Three of the frequencies may be combined to form a system (*). 169.445, |69.505*, 170.245, 170.305, 171.045", 171.105, 171.845, and 1719055 Other combinations can be used depending on the application. Contact Telex Sales for assistance. The Telex PB-l Series features single channel crystal controlled units for the ultimate stability and clarity as well as economy. A single switch turns on the RF and Audio to eliminate unnecessary confusion. SETUP: Before setting up the transmitter, it is necessary to set up the receiver or at least check the receiver operation if the receiver has been installed previously. PB—l Owners Manual Page 2 Place the receiver in an area where the antenna is in clear view of the transmitter operating area if possible. Connect the receiver audio output to the audio input of the VCR, mixer. amplifier or other device. Turn the input to these items down at this point. Apply power to the receiver. Note that there should be no ”Carrier" relay activated in the receiver at this time. If the relay is activated, this indicates RF interference to the channel and the interference must be eliminated or you should consider changing the channel frequency. It" the interference is not severe, suitable operation can sometimes made possible by adjusting the internal squelch control until the relay de—activales. If the relay cannot be made to go off by adjusting the squelch control, then the channel should be abandoned. Set the VCR or other audio device input volume control to its normal setting. If the input volume is excessive, the internal receiver volume can be adjusted. Open the transmitter battery door and install a fresh 9 volt alkaline battery. Plug the microphone into the transmitter if your model has a connector. Clip or place the transmitter and microphone in the position desired and turn on the power switch. The battery light should flash once and go off. The relay in the receiver should be activated and the VCR or other device should be running. You are now ready to use the microphone. Talk in your normal tone and volume. If the audio to the VCR, mixer or amplifier sounds distorted or clipped, try reducing the input volume of the mixer or amplifier first, or turn the volume down in the receiver. If the audio is still distorted, adjust the transmitter microphone gain control located inside of the battery compartment, PB—l Transmitter Page 3 FCC REGULATIONS: The Telex Model PB-l is Type Accepted under United States Federal Communications Part 90.265.
