In a message list, press the key.2. Click Compose SMS.3. Perform one of the following actions:•If the contact is not in your address book, click [Use Once]. Type an SMS phone number (include the country code and areacode) or an email address. Click the trackball.• If the contact is in your address book, click a contact.4. Type a message.5. ![MMS messagesMMS message basicsAbout MMS messagesWith an MMS phone number, you can send and receive MMS messages that contain media files such as .jpg, .gif, .wbmp, .midi, .vcf(vCard®), or .ics (iCalendar) files. An MMS phone number is a phone number that your wireless service provider sets up for MMS messaging.If you have more than one MMS phone number for your BlackBerry® device, your device sends MMS messages using the primary number.You can add pictures that are not copyright protected to an MMS message, but the message cannot exceed 300 KB.MMS prerequisites• Verify that your BlackBerry® device supports MMS messaging.• Verify that your wireless service plan includes this service.Contact your system administrator or wireless service provider for more information.Find your MMS phone numberIn the phone, the My Number field displays your phone number. If your wireless service provider has set up your BlackBerry® device forMMS messaging, this number is also your MMS phone number.Open an MMS messageIn a message list, click an MMS message.If MMS content does not appear when you open the message, press the Menu key.
