Ruin Collector Features
Collector “PO" Casing
The Collector pper Cosmg encloses the
sensor/battery compartment component
and seals the collection tipping bucket from
wind and non-motored rciin drops. To
remove upper casing from lower casing,
press inward on side tabs and lift up
carefully.
Roin Collection Tipping Buckot
The Rain Collection lpping Bucket collects
o metered amount of rain and ti s to
automatically empty (self-emptying),
allowing for continuous ruin measurement.
Buttery l Electronics Box
The Battery Compartment & Electronics Box
component of the rain collector clicks into
place and oncosss the batteries and other
electronics components. To remove this
com orient, squeeze the two tubs and
ant y slide the box out. Toke coro thot the
ox is re—instolled in the correct manner
and that it clicks back into place securely to
prevent water intrusion.

Collector Lowor Casing Dan
The Collector Lower Casing Bose supports
the entire roin gauge and also serves as a
mounting base. It is very important that the
boss be placed on o flot, level surface for
proper operation.
INSTALLATION NOTE:
THE COLLECTOR MUST BE PLACED AT LEAST 3 FEET ABOVE THE
GROUND FOR OPTIMAL WIRELESS COMMUNICATION.
Now that setup is complete, you_ must choose cl location to place the
Wireless roin collector and the displo console. The Wireless ruin
collector MUST be placed loss than (65 foot (50 meters) away from
the display console.
This wireless roirl ougo uses radio frequency for communication,
which is susceptib e to interference from other electronic-devtces and
large metallic items or thick wolls. Always place both units otl ost 3

Place the display console in a dry area free of dirt and dust. You may
place the displciy console on 0 table top or other flat surface.
Plocomont of Ruin Collector
The wireless rain collector MUST BE PLACED OUTDOORS to record
rain measurements and relay the information to the display console.
The wireless roin collector must be placed less than lo feet (50
meters) away from the disploy console and MUST be placed on 0
flat, level surface to allow for re or rain measurement. The collector
MUST BE PLACED AT LEAST FE ABOVE THE GROUND for
o Iimol wireless communication. Make certain the rain collector is not

Rain Gauge
model 00875TX
The Acurite® roin gauge with self emptying wireless roin collector
measures rainfall and sends the data via wireless signal to the
display console. This roin gouge has been designed to be easy to
install and use.
The sleek display console houses a liquid crystal display (LCD)
which will calculate and display all the roinfclll data received from
the wireless collector outside. The display console features built in
memory for record storage, as well as special features such as 0
rain alarm that will alert you when rainfall is recorded. The
Disploy Console is powered with three ”AA” alkaline batteries
(not included).
The wireless self emptying roin collector is completely wireless and
contains a mechanical tipping bucket for measuring rainfall. The
wireless outdoor collector is powered with two ”AA” alkaline or
lithium batteries (not included).
Please read through this manual to learn more about the Acurito®
Professional Weather Center. Keep this manual for future

Surface Mounting of Ruin Collector
It is recommended that the rain collector be mounted to a solid level
surface with limited gross growth such as o deck roilin or similar
surface. To mount the rain collector, first separate the Power cosin
boss from the upper casing. Next locate the two holes within the Tower
casing bose. Than, using only hand tools (power tools may slip durin
use, possibly domagin sensitive roin collector components), secure t a
lower cosing boss to t a chosen surface using the appropriate
hardware.

Cure Instructions for Ruin Collector
Dohris and Foreign Mottor
The Wireless Roin ollector was designed with materials suitable for
outdoor use. However, certain environmental conditions mo require
periodic cleaning of the collector components. If the funnel ecomes
extremely dirty, rain water may not flow correctly into the rain
collector. More extensive clearing out and cleaning of the funnel and
other components may be required in these cases. t is recommended
that the funnel be checked and cleaned periodically to ensure proper
operation of the rain gouge system.
Vlintor Climates
The Wireless Ruin Collector is designed to collect and record liquid
rciinfoll onl , it will not detect or record snowfall levels. It is
recommen ed that the min collector be brought indoors if you live in
on organ that has extreme cold weather, ice and snow during the winter

Set Time & Date
This wireless ruin gouge is equipped with a history function and alarms,
which rely on accurate data settings to function properly. It is very
importont that you set the dots and time before placing the collector
outside to record roinfoll amounts.
To set the time, dots, and units ress and hold the "SET” button to enter
into setting mode. NOTE the " T" icon and the flushing hour indicates
you are in setting mode.
Press the "+" button to odvonce the currently selected (flushing) value
(press and hold the ”+" button for FAST setting).
Press the "SET" button again to confirm your udiustment and move on to
setting the next value.
The set order is as follows:

there are a low number of ”bars” present,
you may experience no communication (
lashing tower) or inaccuracy. In either
case, you may need to relocate one or

are present, wireless reception is good and
no action is required.

Prassingvthe ”MODE” button changes the rain omount display
mode. hile in the selected mode the history and clear buttons
refer to the currently selected mode only.
"Evont" Mock:
The Event display mode shows the current or most recent roin event
totol. Events are eriods of rain associated with 0 weather system.
Events may be a rief drizzle, or a multi—doy storm. The rain event
ends when no roinfoll has been recorded for at least 8 hours. After
that, any new roinfoll will be automatically recorded as the next
newest event.
Calendar Display Modes:
I DAY= One calendar day rain total
WEEK= 1 calendar week rain total (wsok= SUN through SAT)
TOTAL A= All-time roin totcil A (clear to re—set counter)
TOTAL B= All-time rain total B (clear to re-set counter)

Pushing the "FLOOD WATCH” button activates the flood watch alarm.
The alarm will sound if the display console receives ruin data that would
indicate any of the flood and saturation conditions, as listed below:
> 3” in the lost 7 do 3 and then >0.7” in the lost two hours or >l” in the lost 24 hours
> 2.3” in the lost 4 oys and than >0.7” in the last two hours or >I” in the lost 24 hours
> 1.5” in the lost 2 days and than >0.7” in the lost two hours or >'I" in the lost 24 hours
> 1.4” in the lost two hours
> 1.6” in the last at lit hours
> 1.8” in the lost 21? liaiirs
If these conditions occur, the alarm will sound for one minute or until ony
button is pushed, silencing the alarm. If no buttons are pushed, the
audible ulorm tone will stop soundin after one minute, but the display
icon will continue to flash and the WI sound three tones on the hour for
the next 8 hours.
If no buttons ore pressed to silence the flood alarm, the flood olcirm
feature will automatically be active at the start of the next event.
NOTE: The display console will actively monitor the rain and saturation
conditions, even when the flood alarm is off. If the flood alarm is
activated, and the audible alert sounds immediately, the conditions for
flooding to be possible have already taken place.
0 Rain Alarm
Pushing the ”RAIN ALARM" button activates the rain alarm. The rain
ulorm will sound if the display console receives any ruin data.
The alarm will sound for up to o 1 minute or until any button is ushed,
silencing the alarm. If no buttons are pushed the alarm tone wil stop
sounding but the display icon will continue to flash for up to 30 minutes.
If no buttons are pressed to silence the alarm, the unit will automatically
be reset to come on at the start of the next event.

CALIBRATION
To test the unit, slowly drip 8 oz. (236.588ml) of water through the
collector funnel. For est results the water should drip through the
unit of u very slow rate, similar to how the rain folls. Poking o in
hole in a small container or cup works well to simulate rain fol . The
display should read 2.20 inches

0 History Mode
Press g the "HISTORY" button will enter into history mode for the
current selected DISPLAY MODE. Each additional time you press the
history button, you will step backward in time and see the historical
roinfo l amounts and the time/dole they were recorded. If there is no
button activity within 0 30 second period, the display will return to
current display mode.

EVENT MODE: Pressing the ”HISTORY" button while in EVENT mode

”H STORY” button push. The display will show the time/date of each

the ”CLEAR" button. Cleoring any data from the EVE mode will not
affect any of the CALENDAR based rain totals.

TOTAL A/B MODE: Pressing the "HISTORY" button while in TOTAL A/B
mode simply disploys the total A/B storl time/dole. These two modes
are similar to 0 cars trip odometer, it koe s counting up until you clear
and reset it. To reset the TOTAL A or T0 Al B counters, press and hold
the "CLEAR" button while the total is being displayed.
