Preliminary Users Manual, Electro-Voice Model HTU-2  Wireless Microphone Handheld Transmitter   The component above is part of a Electro-Voice/Telex Wireless Microphone System. The transmitter is designed to be used in Live Sound Reinforcement applications where Sound Quality and Reliability are of prime importance. Simplicity of operation is assured  along with flexibility for varying venues. Operating features and cosmetics are slightly different between Electro-Voice (Ev) and Telex models but both are electrically identical. Ev HTU-2/Telex HT-500    Page 3  Handheld Transmitter set-up:  1. Before setting up the transmitter, please refer to the RE-2/FMR-500 Receiver manual . If the receiver has been set up, continue to step 2. 2. Install a fresh Alkaline Battery into the transmitter. 3. Insure that the Microphone Gain Control is set at about 50 % of        rotation or less. 4.  Place the Power Switch in the ON position.    The Red Low Battery Light (“Batt”) near the display should “flash”      one time if the battery is good. If the light remains on, the battery is     weak and should be replaced. No flash at all indicates a dead battery     or no battery installed. 5. The screen should display the GP (Group) and CH (Channel) screen. If the Group and Channel agree with the receiver Group and Channel, proceed to the next step. If the Group and Channel do not agree with the receiver, or you wish to change them for any reason, proceed with this step.  Press the SET switch one time. The GP number will start flashing. Use the UP (arrow) switch to increase the Group or the Down (arrow) to decrease the Group number. Press Set when the Group desired is displayed. The Channel number will now be flashing. Use the Up or Down arrow to select the desired channel. Press Set when the Group and Channel is selected.  6. Monitor the RE-2/FMR-500 Receiver operating screen. Note that the RF (1-100) Bar Graph should indicate near the 100 bar if the transmitter is close to the receiver. The AF Bar Graph should show very little or no indication until you talk or sing into the microphone. Adjust the Gain Control (small screwdriver adjustment located in the hole between the display and the microphone element) if necessary, to cause the AF bar graph to peak near –3 but not over +3 for best performance.      7.  If you are satisfied with the Group/Channel and AF screen displays,             the mixer or sound system gain/volume can be increased to monitor            the sound. The Handheld System is now ready for use. 8. Switch the Power off when use is complete.

Licensing of Electro-Voice/Telex equipment is the users responsibility and Licensability depends upon the users classification, users application and frequency selected. Electro-Voice/Telex strongly urges the user to contact the appropriate telecommunications authority for any desired clarification.   CAUTION: Any changes or modifications made to the above equipment could void the users authority to operate the equipment.  This device and its antenna must not be co-located or operated in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter.
