Troubleshooting Guide
Problem
Possible Solution
Power indicator does not turn on.
— Check the AC powercord; is H
connected properly?
— Rotate VOLUME clockwise until it
'clicks" to turn unit on.
Cannot receive response.
— ls intercom set to designated channel?
— Release TALK when not talking.
— If the intercom is locked, release lock by
pressing TALK or CALL.
— Flotate VOLUME clockwise to
increase sound level.
Cannot talk to other intercom.
— Are both intercoms set to the same
channel?
— Wail until other user has finished

Thanks lor purchasing this S-channel FM wire-
less intercom Model AFSaS. This is an "IN-
STANT' intercom system. Simply plug the
intercom inIo standard AC outlets. and you're
readyto send and receive calls orto monitor
the room where the stations are installed. All
the salety and operating instruction should be
read belore the appliance is operated and re-
tained for luture relerence.
Features
The intercoms use radio rrequencies (452-467 MHz)
called channels to communicate with each other.

2 power source that supplies regulated 6 v no
and delivers at least 800 mA. lts center tip must
be set to positive and its plug must rit the intarcom‘s
Dc 6Vjack. Using an adapterthat does not
meet these specifications could damage the
intercoms or the adapter. Always connect the
AC adapters Io Ihe intercoms belore you connect
them to AC power. When you linish, disconnect
the adapters lrom AC power belore you disc-
onnect them Ironi the interconis.

Installation
You can install your intercom almost anywhere
there is a standard AC outlet. You can either
mountthe intercoms on the wall, or place them
on a desktop ortabie. Then, simply plug them
in and you are ready to communicate.

Follow these steps to prepare the stations ior use.
1. To turn on the intercom, rotate VOLUME
clockwise until it clicks. The cHANNEL (But-
ton) lights. Set VOLUME to mid-range.
2. Sat CHANNEL and cALLiNe tor each sta-
tion to the appropriate channel, as rollows:
* If you want all the stations to communicate
with each otherat the same time. set all sta-
tions to the same channel.
. ii you want to set up separate communica-
tion systems, set each station to a different
channel.
Forexample. at home you could setthe
kitchen's station to channel 1, the lamily
room‘s station to Channel 2, the bedroom's
station to Channel 3, The kitchen can co-
mmunicate with theianiiiy room hy setting
CHANNEL to 2 and with the bedroom
by setting CHANNEL to 3. Writes names

Calling
Follow these steps to talk to another sIation.
1. PRESS CHANNEL button to the channel (1,
2, a oi the station you are calling.
2. Press CALL. The talk indicator lights. Each
station set to the selected channel sounds
a tone.
3. Press and hold down TALK. The talk indica-
Iorlights. Speak in a normal voice.Then,
release TALK when you linish speaking and
listen rorthe response.
Listening
When you hear a call tone or a caller's voice.
adjust VOLUME to a comfortable listening
level.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
- ONLY ONE PARTY CAN TALK ON ONE CHAN-
NEL AT A TIME.
- BE SURE To SET CHANNEL EAGKTO VOUR
DESIGNATED CHANNEL AFTER You FINISH

Monitoring
Pressing LOCK has the same elfecl as hold-
ing down TALK. Use LOCK to set the inter
corn for monitoring another station's location
(such as a nursery or playroom). or when other
one-way communication is needed.
Follow these instructions to monitor another
location.
1. Press LOCK on the station in the area you
want to monitor.The talk indicator lights.
2. Listen rrom your station.
3. To release the lock. press TALK on the
monitored station, The talk indicator goes
out.
Note : You cannot call or talk to the locked
station while LOCK is on. Remember to re-
lease the lock when you rinish monitoring.
Using additional stations
You may add additional stations to the system.
Any 3-channel intercom that transmits on the
same lrequencies is compatible.
CAUTIONS
The Iollowing suggeslions will help you care

- Keep the station dry, II the station gets wet,
wipe them dry immediately. Liquids might
contain minerals that can corrode the elec-
tronic circuits.
' Use and store the stations only in a normal
temperature environments. Temperature ex-
tremes can shorten the lite of electronic de-
vices, damage batteries, and distortor melt
plastic parts.
- Handle the stations gently and carelully.
Dropping them can damage the circuit hoards
and can cause the stalions to work
improperly.
- Keep the stations away from dust and dirt,
which can cause premature wear ol pans.
- Wipe the stations with a damp cloth occa-
sionally to keep them looking new. Do not
use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or
strong detergents to clean the stations.
- Modirying or tampering with the station's in-
ternal components can cause a malrunction
and might invalidate the intercom's warranty
and void your Fcc authorization to operate

lerence even when it is operating properly. To
determine whether youiintercom is causingthe
interlerenca, turn on the stations, ii the inter-
Ierence goes away, your intercom is causing
the interlerence. Try to eliminate the
interierence by:
~ Moving your stations away troni the receiver.
- Connecting your stations to an outlet that is
on a dilferent electrical circuit lrom the re-
ceiver.
It you cannot eliminate the interlerence. the
Eco requires that you stop using your intercom.
Changes or modifications not expressly approved by
the party responsible ier compliance could void the
user ‘ s authority to operate the equipment.
The antennas used lor this transmitter must be installed
to provide a separation distance of at least 20 cm from
all persons and must not be co-located ior operating in
conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter.
