The interference would be caused by this product to an aircraft's navigation system
and its network. In most countries, using this product on board an airplane is
against the law.
SAFETY FOR ENVIRONMENTS
Do not use this product in gas stations. Also the use of this product is prohibited
in fuel storehouse, chemical plants and locations containing explosives.
SAFETY ON THE ROAD
Vehicle drivers in motion are not permitted to use telephony services with the
handheld device, except in the case of emergency. In some countries, using handfree devices as an alternative is allowed.
SAFETY ABOUT RADIATION
This product should be operated in the suggested normal condition only to ensure
the radiative performance and safety of the interference.
SAFETY FOR MEDICAL EQUIPMENTS
This product may cause malfunctions of medical equipments. In most hospital or
medical centers, use of this product is forbidden.

There are no user serviceable parts inside this product. If this product appears to be
broken, call a qualified service personnel or send this product to your original dealer.

Tips When Using
• Avoid using the product near metal structures (for example, large metal furniture or steel frames of a
building). The transmission and reception of signal can be effected by these objects.
• Avoid using the product near strong electromagnetic sources, such as microwave ovens, sound
speakers, TV and radio.
• Avoid using the product right after dramatic change of temperature.
RF exposure Statement
Tests for SAR are conducted using standard operating positions specified by the FCC with the phone
transmitting at its highest certified power level in all tested frequency bands. Although the SAR is
determined at the highest certified power level, the actual SAR level of the phone while operation can
be well below the maximum value. This is because the phone is designed to operate at multiple power
levels so as to use only the power required to reach the network. In general, the closer you are to a
wireless base station antenna, the lower the power output.
Before a phone model is available for sale to the public, it must be tested and certified to the FCC that
it does not exceed the limit established by the government-adopted requirement for safe exposure. The
tests are performed in positions and locations (e.g., at the ear and worn on the body) as required by
the FCC for each model. (Body-worn measurements may differ among phone models, depending
upon available accessories and FCC requirements). While there may be differences between the SAR
levels of various phones and at various positions, they all meet the government requirement for safe
exposure.
For body worn operation, to maintain compliance with FCC RF exposure guidelines, use only accessories that contain no metallic components and provide a separation distance of 1.5cm (0.6 inches) to
the body. Use of other accessories may violate FCC RF exposure guidelines and should be avoided.

Installing SIM card
What is a SIM card?
The SIM (Subscriber Identification Module) card is a small plastic card with metal contact
on it. You get this card after you subscribe to your operator. Your personal subscriber information is stored in the SIM card and you need to use this card in the phone to make/receive
calls and access services provided by your operator.
• Turn the phone face down.
• Open the back cover.
• Slide the SIM card into the SIM card socket.

Pay special attention to the SIM card when you install. The metal contacts can be damaged
easily by scratches.

Installing and charging the battery
Place the top end of the battery on the back of the phone, then
push the bottom end into the phone until you hear a click.

Insert the battery charger connector into the
battery charging socket located at the bottom of
the phone, and then plug into the electric
power outlet.
Note
• Charge the new battery before first time use. When the battery is being charged, the service light becomes red, the bars of the charging status icon on phone screen scrolls. When
charging is completed, the bars will stop scrolling.
• You can use the phone while charging, however, it will take longer to charge the battery.
• For future use of the battery, it takes approximately 3 hours to complete the recharging
process.
• When battery power is low, low battery message will appear on the screen. Charge the
battery immediately. If battery power runs out, the power of phone will be turned off
automatically.

Long press the power key located on the top of the phone.

Note
In this manual, "long press" a key means "press and hold the key for at least 2 seconds and then
release it", while "press" a key means "press the key and release it immediately".
A welcome screen appears and you probably will be asked to enter your PIN
code. Enter the PIN code and press OK. If you accidentally typed a wrong
number, press Clear to erase it.
Note
If you entered the wrong PIN code 3 times in a row, your SIM card will be blocked. Contact
your operator to unblock it.

the PIN code you entered.
Note
For convenience of operation, your phone is equipped with two soft keys. You can press a
softkey to execute the function that is indicated on the screen. In this manual, “press OK”
refers to “press the softkey under OK that is displayed on the screen”.
After the PIN code is verified, you will be prompted to enter current time and
date. Enter the information and press OK.
The phone will start searching for the network to use. If network is available,
the operator name, signal strength and some other icons will appear on the
screen (see "Icons on the screen"on page 11 for details). This is called the
standby mode of the phone.

Enter the number you want to dial (including the area code) and press
key. If the phone number you entered is wrong, press Clear to erase a wrong
number, or press and hold Clear to clear a whole line.

The alphanumeric keys on the phone can be used to enter numbers and letters.
To enter phone numbers, press corresponding number keys directly. To enter
letters, please see "Entering Latin characters and words"on page 26 for details.
Service light
There is a service light on your phone. Please refer to the table below for the
type of flash, color and their meanings(You can change the color of the service
light, please see "Service light"on page 89 for details).

Turning on the phone
When phone power is off, long press the power key to switch it on.
If the PIN code protection function has been activated, you will be asked to
enter your PIN code. Enter the code and press OK. You can also choose to
turn off PIN code protection. Please see "Activating/deactivating PIN code"on
page 85 for details.
A welcome screen will appear and the phone will start searching for its home
network automatically. If the network is found, the operator and phone profile name, battery level icon and signal strength icon (and other icons if available) will appear on the screen.
Now the phone enters its standby mode. In this mode, you can:
• Press the right soft key to enter Phone Book.
• Press the left soft key to access Main Menu.
• Press Up or Down to browse your Phone Book records.
• Press Left to view missed call records.
• Press Right to view answered call records.
• Long press
key to access your voicemail box.
• Long press
key to access Silence mode.

Turning off the phone
When phone power is on, long press the power key to switch it off.
Making a call
In standby mode, you can make an outgoing call in the following ways:
• Enter phone number using alphanumeric keys and press

• Enter a Latin character using alphanumeric keys. When entering, your
phone will look up possible corresponding entries in the phone book automatically and display them on the screen. Press Up or Down to scroll to a
desired entry and press
key(To use this function, you have to activate
dialing number lookup function first. Please see "Looking up a dialing number"on page 42 for details).

Making an
international call
To make an international call:
1. Long press
key to insert a + (international dialing prefix).
2. Enter the recipient’s country code and area code (omit the starting 0).
3. Enter the recipient’s phone number.
During a call, the call time counter will appear on the screen, letting you know
the time you spent on the call.

Making an emergency call
Press
(or any other emergency number specified by your
operator) and then
key. Depending on your operator, the emergency call
can be made even when there is no SIM card in the phone.
Note
If the home network is not found(the signal strength icon appears on the screen with no
bars), you can only make emergency call.
Answering a call
Your phone rings or vibrates (or remains silent, according to the setting of
sound profile) when an incoming call is received. Meanwhile, the caller’s name
(if the caller’s name can be found in your Phone Book) or number will appear
on the screen. Otherwise, “Unknown” will appear instead. You can:
• Press
key (or any key on the phone except
key, if the Anykey
answer function has been turned on) to answer the call.
• Press
key to reject the call.
If you have another new incoming call when you are already on a call, new
incoming call message will appear on the screen. Press
key to put the current call on hold and answer the new call. Press
key to end the new call
and you will be connected to the old call automatically. Press Hold to put the
new call on hold.
Note
Holding a call needs support form your operator, and you have to activate the call waiting
function(See "Call waiting"on page 67 for details).

Ending a call
Press
key to end a call. Depending on your setup in Session information
(see "Session information"on page 65 for details), the session information may
appear on the screen.
Missed call message
If you have missed calls, “Missed call” message and the number of missed calls
will appear on the screen. You can press Detail to view detailed missed call
records, or Exit to clear the screen and return to standby mode.
Adjusting earpiece volume
During a phone call, press the volume adjustment key to increase/decrease earpiece volume.
Selecting sound profile
1. Press the power key in standby mode. The sound profiles menu will appear
on the screen.
2. Scroll to desired profile and press Select.
You can also customize these profiles. See "Customizing a sound profile"on
page 75 for details.
Options during a call
During a call, you have the choice to access several in-call options.
To access these options:
1. Press Options during a call.
2. Scroll to a desired item in the In Call Option menu that appears.
3. Press Select to select it.

These options during a call need support from your operator. Please consult your operator
for availability.
Making a new call

To make a new call during a call:
1. Scroll to Dial new call in the In-call Option menu and press Select.
2. Enter the phone number of the second call and press
key.
Answering a new incoming call
If you have a new incoming call when you are already on a call, new incoming
call message will appear on the screen. Press
key to put current call on
hold and answer the new call. Press
key to end (or reject) the new incoming call and you will be connected to the old call automatically.
Holding/unholding a call
If you have multiple calls in progress, you can use this function to hold one of
the calls.
To hold a call:
1. Scroll to Hold in the In-call Option menu and press Select.
2. Select the call you want to hold in the menu that appears.
3. Press Select.
To unhold calls:
1. Scroll to Unhold in the In-call Option menu and press Select.
2. Select the call you want to unhold in the menu that appears.
3. Press Select.
Switching calls
If you have two active calls, you can use this function to switch between them.
To switch calls, scroll to Switch in the In-call Option menu and press Select.
Transferring a call
If you have two active calls, you can use this function to transfer the current
call to another call on hold.
To transfer a call, scroll to Transfer in the In-call Option menu and press
Select.
Conference call

If you have multiple active calls, you can use this function to connect all calling
parties so that they can talk to each other at the same time.
To establish a conference call, scroll to Conference in the In-call Option menu
and press Select.
Private call on a conference call
When a conference call is in progress, you can use this function to talk to one
of the call parties privately.
To use this function:
1. On a conference call, scroll to Private in the In-call Option menu and press
Select.
2. Scroll to a calling party you want to talk to privately and press Select.
3. To return to the conference call, scroll to Conference in the In-call Option
menu and press Select.
Transmitting DTMF tones
This feature allows you to send DTMF tones during a call. For example, when
you are asked to enter your bank account number during a telephone banking
service call.
To transmit DTMF tones:
1. Scroll to Send DTMF in the In-call Option menu and press Select.
2. Enter the number you are asked to.
Ending calls
This feature allows you to end current call or end one of the calls on progress
on a multi-party call.
To end current call:
Scroll to End calls in the In-call Option menu and press Select.
• To end one call on a multi-party call, scroll to the call party you want to end
and press Select.
• To end all calls, scroll to All calls and press Select.
Consulting Phone Book

During a call, you can use this function to consult names and numbers in the
Phone Book. For details about Phone Book, please refer to "Phone Book"on
page 30.
To consult Phone Book during a call:
1. Scroll to Phone book in the In-call Option menu and press Select.
2. You will enter the Phone Book menu. You can search for a name and number or add a new number..., etc.
Accessing Main Menu
During a call, you can use this function to access the Main Menu. For details
about Main Menu, please refer to "The Main Menu"on page 43.
To access Main Menu during a call:
1. Scroll to Main menu in the In-call Option menu and press Select.
2. The Main Menu will appear on the screen.
Muting/unmuting the microphone
If you don’t want the calling party to hear your voice, you can use this function to mute the microphone.
• To mute the microphone during a call:
Scroll to Mute in the In-call Option menu and press Select.
• To unmute the microphone:
Scroll to Unmute in the In Call Option menu and press Select.
Listening to your voice mail
When a new voice mail is received, the icon
appears on the screen. To listen to the new voice mail, long press
key in standby mode and connect
to your voice mailbox.
Depending on your operator, you may need to configure your voice mailbox
before you can use this function. Please refer to "Configuring voice mailbox
number"on page 59 for how to setup your voice mailbox.
Reading messages
When a new message is received, new message alert will be generated
(depending on your sound profile setting) and the new message prompt will
appear on the screen.

1. Press Detail to go to the list of received messages.
2. Scroll to the message you want to read and press Select.
Reading multimedia messages
When a new multimedia message is received, new message alert will be generated (depending on your sound profile setting) and the “New MMS” prompt
and an icon
will appear on the screen.
To read the new message:
1. Press Detail to go to the list of received messages.
2. Scroll to the message you want to read and press Select.
You can turn on the Auto fetch function if you want your phone to retrieve
the multimedia message immediately. If you select Ask me, a notice will be
sent to the Inbox first(See "Retrieving messages automatically"on page 54).
To read the new multimedia message:
1. Press the left soft key two times in standby mode.
2. Scroll to Multimedia msgs. and press Select.
3. Scroll to Inbox and press Select.
4. Scroll to a message with an icon
, press Select for the following
options:
• Fetch this msg.: Fetch the message immediately.
• Erase: Erase the message immediately without fetching it.
• Detail info.: View the title, sender’s number and memory size of this message.
Note
• If a multimedia message is received during a call, you still have to enter the Inbox and fetch
this message manually after the phone call is end even if you have turned on the Auto fetch
function.
• A maximum of 30KB is allowed for each received multimedia message. The message can not
be fetched by your phone if its memory size is over 30KB.
• If there is any inserted multimedia objects in a received multimedia message that can not be
displayed by your phone, the names of the inserted objects will be shown on the screen.

Receiving business card
When a new business card is received, new business card alert will be generated (depending on your sound profile setting) and the “Business card”
prompt will appear on the screen.
To read the new business card:
1. Press Detail to go to the list of received business cards.
2. Scroll to the business card you want to read, press Select for the following
options:
• Scroll to View and press Select to view the business card.
• Scroll to Save and press Select to save the new business card as a Phone
Book entry.
• Scroll to Discard and press Select to abort this business card without saving.
You can also edit and send your own business card(See "Your own business
card"on page 39) or send Phone Book entry to another person as business
card(See "Sending an entry as business card"on page 33).
Downloading operator logo
Operator logo download is an extra service. You can replace the operator
name shown on the screen with the new logo. When the operator logo is
received, “New operator logo” prompt will appear on the screen and your
phone alert will also be generated (depending on your sound profile setting).
Press Detail to access the following options:
• Scroll to Show and press Select to view the operator logo.
• Press Save to replace the old logo with the new one.
• Scroll to Discard and Select to abort this logo without saving.
Downloading ring tone
Ring tone download is an extra service. When the ring tone is received, “New
ringtone” prompt will appear on the screen and your phone alert will also be
generated (depending on your sound profile setting). Press Detail to access
the following options:
• Scroll to a desired ringtone and press Select.
• Scroll to Play and press Select to play the ring tone.
• Scroll to Save and press Select to save as a profile.
• Scroll to Discard and press Select to abort this ring tone without saving.

Entering Text
The phone provides several input methods that enable you to enter text in
Phone Book, write a message..., etc. You can also switch among these input
methods easily.
When you add a new entry to your Phone Book (see "Adding a Phone Book
entry"on page 31) or write a new message (see "Writing and sending new
messages"on page 45), the following text editor screen appears:

2. Press a key and the corresponding letters will appear in a bar on the lower
part of the screen.
3. Press the key several times to highlight the desired letter (or number) and it
will be entered when the bar disappears. You can also proceed to enter the
next letter when the desired letter (or number) is highlighted. The remaining number of letters you can enter is shown on the upper right corner of
the screen.
Long press

Entering text using T9 English input method
The T9 English input method is able to detect your key presses and combine
them into possible words automatically for you to select. This can dramatically
reduce the time you need to select correct characters and words using conventional input method.
To use T9 English input method:
1. Select T9 English in the input mode selection menu.
2. Type the word you want to enter using the keypad. For example, if you
want to enter the word "phone", press
3. If the word that appears on the screen is not the desired one, press Up or
Down to scroll to the word you want.
4. To enter the word and add a space after the word, press
Long press
key to switch between upper and lower cases.
Entering numbers
1. Select 123 in the input mode selection menu.
2. Enter numbers using the alphanumeric keys.

Erasing text
If you have entered a wrong character or number, press Clear to erase. Long
press Clear will clear a whole line.

Adding a Phone Book entry
You can add a new entry to Phone Book in the following ways:

Searching for a Phone Book entry
To search for a Phone Book entry:
1. In standby mode, press the right soft key to enter the Phone Book.

3. Enter the name of the Phone Book entry you want to look for. You can also
enter only the beginning few letters of the name.
4. Press OK, The entries that match the name (or contain the letters) you

Adding new phone number to existing entries
You can store up to four different phone numbers under a Phone Book entry
that is stored in the phone memory(See "Selecting Phone Book memory"on
page 41).
1. Scroll to a Phone Book entry.
2. Press Detail.
3. Scroll to the name (or number) and press Options.
4. Scroll to Add number and press Select.
5. Enter the new number and when finished, press OK.
6. You will be prompted to select a type for the new number. Scroll to an
appropriate type and press Select.
Adding notes to existing entries

You can add four types of notes to a Phone Book entry that is stores in the
phone memory.
1. Scroll to a Phone Book entry.
2. Press Detail.
3. Scroll to the name (or number) and press Options.
4. Scroll to Add text and press Select:
• Note: Enter notes.
• E-mail: Enter e-mail addresses.
• Postal address: Enter postal addresses.
• Web address: Enter the web addresses.
5. Scroll to a desired type and press Select.
6. Enter the text and press OK when finished.
Changing caller group
The Caller group function allows you to separate your Phone Book entries in
different groups. For details about the Caller group function, please refer to
"Setting up Caller Group"on page 37.
1. Scroll to a Phone Book entry.
2. Press Detail.
3. Scroll to the name (or number) and press Options.
4. Scroll to Change group and press Select.
5. Scroll to a desired caller group and press Select.
Sending an entry as business card
With this function, you can send the details of a Phone Book entry to another
person as a business card. If the recipient’s phone supports business card format, it can be saved as a new Phone Book entry.
1. Scroll to a Phone Book entry.
2. Press Detail.
3. Scroll to the name (or number) and press Options.
4. Scroll to Send business card and press Select.
5. If the entry you selected has more than one phone number, scroll to one of
the followings and press Select:
Send default number: Allows you to send the default number of the entry to
another person.
Send details: Allows you to send all phone numbers of the entry to another
person.
6. If you want to send the business card as a new message immediately, scroll
to Send as SMS and press Select. Enter the number of the recipient (or pick

up a recipient from Phone Book by pressing Names) and press Send. If you
are not sure whether the recipient's phone supports business card format,
scroll to Send as text and press Select. You can edit the contents before
sending it.
If you added notes to a Phone Book entry, only e-mail address will be attached
when you send the entry as a business card.
Assigning default phone number
If you have multiple phone numbers in a Phone Book entry, you can assign
one of these numbers as default number. This default number is dialed when
you make a call from the Phone Book or using the Speed Dial function.
1. Scroll to a Phone Book entry.
2. Press Detail.
3. Scroll to the number you want to set as default and press Options.
4. Scroll to Set as default and press Select.
Changing the type of number
1. Scroll to a Phone Book entry.
2. Press Detail.
3. Scroll to the number and press Options.
4. Scroll to Change type and press Select.
5. Scroll to a desired type for the number and press Select.
Sending messages from Phone Book
To send a new message from Phone Book:
1. Scroll to a Phone Book entry.
2. Press Detail.
3. Scroll to the number and press Options.
4. Scroll to Send message and press Select.
5. Compose the message. When finished, press Options and then Select to
send the message.

To erase Phone Book entries one by one:
1. Scroll to One by one and press Select.
2. Scroll to select the Phone Book entry you want to erase and press OK.

To erase all Phone Book entries:
1. Scroll to All.
2. To delete all Phone Book entries stored in phone memory, scroll to Phone.
To delete entries on the SIM card, scroll to SIM.
3. Press Select, and then press OK.
4. Enter your phone code and press OK. For more information about phone
code, see "Phone security settings"on page 84.
Method 2
1. In Phone Book, scroll to the entry you want to erase and press Detail.
2. Scroll to the name (or number) and press Options.
3. Scroll to Erase and press Select, OK.
Copying Phone Book entry
With the copy function, you can copy (or moving) Phone Book entries in the
phone memory to SIM card memory and vise versa. Please note that if you
copy a Phone Book entry with multiple numbers from phone memory to SIM
card, only the first (default) number will remain.
Method 1
1. Enter Phone Book by pressing the right soft key in standby mode.
2. Scroll to Copy and press Select.
To copy Phone Book entries from phone to SIM card:
• Press Select. You can choose to copy Phone Book entries one by one or all
at once.
• Select Keep original (copy the Phone Book entry to a new location) or
Move original (move the Phone Book entry to a new location).
To copy Phone Book entries from SIM card to phone:
• Scroll to SIM to phone and press Select. You can choose to copy Phone
Book entries one by one or all at once.

memory and vise versa), scroll to Keep original. To move the entry to

Setting up Speed Dial
Speed Dial is a shortcut that allows you to make a call simply by long pressing
alphanumeric keys
. To use this function, you have to activate
speed dialing function(please see "Speed dialing"on page 71 for details).
To set up speed dial:

Setting up Caller Group
You can place your Phone Book entries under different Caller Groups and
give each Caller Group different ringtone, backlight and screen graphic. When
you have an incoming call, you can judge the caller by its specific Caller
Group.
Note
• For using the Caller Group function, you have to set up Incoming call alert as Group in the
Sound profiles and select a corresponding caller group(Please see "Customizing a sound profile"on page 75).

The options in the Message menu allow you to write, send and receive messages and setup message settings.

Before you can use Message functions, make sure that related message settings are configured
properly. (Depending on your operator, the settings may have already been programmed on
the SIM card). Refer to "Message settings"on page 53 for details.
Writing and sending new messages
You can write and send text messages. Your phone supports EMS (Enhanced
Messaging Service) standard which allows you to insert picture, sound, animation and melodies..., etc. in a message.
Note
The recipient’s phone must also support EMS functionality to receive and view your EMS messages.
To write a new message:
1. In standby mode, press the left soft key, Select.
2. Press Select two times.
3. Enter the contents of the message. When writing, you can press Options to
access the options below:
• Send: Send the message immediately. If this option is selected, you will be
prompted to enter the number of the recipients. You can also pick up recipients from your Phone Book by pressing Names.
The message can be sent to one recipient and copy to up to 9 recipients.
• Save: Save the message as a draft in Outbox. You have to enter the recipient’s phone number before you save.
• Insert template: Insert preset messages template. You can also customize
your own templates. Please refer to "Customizing preset message templates"on page 48 for how to customize message templates.
• Insert picture: Insert a picture into the message. You can also draw your
own picture. For details, refer to "My Picture"on page 90.
• Insert animation: Insert an animation into the message.
• Insert sound: Insert sound effect into the message. The icon
will
appear on the screen.

the status of the message.

Templates are frequently used phrases preset in phone memory. When writing
a message, you can insert them into your message directly. You can also customize your own templates.

4. Scroll to an empty template and press Select.
5. Scroll to Edit template and press Select.
6. Write the contents of the template. When done, press Save.

You can write and send multimedia messages. Your phone supports MMS
(Multimedia Messaging Service) standard which allows you to insert color
picture, sound, animation and melodies..., etc. in a message and to send the
message to an e-mail address.

• You have to subscribe to your operator for the Multimedia msgs. service. Please consult your
operator for more information.
• The recipient’s phone must also support MMS functionality to receive and view your MMS
messages.

• Delete page: Delete current page.
• Go to...: Move to one of the pages you are writing.
• Preview: Preview the message you are writing. All inserted objects(including picture, animation, sound...etc.) will be displayed.
• Remove object: Remove the inserted multimedia objects of the message.
• View object: View all inserted multimedia objects of the message.
• Set title: Set a title for the multimedia message. The title will appear when
the message is received by recipient.
• Detail info.: View the title, recipients, memory of the message.

• Each multimedia message size can not be over 30KB.
• Each page of the multimedia message allows a maximum of 1,000 Latin characters or Chinese characters(including space and symbols).
• You can add up to 5 pages into a multimedia message.
• Your phone support the following multimedia objects formats:
Picture: JPEG, GIF87,GIF89, BMP, WBMP, PNG.
Sound: iMelody, MIDI, SP-MIDI, AMR.
• Each page can only be inserted one picture and one sound if the memory is available.
• The number of recipients of each message can be up to 10 persons.
Viewing unsent multimedia messages
The drafts of multimedia messages are automatically stored in the Outbox. To
open the Outbox and check these messages:
1. In standby mode, press the left soft key, Select.
2. Scroll to Multimedia msgs. and press Select.
3. Scroll to Outbox and press Select. A list of multimedia message drafts with
the icon
in front of them will appear on the screen.
4. Scroll to a message and press Select. The message will be opened.

Chatroom
The Chatroom function allows you to chat on-line with multiple members via
text messages. In a chat session, you can invite up to 4 members to your chatroom and talk to each other simultaneously.
If someone else invites you to join his/her chatroom, you will be notified by a
chat message. Press OK to join the chat.
Accepting an invitation to join a chatroom
If someone else invites you to join his/her chatroom, you will be notified by a
chat message.
1. Press Detail, Select to enter the chatroom.
2. Press Options, scroll to Open chatroom, press Select, press OK.
3. Enter your nickname and press OK.
4. Enter your message and press Options, Select. On the screen, your chat
messages follows the ">" symbol and your nickname, and the chat messages from other chat members follow the "<" symbol and their nicknames.

• Send: Send the message you entered.
• Insert template: Insert message templates into your chat message. You can
also customize your own message templates. See "Customizing message

• Nickname: change your nickname during a chat session. Enter your new
nickname and press OK.
• Chat numbers: Invite new members to your chatroom. Enter the number of
chat member, or pick a member from your Phone Book by pressing Names.
• View history: View the history of current chat session.

Configuring text message setting profiles
The message settings can be configured in different profiles. Usually the profiles are provided by your operator and have been programmed on the SIM
card. If your SIM card does not contain such profile, you need to set up a profile in your phone. Please consult your operator for details.

The chat members you invited will receive a message from you. If they accept
your invitation, their nicknames will appear on your screen.

">" and your nickname.

is stored in the message center if it can not be successfully received by the
recipient. Press Left or Right to select a duration.

You can configure the following multimedia message services.
Retrieving messages automatically
If other people send you a multimedia message, you will receive a notice first
and the message will be stored in your operator’s server temporarily. With this
function, you can decide to retrieve the multimedia message automatically or
not while receiving the new multimedia message notice.

With this function, you can decide to retrieve the multimedia messages immediately or not while you are roaming.
1. In standby mode, press the left soft key, Select.

4. Scroll to While roaming and press Select, you can select the following functions by pressing OK.
• Immediate retrieval: Retrieve the multimedia messages immediately from

Connection settings
The connection settings must be configured before you can use the multimedia message services. The profiles will be provided after you subscribe the
