Simply look at the plug “wired” headset for your cellphone. It should be cylindrical in shape and have 3 metal rings and 2 black plastic rings. Most phones have been designed with this type of headset plug. Some Nokia models may have a similar plug, but they have an extra ring of silver and black. If you have a Nokia phone with this arrangement, please purchase an inexpensive converter available at your local phone accessory store. on your Battery Requirement: HeadOn requires the use of inexpensive Zinc Air batteries available at most locations. We strongly suggest the use of the following batteries for longest talk time and best performance: IEI HP675 (Available at very low cost at www.headonwireless.com). RadioShack HP675 (Not standard 657). Duracell # Energizer # Important note: Standard #675 batteries which have lower power may produce reduced talk time. Battery Life: HeadOn features ultra low power technology, which combined with sophisticated full duplex digital secure link can provide amazing talk time as well as unsurpassed stand-by times. Extreme temperatures can affect the battery life. (Leaving HeadOn or its batteries in a very hot or cold car may cause battery degradation). Talk Time: Up to 80 Hours of intermittent use, or 60 hours of continuous use (Speaking 60 hours without stopping!). LockStand-By time: Up to 2000 hours (3 months) with normal daily use. Unlock
Replacing the Batteries: Please take care not to over twist the battery doors. See diagram: Remove protective backing from battery. WAIT 3 MINUTES BEFORE USING THE BATTERY.! (Do not remove the backing until you are ready to use the battery. Once the backing is removed, the life of the battery will start a 90-day countdown). This battery technology contains no components harmful to the environment. They may be disposed of in the trash. Low Battery Warning: HeadOn features a distinctive low battery beep for each of the components. The Head Set with low battery will generate a single “Beep Tone” every 15 seconds. The Base Unit will generate Two Beep Tones when its battery needs replacement. Please note that the tone for both devices is issued in your ear through the headset while you are communicating. There are no beeps issued otherwise. If the system does not operate after long storage, replace the batteries with fresh ones. On-Off Control: HeadOn is the only product of its kind featuring Fully Automatic Operation. There are no On and Off switches on this system. All functions are Automatic. How the system turns On and Off: HeadOn is always “Asleep”. When the base unit (unit attached to the phone) detects sounds coming from the telephone, it will awaken and wake the headset up within 1 second. You may miss the first second of the sound of a ring or button press if the system has been asleep for longer than one hour. If the system is in normal use, it will not go to full sleep mode and there is no “Turn-on delay”. If you remain on hold for an extensive period of time, and HeadOn does not detect any sounds from the telephone, it will go into mid-sleep to save power. During this time, you will not notice any “Hiss” in the background. The system automatically mutes the headset and await any sound to be sent from the cell phone…. Upon which the HeadOn will re-establish communications within 1/2 of a second. All of these functions are automatic and require no user input. Interference HeadOn has been designed to automatically move away from channels that are busy or noisy. If the conversation becomes noisy, HeadOn will change channels transparently. If the noise persists, simply move a few inches. Connecting To The Cellphone HeadOn features two methods of mounting to the phone. You can use the flat mounting plate or a belt clip. How to mount the dongle onto the phone: 1: Mount the dongle onto the plate. 2: Before taping it to the phone, test it…..
- Plug the dongle jack into the headset jack. - Hold the dongle on the phone in the position that you wish to permanently mount the plate. - Make a call and make sure you are happy with the quality of the call. If there is a buzz, move the dongle’s position a bit until the buzz disappears. - Now you can mount the plate using the supplied tape. Belt Clip You can use the belt clip instead of the mounting plate. Simple place the clip over the smooth side of the clip receiver plate and twist into position. Now the Dongle can be mounted to the clip plate. Removing Base Unit From Cellphone Simply press the small lever on the side of the plate down and slide the dongle off the plate. Proper Headset Placement Headset can be positioned in any way that is comfortable to you. The mic tube does not have to be positioned in any particular way for the product to work. Ear Gels HeadOn allows you to choose the ear gel, which fits your ear best. If you wish, you can also trim the non-ribbed side of the gel with scissors to make it a bit shorter to fit you best. Range HeadOn features extended range between the headset and dongle. The range is dependent on the environment and RF noise. It can be between 10 and 50 feet. Out Of Range Indication If the sound becomes noisy and HeadOn us unable to automatically mitigate it, move closer to the dongle. Water Damage HeadOn is not waterproof. If exposed to water, remove and discard the batteries and wait for the unit to completely dry. The unit will not be damaged. Purchasing additional and spare parts
