Carton InventoryOverviewThe Intercom has up to a 1000' range and allowsmultiple simultaneous conversations, using a 900 Mhz secure digital radio link. The intercoms forman exclusive network and respond only to otherintercoms in the network.Intercom (2 in Model RWIS)1Rubber Pads (2 in Model RWIS)Operation & FeaturesChannel Button: Press the Channel button to setintercom to one of four securechannels or the paging channel.The default channel for the intercomis the paging channel where all fourchannel lights are lit. An intercom ona channel can only hear anintercom on the same channel or onthe paging channel.Volume: Pressing the Volumebutton repeatedly will cycle throughvolume levels.Battery: The AA Alkaline batteries (not provided) willlast up to a year depending on use (Lithium batteriesrecommended for colderenvironments). When batteries arelow intercom will emit two beepsevery ten minutes.An AC Adapter (not provided) canalso be used to power the intercom.In this case, both the power andchannel lights will remain on.Conference Mode: Conference Mode allows multipleintercoms to participate in a conversation comparedto Normal Mode in which only two intercoms cancommunicate. All intercoms must be set to the samechannel or the paging channel to be inConference Mode. To put intercom inConference Mode set Dipswitch #2 to UPposition.Monitor Mode: Monitor Mode is used to monitor thenoise in a specific room. Place the intercom in theroom that is to be monitored andpress and hold the Talk and Volumebuttons until a tone is heard. Anyother networked intercom can listento that room. If a specific channel isselected for Monitor Mode then onlyother intercoms on that channel oron the paging channel can listen.Voice Activation Mode (VOX): Voice ActivationMode (VOX) allows a call to be answered withoutpressing the Talk button. Once a call is heard on anintercom which has been set to VOX, a response canbe given by speaking loudly into the intercom. Therewill be a slight delay when VOX is first activated by avoice, but will continue to transmit audio untilthe speaking stops. To put intercom into VOX,place Dipswitch #1 to the UP position.On/Off: To turn intercom ON, press any button.Toturn intercom OFF, hold down the Volume button for 5 seconds.Talk Button: To talk, hold down theTalk button. All intercoms in thenetwork that are on the samechannel will receive the signal.Release the Talk button when donetalking and within 10-15 secondspress and hold the Talk button of adifferent intercom to make a secure channel betweenthe two. 2Assemble IntercomStep 1Step 2Install 4 AA Alkaline batteries (not provided). (Lithiumbatteries recommended for colder environments.)Programming IntercomAdhere rubber pads to bottom.Repeat Steps 1 and 2 for any additional intercoms.The intercom must be programmed to at least oneother intercom to become a network or it can beprogrammed into an existing network.Create New NetworkPress the Learn button on the new intercom until abeep is heard. Within 10 seconds put the secondintercom into Learn Mode (refer to the followingtable).Add to an Existing NetworkPress the Learn button on the new intercom until abeep is heard. Within 10 seconds put any networkedintercom into Learn Mode (refer to table below).Press and release the Talk button to verify network iscomplete.INTERCOM LEARN MODEPress the Learn button untila beep is heard.Press and hold both buttonsfor 5 seconds.OREach intercom will emit a tone when programmed intonetwork. Repeat for any additional intercoms.Each intercom will emit a tone when programmed intonetwork. Repeat for any additional intercoms.NOTE: Do not program new intercoms to each otherbefore adding them to the network or they will form aseparate network and the memory will need to becleared.INTERCOM LEARN MODEPress the Learn button untila beep is heard.Press and hold both buttonsfor 5 seconds.OR
Troubleshooting3Intercom does not function.Check batteries in intercom. If using an AC Adapterensure that it is plugged in.Ensure intercom is connected to a network. See Programming Intercom.Ensure that intercoms are on the same channel. SeeOperation & Features.Intercom is not getting expected transmissionrange.Keep antenna vertical. Keep intercom away fromtrees, metal objects and electrical wiring. Cell phones,cordless phones, or other radio devices may also limit range.Intercom beeps every ten minutes.The battery is low in the intercom. Replace with AAAlkaline batteries or operate it with AC Adapter (notprovided). A 9-12 volt, 500mA AC Adapter may beused (center positive polarity on the round plug).Need to clear intercom’s memory.Press and hold Learn button, an initial beep will beheard. Continue to hold until a second beep is heard(about 15 seconds). Ensure other intercoms are notactivated during this time. Intercoms in the network thatare on will signal during the clearing process. Oncememory is clear the intercom can be programmed to anew network.Static and feedback is heard in intercom.The intercoms are too close to each other. A cordlessphone, cell phone, or other radio devices can also cause static.Intercom is sending audio while no buttons arepressed.The sending intercom is set to Monitoring Mode or VoiceActivation Mode and will activate when sound is heard.It can be taken out of Monitoring Mode by pressing theTalk button. It can be taken out of Voice Activation Modeby setting Dipswitch #1 to DOWN position.See Operation & Features.
