9-CHANNEL FM WIRELESS INTERCOM
Thanks tor purchasing this 9-ehannel FM wire-
less intercom Model AFSBS. This is an "IN-
STANT' intercom system. Simply plug the
intercom into standard AC outlets. and you‘re
ready to send and receive calls orto monitor
the room where the stations are installed. All
the safety and operating instruction should be
read home the appliance is operated and re-
tained for iuture reference.
Features
The lntercoms use radiolrequenoies (467 MHZ)
called channels to communicate with each other.

Power AC adapteronly. You must use a Class
2power source that supplies regulated 6 v DC
and delivers at least 800 mA. Its center tip must
be set to positive and its plug must rit the intercom‘s
Dc 6 Viack. u ‘ g an adapterthat does not
meet these spec icalions could damage the
intercoms or the adapter. Always connect the
AC adapters to the intercoms before you connect
them to AC power. When you finish. disconnect
the adapters from AC power belore you disc-
onnect them irom the intercoms.

You can install your intercom almost anywhere
there is a standard AC outlet. You can either
mount the intercoms on the wall. or place them
on adesktop ortable. Then. simply plug them
in and you are ready to communicate.

Operation
Follow these steps to prepare the stations ror use.
1. To turn on the intercom. rotate VOLUME
Clockwise until it clicks. The CHANNEL indi-
cator lights. Set VOLUME to mid-range.
2. Set CHANNEL and CALLING tor each sta-
tionto the appropriate channel. as rollows:
‘ If you want all the stations to communicate
with each other at the same time. set all sta-
tions to the same channel.
‘ If you want to set up separate communica-
tion systems. set each Station to a different
channel.
Forexample. at home you could setthe
kitchen's station to channel 1. the Iamily
room's station to Channel 2, the bedroom‘s
statlon to Channel 3. and the garage to
Channel 4. The kitchen can communicate
with the lamily room by setting CHANNEL
to 2 and with the bedroom by setting
CHANNEL to 3. Writes names on Stations

Calling
Follow these steps to talk to another station.
1. PRESS CHANNEL button to the channel (1.
2. s or 4) or the station you are calling.
2. Press CALL. The talk indicator lights. Each
station set to the selected channel sounds
atone.
3. Press and hold down TALK. The talk indica
tor lights. Speak in a normal voice.Then.
release TALK when you finish speaking and
listen lorthe response.
Listening
When you hear a call tone or a caller's voice.
adjust VOLUME to a comfortable listening
level.

Monitoring
Pressing LOCK has the same enact as hold-
ing down TALK. Use LOCK to set the inter-
com tormonltoring another station‘slocation
lsuch as a nurseryor playroom), orwhen other
one-way communicationls needed.
Follow these instructions to monitor another
location.
1. Press LOCK on the station in the area you
want to monitor.The talk indicator lights.
2. Listen trom your station.
3.To release the lock. press TALK on the
monitored station, The talk indicatorgoes
out.
Note : You cannot call or talk to the locked
station while LOCK is on. Remember to re-
lease the luck when you finish monitoring.
Using additional stations
You may add additional stations to the system.
Any 9-channel intercom that transmits on the
same trequencies is compatible.
CAUTIONS
The ioIIowing suggestions will help you care
loryour s-channel FM Wireless intercom so you
can enjoy it for years.
- Keepthe elation dry. If the station gets wet.
wipe them dry immediately. Liquids might
contain minerals that can corrode the elec-
tronic circuits.
' Use and store the stations only in a normal
temperature environments, Temperature ex-
tremes can shonen the life of electronic de-
vices. damage batteries. and distort or melt
plastic pans.
. Handle the stations gently and carefully.
Droppingthem can damage the circuit boards
and can cause the stations to work

- Keep the stations away lrom dust and din.
which can cause premature wear ol parts.
~ Wipe the statinns with a damp cloth occa-
sionally to keep them looking new. Do not
use harsh chemicals. cleaning solvents. or
strong detergents to clean the stations.
- Modifying or tampering with the station's in-
ternal components can cause a malfunction
and might invalidate the intercom‘s warranty
and void your FCC authorization to operate
it. It your intercom is not performing as it
should. take it to your local store for
assistance.
THE FCC WANTS YOU TO KNOW
Your intercom might cause TV or radio inter-
ference even when it is operating properly.To
determine whetheryourintercom is causingthe
interference, turn olfthe stations. If the inter-
ference goes away, your intercom is causing
the interierence. Try to eliminate the
interference by:
- Moving your stations away from the receiver.
- Connecting your stations to an outlet that is
on a different electrical clrcuittrom the re-
ceiver.
ll you cannot eliminate the interference, the
FCC requires that you stop using your intercom.
Changes or modifications not expressly approved by
the party responsible torccmpliancc could void the
user ’ s authority to operate the equipment.

conju nation with any other antenna or transmitter.
