3 Silver Rings
Cell Phone Compatibility:
HeadOn is compatible with all cell phones, which have a “Round, 2.5mm Standard 3 Ring Headset Plug”. Simply look at the plug on your
“wired” headset for your cellphone. It should be cylindrical in shape and have 3 metal rings and 2 black plastic rings. Most phones have been
designed with this type of headset plug. Some Nokia models may have a similar plug, but they have an extra ring of silver and black. If you have a Nokia
phone with this arrangement, please purchase an inexpensive converter available at your local phone accessory store.
List Of Known Compatible Phones:
Please see www.headonwireless.com for an updated compatibility list.
All Phones Available At RadioShack™.
All Sprint PCS™ Phones.

Battery Requirement:
HeadOn requires the use of inexpensive Zinc Air batteries available at most locations. We strongly recommend the use of high quality batteries.
Battery Life:
HeadOn features ultra low power technology, which combined with sophisticated full duplex digital secure link can provide amazing talk time as well as
unsurpassed stand-by times. Extreme temperatures or high humidity can affect the battery life. (Leaving HeadOn or its batteries in a very hot or cold car
may cause battery degradation).
Talk time is based on the quality of the battery. HeadOn batteries produce the longest talk time of 80 hours. Other batteries may last as long as 40 hours of
talk time. *
*Talk Time: Up to 80 Hours of intermittent use, or 60 hours of continuous use (Speaking 60 hours without stopping!).
Stand-By time: Up to 2000 hours (3 months) with normal daily use.
Lock
Replacing the Batteries:
Please take care not to over-twist the battery doors. See diagram:
Remove protective backing from battery. WAIT 3 MINUTES BEFORE USING THE BATTERY.
Unlock
! (Do not remove the backing more than a few days ahead of use. Once the backing is removed, the life of the battery will start a 90-day
countdown).
This battery technology contains no components harmful to the environment. They may be disposed of in the trash.
Low Battery Warning:
HeadOn features a distinctive low battery beep for each of the components. The Head Set with low battery will generate a single “Beep Tone” every 15
seconds. The Base Unit will generate Two Beep Tones when its battery needs replacement. Please note that the tone for both devices is issued in your ear
through the headset while you are communicating. There are no beeps issued otherwise.
If the system does not operate after long storage, replace the batteries with fresh ones.
On-Off Control:
HeadOn is the only product of its kind featuring Fully Automatic Operation. There are no On and Off switches on this system. All functions are Automatic.
How the system turns On and Off: HeadOn is always “Asleep”. When the base unit (unit attached to the phone) detects sounds coming from the telephone,
it will awaken and wake the headset up within 1 second. You may miss the first ½ second of the sound of a ring or button press if the system has been
asleep.
If you remain on hold for an extensive period of time, and HeadOn does not detect any sounds from the telephone, it will go into mid-sleep to save power.
During this time, you will not notice any “Hiss” in the background. The system automatically mutes the headset and await any sound to be sent from the
cell phone…. Upon which the HeadOn will re-establish communications within 1/50 of a second. All of these functions are automatic and require no user
input.
Interference
This product has been designed to minimize interference by the use of digital – secure communication. In addition, the HeadOn system utilize NarrowBand RF connections to further reduce interference. Unlike BlueTooth headsets, the HeadOn is not susceptible to interference form Microwave ovens or
Wireless Networking devices found in laptops. Additionally, this product is immune to interference from standard 2.4GHZ cordless phones found in
households.
• If you experience sound degradation in areas such as airports, simply reposition the Dongle attachment on your
cellphone and keep it closer to you.
• If the connection is temporarily interrupted, simply reposition your head just a bit. This is due to reflections, which can
cause “Null”, or “Void” areas, even when you are near the other transceiver unit. This is normal in the world of Radio
Frequency, especially such low power devices as HeadOn and BlueTooth systems.
Connecting To The Cellphone
The Dongle portion of HeadOn can be mounted to the phone in a veriety of ways;
•
•
•
Simply allow it to “Dangle “ freely.
Use the enclosed 2-sided tape and mount the plate with the text “Tape” on it to your cellphone. Before mounting make sure that the position you
have chosen allows for the cord to reach the connector and that the flip type phones will open without pulling the connector out of the jack.
Use the plate, which has been designed for the belt-clip in the dongle so that it can be clipped onto your belt or pocket.
Removing Base Unit From Cellphone
The plates mounted ot the dongle can be removed by simply (AND GENTLY) pushing on the lever on the side of the plate and sliding the plate off in one
direction from the dongle.
Mounting the dongle to the plate is also simple. Just line up the fingers with the arrows on the plate and slide it closed. Or, line one sie and snap the other
side into position.
DO NOT FORCE.
Do not press the lever too far.
Proper Headset Placement
The headset should be inserted into the ear with the Microphone tube facing forward and angled down a nit. Rotate to best fit your ear.
Ear Gels
The HeadOn headset includes a variety of ear gels to fit most ears comfortably and easily. Choose the one best suited for you and slide it all the way onto
the sound tube.
The gels are hypo-Allergenic and will not generate an allergy response. Clean with soapy water.
Range
The range of this system depends on the surroundings and telephone. HeadOn is not designed for long range use. It is designed to eliminate wires to your
head, as well as remove the harmful radiation associated with cellphone use.
Auto Answer Function
If your cellphone supports Auto Answer in headset mode, the HeadOn will then allow you to not to have to puch any buttons when the phone rings. Refer
to your phone manual to see if your phone supports auto answer. If so, set the mode to ON and test by calling yourself. If the phone answers after a few
rings, you have successfully set-up this mode. Now, when your phone rings, the system will answer for you.
Answering By Saying HELLO “Talk-To-Answer”
This patent pending, exclusive feature of the HeadOn has been designed so that when the phone rings, you can simply connect by saying Hello. There are
some requirements for this to happen;
Your phone must be set so that the “Turbo Switch” or “Remote Answer Switch” is enabled. Phones, which do not support this function, will not
work with Talk-To-Answer function.
Your phone must make the headset Ring when there is an incoming call. Phones that do not generate a RING into the headset when plugged in will
not be compatible.
You must have the Auto Answer mode turned off. Not doing so may cause problems with functionality.
Voice Dialing With HeadOn
If your phone supports Voice Dial feature, HeadOn will allow you to continue to use it. Some phones may require that you record the voice dial command
using the headset.
Some phones, such as Sprint ™, will allow the HeadOn to make the choice for you. To test, follow these steps;
Wait 30 seconds before testing. During this time, do not touch any buttons on the phone. (The feature is available only once the HeadOn unit has
gone to sleep after 30 seconds of no sound).
Press END one time.
Say Hello in a loud, clear tone. HeadOn will not accept background noise and your command.
If the phone supports this feature, it will ask you to say the name you wish to dial.
Secure Connection
The connection between the HeadOn Headset and Dongle are digital and secure. Once the connection is established, even another HeadOn system cannot
listed in. Once the conversation is over and the system is asleep, the units will loose their “Lock” and will allow you to connect to another device with is
not yet connected in a conversation. This patent pending feature allows you to connect with many devices without having to program anything.
