- 3 -       Introduction   Introduction to Bluetooth Wireless Technology Bluetooth is a short- range wireless communication technology. It allows wireless connections between Bluetooth devices such as cellular phones, personal digital assistants (PDA), desktop and notebooks computers, input-output devices (mouse, keyboards, printers), and home appliances. Bluetooth refers to a worldwide standard designed to operate in the internationally recognized ISM (Industrial Scientific and Medical) frequency band. Within the ISM band (2.4Ghz – 2.48Ghz) Bluetooth transmissions hop between 79 separate frequencies 1,600 times per second, and with a communication range of about 10 meters (class II).  Bluetooth Handsfree System The Bluetooth Handsfree System is a Bluetooth device developed using the latest Bluetooth technology, which  provides drivers with advanced handsfree functions. The handsfree gives you not only convenience but safety and enjoyment to talk on your mobile phone while you’re traveling.
- 4 -    Getting Started Install the Bluetooth Handsfree  (Fig. 1, fastener assembling.)  (Fig. 2, handsfree rotation and LCD screen swing.) 1. Peel off any one side adhesive cover of the supplied Velcro strip and attach it on the bottom of the Handsfree. (Fig. 1) 2. Peel off the other side of the Velcro strip adhesive cover and attach the Handsfree on a proper place in your car. 3. Adjust the LCD display till you may easily view the LCD screen from the driver seat. (Fig.2)  Note: Make sure that you attach the Handsfree on a smooth, clean and flat surface and place on where the buttons can be easily reached for operation.  Connect the Power Adapter Stick Velcro strip here.
- 5 -   (Fig. 3, handsfree and power adapter connecting diagram) 1. Plug adapter head of the car charger into the lighter plug. The indicator will be turned on. 2. Connect the other end to the Handsfree. (Fig. 3) Operations of the Handsfree Control Panel  (Fig. 4, control panel) Turn On/Off 1. For the first time use, the Handsfree system would be turned on automatically after the Power Adapter is connected. You will see the light-up of LCD screen and the appearance of “BT Handsfree”. In the meanwhile, all buttons will light up. 2. Thereafter, press and hold Power button for 2 seconds till the Handsfree is turned on. 3. To turn off the Handsfree, press and hold Power button for 2 seconds.    Pair Pairing is required before you use the Handsfree with mobile phone. Following steps will lead you through the procedures. Step 1: The Handsfree ought to be powered off before initiate pairing. To initiate pairing, press and hold Power button for 4 seconds until the blue backlights of buttons are flashing. Step 2: Initiate pairing process of your mobile phone. Refer to the manual of mobile phone for the detail. You will see a new item  “BT Handsfree” being added in your Bluetooth device list after “Searching for Bluetooth device”. Step 3:  You will be asked to enter pin-code to complete pairing process. Please  enter the default pin-code “1234”.  Note: 1. If the Handsfree is not in pairing mode, your mobile phone won't be able to find the Handsfree. Please set the Handsfree on pairing mode before searching for the Handsfree on your mobile. Talk Vol - Power Vol +
- 6 -  2. Pairing will be failed if the process can’t be finished in 2 minutes. You may need to repeat steps 1 to 3 until pairing succeeds 3. Paired devices will keep paired no matter rebooting, powering off or changing battery.  Making Calls You are able to use the Handsfree to make calls after it’s successfully paired with your mobile phone. 1. Voice dialing – Press and hold Vol+ button for 2 seconds, waiting for a beep and speak out the name of the person you want to call to. Press Vol+ button again to cancel voice dialing. 2. Using phone keypad – Using phone keypad to dial the number as you usually do. Once the call has been set up, the voice will be automatically transmitted to the Handsfree. 3. Redial – Press and hold Vol- button for 2 seconds to redial the last number you called.  Search for Numbers The Handsfree stores the latest 20 sets of numbers which you have dialed or received by the Handsfree. 1. Press Vol+ for page-up and Vol- for page-down to search for the latest numbers. 2. Press Talk button to dial the number. 3. Press Power button to exit searching.  Answer/End Calls 1. User will hear ring tone when the mobile phone rings and the caller’s number will be shown up on the LCD screen. Press Talk button to answer the call. 2. Press Power button to reject the call. 3. Adjust the volume by pressing Vol+ button for volume up and pressing Vol- button for volume down. 4. End calls by pressing Talk button again.  Transfer/Switch Calls 1. Press and hold Vol+ button for 2 seconds to transfer the call to mobile phone while talking on the Handsfree. If you want to transfer the call back to the Handsfree, press Talk button again. 2. Press and hold Vol- button for 2 seconds to switch to the second call. This function only works if your mobile phone service provider enables it.  Mute Press Power button for Mute function while talking on a phone.   Press Power button again to cancel the Mute function.  Important Information Trouble Shooting - Make sure that the two devices have been paired. - Make sure that the Handsfree is turned on. - Make sure that the two devices are within working range. - Make sure that your Mobile Phone’s signal is strong enough. - Some Bluetooth mobile phones support only one Bluetooth Handsfree. Disconnection may occur when there is more than one Handsfree paired with your mobile phone.  Warning
- 7 -  - Use of not provided by original manufacturer accessories may result in performance deterioration, injury, products’ damage, electronic shock, and warranty termination. - Attempt to disassemble your Handsfree may damage it, and the warranty will be invalid. - Do not put the Handsfree in a dusty place.   - Use only a clean soft cloth to clean your Handsfree. - Do not allow children to play with your Handsfree. Injuring may occur to them. - Do not expose the Handsfree in an extremely hot or cold temperature.  About Pairing What is Pairing? Pairing is a process of associating Bluetooth devices to each other. It will establish a permanent security link between the devices and enable quick access to the services provided without entering passkeys.  Bluetooth Passkey Each Handsfree has a default passkey 1234 for pairing, which is stored in its internal memory. You are usually required to enter the passkey 1234 during pairing process with a Bluetooth mobile phone or other devices, depends on whichever Bluetooth device that the Handsfree is connected to. Please refer to the users’ manual of the devices for the specific operation.  Paired devices remain paired even when: - One of the devices is not powered on. - A service connection is interrupted or the service stopped. - One or both devices are rebooted.  FAQ    1.  Why does the Handsfree not work with my mobile phone after the Handsfree has been switched on?       A:   You have to activate the Bluetooth function of your mobile phone and pair it with the Handsfree.    2.  Does the Handsfree work with all types of mobile phones?       A:   No. It works only with Bluetooth enabled mobile phones.    3.  What is the operation distance between the Handsfree and a Bluetooth mobile phone?      A:  The Handsfree has been tested and approved by BQB. It is fully compliant to Bluetooth v.1.1, class II, Headset and  Handsfree Profile. The maximum operation distance can be up to 10 meters. However, it will be  interfered and eliminated by different environments and  variable brands of mobile phones. Some mobile phones enable shorter effective distance.    4.  When my mobile phone is searching for the Handsfree, why do many Bluetooth devices appear on my mobile phone?      A:  Most Bluetooth mobile phones can search for more than one Bluetooth device within the operating range. The Handsfree will appear as "BT Handsfree" or "Unknown Device" on your mobile phone after it has been found.
- 8 -     5.  Why can’t my mobile phone find the Handsfree?      A:  If the Handsfree is not in pairing mode, your mobile phone won't be able to find the Handsfree. Please set the Handsfree into pairing mode before starting searching on the mobile.  (Please refer to the User Manual for the detail.)    6.  Do I need to pair the Handsfree with my mobile phone whenever I use it?      A:  No. Once two devices have been paired, they will remain paired even if one or both devices are powered off.    7.  Why there is a disturbance noise coming from the Handsfree?      A:  The performance of the Handsfree will be interfered by the following: 1) Whether your mobile phone is in a good signal area. If  not, you won't hear clearly with the Handsfree. 2) Whether it is within the operative range.    8.  What should I do if the voice is not clear?      A:  Adjust the volume on your mobile phone, or press the Vol+ button of the Handsfree to increase volume, or check your mobile phone if it is in a good signal area.    9.  Why does the Handsfree stop working suddenly?      A:  Some Bluetooth mobile phones, which have a problem with the Bluetooth implementation, will occasionally but not often, get into a Bluetooth shutdown status in unpredictable circumstances. When this occurs, please reset your mobile phone by reinstalling the battery. (It is not necessary to do the Pairing again.)    10. Why does the voice dialing function not work with the Handsfree?       A:  you may need to record your voice with the Handsfree to your mobile phone. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures: - Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna. - Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver. - Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected. - Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.
