According to Chinese mythology, the first cup of tea was accidentally made in 2737 BC. The Chinese Emperor, Shen Nung, scholar and herbalist, was quietly sitting beneath a tree while his ser vant dutifully boiled the drinking water. A leaf from the tree above dropped into the water, and when the water was fully boiled, Shen Nung decided to tr y the new leafy drink. He loved it. The tree was a wild tea tree, and the rest is histor y.
