READ AND SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
CAUTION: RISK OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK!
All wiring must be performed in accordance with national and local electrical codes. If you are unfamiliar with the
wiring codes, you should use a qualified electrician. To avoid overheating and possible damage to other equip-
ment, do not install control to a receptacle, fluorescent light fixture, motor operated appliance, or transformer-
supplied appliance. Use only to control one paddle-blade ceiling fan and attached incandescent light fixture.
NOTES:
1. This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this
device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interfer-
ence that may cause undesired operation.
2. This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15
of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential
installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in
accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no
guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference
to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged
to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:
Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.
Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.
3. For use only with Casablanca 3-Speed ceiling fans that use the Hang•Tru® canopy mounting system. Not for use with
other brands of ceiling fans.
4. Medium and Low fan speeds are determined by the Adapt•Touch™ control and thus may vary from the factory settings
due to normal motor variations.
BEFORE INSTALLING THE ADAPT•TOUCH™ CONTROL
Step 1. Use the pull-chain switch to set the fan speed to the
HIGH position before installation. Do not use the pull-chain
to change the fan speed after installation, as damage to your
ceiling fan or Adapt•Touch™ control may result. The speed
of the fan should only be changed by the Adapt•Touch™
control.
Step 2. Set the ceiling fan light kit to the ON position before
installation. The light level should only be changed by the
Adapt•Touch™ control.

Step 3. Disconnect power to the ceiling fan and light kit at
the main electric panel. Remove fuse or move circuit breaker
to the OFF position.
Step 4. IMPORTANT! Before installing this control, change
the factory default dip switch settings to your own unique
code. Be sure the dip switch positions of the transmitter and
receiver match, or the ceiling fan will not function. Select
different combinations of dip switches to prevent
misoperation due to other remote control fans, garage door
openers, etc.
Step 5a. If you are installing the remote control with a new
fan installation, complete the fan installation according to
its instructions, up to the point of installing the Hang•Tru®
canopy.
Step 5b. If the fan is already installed, reverse the installa-
tion procedure to remove the ceiling fan and Hang•Tru®
canopy from the Crossbar Mounting Bracket.
CONNECTING RECEIVER AND HOUSE WIRING
Step 6. Use the 2 large wire nuts supplied to connect the
black and white wires on the top of the receiver to the house
wiring. Place each of the bare ends of wire next to each
other, then secure with a large wire nut. Test the connection
by pulling on the wire nut. (FIG. 2)
The BLACK receiver wire connects to the BLACK HOT wire
in the ceiling outlet box.
The WHITE receiver wire connects to the WHITE NEU-
TRAL wire in the ceiling outlet box.
Step 7. Push the wire nuts through the center opening in
the Crossbar Mounting Bracket, so they will not interfere
with the canopy and receiver installation. Route the
house ground wire and the Crossbar Mounting Bracket
ground wire through the hole in the center of the
receiver. (FIG. 3)
INSTALLING RECEIVER IN THE CANOPY
Step 8. Place the Adapt•TouchTM receiver in the Hang•Tru®
canopy with the receiver open side facing the canopy
opening. The receiver will align itself on the screw openings
in the bottom of the canopy.
Step 9. Refer to the “Canopy Installation” section of the
ceiling fan manual for directions on installing the canopy
screws and lock washers. (FIG. 4)
Step 10. Refer to the “Hanging the Fan” section of the
ceiling fan manual for directions on hanging the fan inside
the canopy. Note that the Blue wire of the fan should NOT
be capped, as the Adapt•TouchTM will use this wire for light
control.
NOTE: Do not allow wires to be pinched between the
edge of the Crossbar Mounting Bracket and Receiver.
RECEIVER INSTALLATION PREPARATION
TIP: When aligning the
canopy to the bracket,
install the canopy screw
through the canopy open-
ing first. Install the other
three canopy screws. Then
remove the canopy screw
for use in Step 14.

CONNECTING RECEIVER AND FAN WIRING
Step 12. Use a large wire nut to connect the house ground
to the Mounting Bracket ground wire and ceiling fan ground
wire.
Use the 3 small wire nuts supplied to connect the 3 receiver
wires to the 3 fan wires. Each wire is color coded to match
the fan. Place each of the bare ends of wire next to each
other, then secure with a large wire nut. Test the connection
by pulling on the wire nut. (FIG. 5)

wire
The BLUE light output wire connects to the BLUE light
wire.
The WHITE common wire connects to the WHITE neutral
wire in the ceiling outlet box.
TRANSMITTER PREPARATION
Step 11. Run the antenna through the top hole of the
downrod as shown.
NOTE: Confirm that the DIP switch settings on the
receiver match your transmitter’s DIP switch settings
before installing the canopy hatch.
Step 16. Install the battery inside the hand-held transmitter
after setting the transmitter DIP switches to match the DIP
switches in the receiver. The battery is a 12 volt type A23,
23A, MN-21, or equivalent, commonly found with camera
supplies.
Step 17. Mount the remote holder over the ceiling fan’s wall
switch using the supplied wall plate screws. If you have
rocker-style switches, break off the inside tabs that are used
to mount to a standard toggle switch wall plate.
The transmitter can be placed on the remote holder for
convenience or safekeeping.
TESTING THE CONTROL
Step 18. When the installation is complete, restore power at
main electrical panel. Then, turn on the wall switch. The
light kit should turn On. If the light remains Off, turn off the
power at the wall switch. Pull the light kit’s pull chain to turn
the light On.
WARNING! Do not use the pull chain to operate the
light. Pulling the chain while power is applied can
damage the receiver. It is recommended to shorten
the pull chain(s) to prevent accidental use.
Step 19. Press the remote control’s High speed button (3
raised dots). The fan should start and reach its maximum
speed. If the fan does not start, or is turning too slow, turn
off the power at the wall switch. Pull the fan’s pull chain to
change speeds. Reapply power and try High speed again.
Repeat this procedure until you have confirmed that the
fan’s pull chain is set to High speed.
WARNING! Do not use the pull chain switch to
change speeds. Pulling the chain while power is
applied can damage the receiver or ceiling fan.
NOTE: Failure to run the antenna through the downrod
may result in reduced operating range.
