P/N DataRelay900 Rev1 Page 1 of 1 Description The DataRelay900 forms an intermediate node between the central DataSend unit and the Water Meters (Endpoints) in a DataStream Radio network. The system is specifically designed to receive radio transmissions from TransPondIT, DataSource915 and ESP modules. Each DataRelay is able to monitor the transmissions from up to 50 individual Endpoint modules. Note Please refer to the Technical Manual for further information. Specification Power Supply: 5Vdc 400mA Operating Frequency: 902MHz to 928MHz (Frequency Hopping) Required Equipment The following items are required for DataRelay installation: • DataRelay900. • 5Vdc 400mA Power supply. Installation Instructions Note: DataStream Systems are intended to be professionally installed. Only a half-wave dipole antenna with a maximum gain of 2.15dBi should be fitted to the product to meet the FCC regulations. The DataRelay Unit is designed to be ‘wall-mounted’ and unattended in normal operation. To mount the unit: 1. Before fitting, make a note of the 3-digit DataRelay ID, as recorded on the Serial Number Label. This number will be required later to configure the central DataSend unit. 2. Remove the box lid; use a screwdriver to release each of the lid screws from the box. 3. Before fixing, ensure the Box is positioned so that the RF antenna may be orientated vertically (upwards). 4. Using suitable wall mountings screw the box to the wall through the holes in the four corners of the box. 5. Once the box is securely fixed to the wall, refit the Lid and fit the supplied blanking caps to cover the lid screws. 6. Finally connect a suitable 5Vdc Power Supply to the 2.1mm Power Jack. Configuration Procedure The DataRelay is designed to be exclusively controlled ‘over-the-air’ via the DataStream Network, and so configuration will be carried out via the central DataSend unit – either remotely or via the internal USB interface. See the ‘DataSend Installation Instructions’ and the ‘DataStream Configuration Manual‘ for details. General Warnings and Safety Caution Ensure a separation distance of at least 20 cm (8 inches) is normally maintained between the transmitter’s antenna and the body of the user or nearby persons.
