SOFTWARE • Digital Photo Front-Access • Print Plug-in for DPP • Print Plug-in for Adobe® Photoshop® • PosterArtist 2007 (optional) 12 color inks for ultra-high-quality imaging Two print-heads ensure faster output L-COA Image Processor Built-in calibration, LUCIA inks, and Kyuanos color management— all in one printer The new iPF6100 printer is equipped with the ability to recalibrate itself to the original optimal factory settings and apply any necessary adjustments across the printer’s media types. This creates a more stable, predictable printing platform on which superior results can be consistently achieved. • Looks great from every angle. The polymer coating also reduces “bronzing” so that images printed by the iPF6100 printer will not have an unwanted sheen when viewed from different angles. KYUANOS—MAINTAINING PRECISE COLOR IN ANY ENVIRONMENT The iPF6100 printer achieves uniform highquality color with Canon’s development of Kyuanos, the next-generation color management system that delivers consistent and accurate color under different viewing conditions such as fluorescent lights, incandescent lights, or sunlight. Sophisticated color science is made simple by a sensor that scans and reads test patterns; makes calculations for color density, light, and media; and then automatically applies any needed adjustments across the print profiles for the media types. The profiles applied by the iPF6100 printer have been specifically optimized by Canon to address the unique requirements of printing large-format images. The result is reliable color reproduction across the media types, from machine to machine, print to print, day after day. Kyuanos incorporates the advanced Ambient Light Adjustment function for select media,* which optimizes output for differences in lighting conditions for consistent color in accordance with different lighting environments. This function is to ensure optimal color reproduction in each finished print. LUCIA INK, CANON’S MOST ADVANCED INK FORMULATION Canon’s LUCIA pigment ink offers excellent color fastness and stability with a remarkably wide color gamut. With the imagePROGRAF Lighting Check Chart, it’s easy to gauge ambient lighting conditions without having to use special tools. • Smooth color transitions and solid fills. The iPF6100 printer’s LUCIA ink is specially formulated to reduce graininess. Images printed with this ink will have a smoother, more continuous tone for a more “photographic” effect. • Durable prints. A special polymer coating around each ink particle improves ink adhesion with media to increase durability and scratch resistance. CRISP CLEAN MONOCHROME OUTPUT Black, Matte Black, Gray, and Photo Gray have been reformulated for exceptional monochrome photo-quality output. Plus, these new inks dramatically reduce bronzing while providing stronger ink adhesion to the print media resulting in better scratch-resistance. Based on the type of media being used, the iPF6100 printer automatically matches the correct black ink to achieve the best print results. By automatically switching between the two black inks, Canon has eliminated the waste that can occur if these inks must be switched manually. Photo credit: ©Eddie Tapp BUILT FOR PERFORMANCE AND PRODUCTIVITY At the core the iPF6100 printer is Canon’s innovative L-COA processor—an advanced system processor that optimizes output speed and print quality. L-COA intelligently manages print data and directs the highprecision, high-density print-heads to deposit ink with unprecedented speed. This unique processor ensures that complex graphics and color-rich photographic images are optimized for clarity, richness, and accuracy. Canon’s L-COA processor provides the basis for advanced and rapid image processing, then channels the output through dual oneinch print-heads, each with 2,560 nozzles per color for a total of 30,720 nozzles. More nozzles means more ink is ejected with every pass of the print-head for high-speed output in every mode. Superfine 4pl ink droplets and resolutions up to 2400 x 1200 dpi produce the delicate color gradation and the high-definition expression required for photoquality images, small fonts, and precise lines. OPTIMIZING YOUR OPERATING TIME The iPF6100 printer incorporates an array of utilities designed to maximize system run-time and enhance operator productivity, including: • Media length detection and management • Ink-level detection system • Non-firing nozzle detection and compensation systems CANON WORKFLOW SOLUTIONS An array of workflow solutions are available with the iPF6100 printer to expand its capabilities and simplify its use. These software packages provide the additional tools needed to address the unique Print Plug-in for Photoshop requirements of large-format printing applications. • Print Plug-in for Adobe Photoshop and Digital Photo Professional for enhanced image processing • Canon Printer Driver 2007 to optimize workflow productivity • Digital Photo Front-Access—Digital file display and application linkage software • PosterArtist 2007 (optional) poster-creation software iPF6100 Magnificent Professional Results Every aspect of the iPF6100 printer has been engineered to seamlessly integrate the myriad of functions required to produce the ultra-high-quality images that professionals demand. Photo credit: ©Parish Kohanim PORTRAITS AND PHOTOGRAPHY Canon, a leader in digital photography, has included with the iPF6100 printer the essential tools and technologies needed to produce exceptional photo enlargements. Digital Photo Front-Access has been developed by Canon as a utility to import images from a camera, memory card, USB, etc. and incorporate them into software applications such as PosterArtist and Adobe Photoshop. The Print Plug-in for Photoshop and Digital Photo Professional enable 16-bit image processing of images to dramatically improve gradations and image quality. The system’s wide color gamut produces richer, deeper tones and more realistic images. Canon’s durable LUCIA pigment inks are formulated to further reduce graininess, minimize “bronzing,” and resist scratching and fading. These features combined with the iPF6100 printer’s high-resolution output and precise placement of a tiny 4pl droplet mean that museum-quality photo enlargements can be produced with absolute confidence. PROOFING The speed of the iPF6100 printer makes it one of the fastest proofing devices available; an application such as an entire magazine layout can print at outstanding speeds. The wide color gamut enabled by the 12-color ink set means that a greater range of colors can be reproduced and the stability of Canon’s LUCIA pigment inks increases the reliability of the proof, as the prints will exhibit little or no perceptible color shift. Canon’s patented 30,720-nozzle, 2400 x 1200 dpi print-head technology delivers clear images, smooth transitions, and solid fills required for professional proofing applications. POSTERS, BANNERS, DISPLAYS, AND MORE... For professionals, capability means productivity and profit.
