3 INITIAL SET-UP Note: Before using your cordless telephone, unit must be charged for at least 12 hours. TONE / PULSE (P/T) MODE: A. If your home is equipped with a Tone dialing system, set the Tone/Pulse select switch to the Tone position. B. If you have a rotary dialing system, set the Tone/Pulse select switch to Pulse position. C. If you are unsure which system you have, set the Tone/Pulse select switch to the Tone position. Press the TALK button on the Handset to get a dial tone, and press any key on the keypad except zero. If the dial tone continues, it means that you do not have Touchtone dialing service. Press the TALK button on the Handset to hang up. Set the Tone/Pulse select switch to the Pulse mode and then try again. SETTING THE HANDSET RINGER ON/OFF The Handset ringer must be set to “RING HI ” position in order to receive an incoming calls. See Functions Operation section on page 11. TELEPHONE OPERATION: TO RECEIVE A CALL: To receive a call, Handset must be programmed to “RING HI ” position. See Functions Operation section on page 11. A. HANDSET ON THE BASE UNIT. 1. Since the unit is “Auto Answer” simply pick up the Handset from the Base cradle when the phone rings. 2. Start your conversation. The LCD display will show the call timer counting. 3. To amplify in-coming sound, press the AMP button slide the Volume control to suit your hearing. 4. Slide the Tone Control switch up/down to attain optimum word clarity. 5. To end your conversation either press the TALK button or place the Handset back on the Base unit. The unit “Automatic Standby” feature is activated. B. HANDSET IS OUT OF THE BASE: 1. When the phone rings, press the TALK button on the Handset , simultaneously the In Use LED indicator will light up. 2. Start your conversation. The LCD display will show the call timer counting. 3. To amplify in-coming sound, press the AMP button, slide the volume control to suit your hearing. 4. Slide the Tone Control switch up or down to attain optimum word clarity. 5. To end your conversation, either press the TALK button or place the Handset back on the Base unit. The unit “Automatic Standby” feature is activated. PLACING CALLS: A. USING THE HANDSET UNIT: 1. Dial the telephone number you want to call. 2. Press the TALK button, then start conversation. 3. To end the conversation, press the TALK button or place the Handset back on the Base unit. LAST NUMBER REDIAL: If you get busy tone, use the REDIAL function to automatically dial the last telephone number you called.
4A. REDIAL USING THE HANDSET: 1. Lift the Handset and press the TALK button. 2. Listen for a dial tone. 3. Press the RE/PA button to automatically dial the last telephone number you called using the Handset. STORING NAME AND TELEPHONE NUMBER IN THE DIRECTORY: In addition to your Caller List, you can store up to 20 names and telephone numbers into memory For a one touch dialing of any of the stored telephone numbers. 1. Make sure that the Handset is on the Standby Mode. 2. Press the DIR button the LCD display shows PHONEBOOK. 3. Press the FLASH/EDIT button. 4. Use the telephone keypad (0-9) button to enter the name. You can store up to 15 characters. 5. Press the arrow cursor down once. 6. Enter the telephone number you want to store in the memory. You can store up to 16 digits. 7. Press the SAVE button. 8. Press the DIR button to return to standby mode. Note: If no activate buttons are pressed for 20 seconds , the LCD display will automatically return to Standby Mode. It will not save the duplicate telephone numb er or a name without the corresponding telephone number in the directory. NAME ENTRY TABLE: A. PREFERRED (VIP) CALLS. You can assign preferred call, which will generate a special ringer sound at the start of the second ring to any welcome caller in the directory. 1. Press the DIR button, the LCD display shows PHONEBOOK. 2. Press the arrow cursor up/down to find the caller. 3. Press the AMP button once, the LCD display “VIP ”. 4. Press the SAVE button to save. 5. Press the DIR button to return to standby mode. B. BLOCKED (REJECT) CALLS. You can assign a Block Call which will disabled the ringer sound from the second ring to any caller in the directory. 5 1. Press the DIR button, the LCD display shows PHONEBOOK. 2. Press the arrow cursor up/down to find the caller. 3. Press the AMP button twice, the LCD display “REJ ”. 4. Press the SAVE button to save. 5. Press the DIR button to return to standby mode. EDITING A STORED NAME AND NUMBER IN THE DIRECTORY: 1. Press the DIR button, the LCD display shows PHONEBOOK. 2. Press the arrow cursor up/down to find the name and telephone number to edit. 3. Press the FLASH/EDIT button to edit the name. 4. Press this button * / # left/right to edit the name you want. To erase, press the CHN/DEL button. 5. Press the arrow cursor up/down to edit the telephone number. 6. Press this button * / # left/right to edit the number you want. To erase, press the CHN/DEL button. To add, use the telephone keypad (0-9) button. 7. Press the SAVE button. 8. Press the DIR button to return to standby mode. Note: It is not advisable to save a telephone number without the corresponding name in the directory. This will lead to improper displays of name information. When no activate button are pressed for 20 seconds, the LCD display will automatically return to standby mode. EDITING THE TELEPHONE NUMBER IN THE DIRECTORY BEFORE DIALING: 1. Press the DIR button, and the LCD display shows PHONEBOOK. 2. Press the arrow cursor up/down to find the number you want to call. 3. Press the FLASH/EDIT button. 4. Press this button * / # left/right to find the number you want to change. To erase, press the CHN/DEL button. To add, use the telephone keypad (0-9) button. 5. Press the TALK button , the edited number is dialed automatically. Note: If you want to save the edited number in the directory, follow steps 1 through 5 then press the SAVE button. VIEWING THE DIRECTORY: 1. Press the DIR button, the LCD display shows PHONEBOOK. 2. Press the arrow cursor up/down to search the telephone number you have stored. 3. Press this button # if the name and telephone number is more than 11 digits. Note: You can exit in the Directory list, by pressing the DIR button. PLACING CALLS FROM THE DIRECTORY. 1. Press the DIR button, the LCD display shows PHONEBOOK. 2. Press the arrow cursor up/down to find the telephone number you want to call. 3. Press the TALK button. The unit will dial automatically. 4. To end the conversation, either press the TALK button or place the Handset back on the Base unit DELETING THE RECORDS IN THE DIRECTORY: A. Deleting Single Memory Location. 1. Press the DIR button, the LCD display shows PHONEBOOK. 2. Press the arrow cursor up/down to find the telephone number you want to delete. 3. Press the CHN/DEL button. The LCD display “ERASE ITEM ?” 4. Press the CHN/DEL button again to delete the telephone number. 5. Press the DIR button to return to standby mode.
6FLASH FUNCTION: Used to access custom calling features such as Call Waiting or Three-Way Calling provided by your telephone company, FLASH button can also be used to restore a dial tone to make a new call. CHANNEL SELECTION: (40 Channels) A. AUTO CHANNEL SCAN. When you transmit or receive a call, Talk button in the Handset must be pressed, the unit can auto-scans for clear channel. B. MANUAL CHANNEL SCAN. If the existing channel becomes noisy or having interference, you can either move closer to the Base unit or press the CHN button on the Handset until better reception is found. OUT OF RANGE WARNING: 1. The Handset and Base unit can communicate up to a certain maximum range. The distance can be affected by weather, power lines, or even other cordless telephones. 2. If the distance away from the Base unit, the Handset beeps on and “OUT RANGE” is shown on the LCD display to warn you that the background noise level is to high for proper communication between the Handset and the Base unit. 3. If “OUT RANGE” is being displayed, move closer to the Base unit, otherwise the call will automatically cut off after 20 seconds. LOW BATTERY WARNING: 1. When the Handset battery voltage level is low. The Handset LCD display “LOW BATTERY ” in standby mode. 2. In TALK mode, the Handset will beep every 12 seconds. 3. Return the Handset on the Base cradle to recharge. CALLER ID OPERATION: This unit will automatically displays incoming caller’s name and telephone number together with the date and time of the call. It records 40 calls and stores the date in memory. Note: To utilize this feature you must subscribe the Caller ID service from your telephone company. Viewing Call information during Incoming Calls: When there is incoming call , the name and telephone number of the caller will automatically appear before the second ring. Press the arrow cursor # to view the name. Caller Name Telephone number Time Number of RPT calls Month/Day Number of calls record OR: Caller’s telephone number will appear if the caller’s name is not available. OR: “OUT OF AREA” will appear if the origin of the incoming call does not support Caller ID system OR: “UNKNOWN” will appear if the origin of the incoming call has no name and does not support Caller ID system. OR: “PRIVATE” and / or “… … …” will appear if the caller’s name and / or telephone number is blocked. OR: “ERROR” will appear if wrong data was received from the line. 7 “MSG” (MESSAGE WAITING) This functions requires Voice Mail subscription from the local telephone company. Furthermore, the local phone company must provide a type of voice mail signaling called “FSK” (Frequency Shift Key). Not all telephone companies have the visual message waiting feature available. Please contact your telephone company to check if this is available in your area. If you subscribe to Voice Mail from the telephone company and if there are voice messages that have been left in your Voice Mailbox, the display will show “MSG WAITING ” Note: If you wish to delete the “Message Waiting ” message, see page 11 for details. CALL WAITING: In order to use the “Call Waiting Caller ID ” service you must subscribe to a telephone company that offers Caller ID service combined with “Call Waiting ” service. Note: When a new call comes in while you are talking, you will hear a notification beep from the handset and the volume is momentarily muted. The new caller’s name and phone number, if available, appears on the display. Once “FLASH ” has been pressed, an “L2 ” in the lower right corner indicates the Call Waiting Caller ID caller so you can keep track of who you are talking to. 1. When you receive a Call Waiting call and you want to connect the call, press FLASH button. The first caller will be placed on hold and the new caller will be active. 2. Press the FLASH button to alternate the conversation between the two callers. 3. Press the TALK button to end the call or place the Handset back on the Base unit. “C-F” (Call Forwarding) Appears on the upper left side when the incoming call has been assigned to your telephone number. “C-F-B (Call Forwarding Busy) “L-D-C” (Long Distance Call) Appears on the upper left side when the incoming call is a long distance call, this service is provided by your Telephone company. CALLER LIST: This features can record call information up to 40 incoming calls such as Caller’s name and telephone number together with the date and duration time of the call, after recording a new incoming call , the LCD will shown as below: Number of new calls Max. calls = 40 1. Press the arrow cursor up/down. 2. Press the arrow cursor down to view the first record, press this button # if the name is more than 11 digits. 3. Press the DIR button to return to standby mode. Note: If no active button has been pressed for 20 seconds, or you have viewed the last record in the Caller list, the LCD display will automatically return to standby mode. 8MAKING A CALL FROM THE CALLER LIST: 1. Press the arrow cursor up/down to select the current / latest record. 2. Press the keypad “0” button to select call number. 3. Press the TALK button to start conversation. 4. To end your conversation, either press TALK button or place the Handset back on the Base unit. Note: You can edit the number before dialing, but you can not save any changes in the Caller List. The caller name and the time called can not be edited. 1. Press the arrow cursor up/down to find the caller. 2. Press the SAVE button. The LCD display “SAVED ”. 3. Press the DIR button to return to standby mode. Note: It is not advisable to save a telephone number without the corresponding name in the Directory. This will lead to improper display of name information. DELETING RECORDS IN THE CALLER LIST: A. Deleting Single Memory Location. 1. Press the arrow cursor up/down to find the caller in the standby mode. 2. Press the CHN/DEL button . The LCD display will shows “ERASE ITEM ?”. 3. To delete the record press CHN/DEL button. 4. Press DIR button to return to standby mode. Note: New calls which has not been reviewed will not be deleted. FUNCTION OPERATION: This unit contains the following special functions: A. LANGUAGE B. FIRST RING ON/OFF C. TIME SET D. AREA CODE E. CONTRAST F. PBX NUMBER G. PBX MODE ON/OFF H. PAUSE TIME I. MESSAGE WAITING J. RING HI/LOW/OFF K. PRIVATE RING L. AMPLIFIER SETTING M. AUTO ANSWER To access the special Function Operation, press and hold the “AMP” button at standby mode and then press the telephone keypad (1-9) or press the arrow cursor up/down. A. SETTING THE LANGUAGE: This unit offers English, Spanish and French languages for your convenience. 1. Press and hold the AMP button until the LCD display shows RING HI. 2. Press the telephone keypad button 2 or press the arrow cursor up/down. 3. Press the FLASH/EDIT button. 4. Press the arrow cursor up/down to select the language you desired. English is the preset language. 5. Press the SAVE button. 6. Press the AMP button to return to standby mode.
9 B. FIRST RING ON/OFF: This unit will generate the first ring sound even in the Blocked Call mode, you can turn off the first ring sound. 1. Press and hold the AMP button until the LCD display shows RING HI. 2. Press the telephone keypad 3 button or press the arrow cursor up/down. 3. Press the FLASH/EDIT button. 4. Press the arrow cursor up/down to select the mode. Silent off is the preset mode. 5. Press the SAVE button. 6. Press the AMP button to return to standby mode. C. SETTING THE TIME AND DATE: This unit enables to set the Time and Date: 1. Press and hold the AMP button until the LCD display shows RING HI. 2. Press the telephone keypad 4 button or press the arrow cursor up/down. 3. Press the FLASH/EDIT button. Use the telephone keypad button to enter the month, date, hour, minute. The cursor moves automatically after entering each item. 4. Press the telephone keypad 1 button for AM or press the telephone keypad 2 button for PM setting. 5. Press the AMP button to return to standby mode. Note: The Date and Time will automatically set if you have subscribed the Caller ID from your telephone company. D. SETTING THE AREA CODE: This unit enables to set the Area Code. 1. Press and hold the AMP button until the LCD display shows RING HI. 2. Press the telephone keypad 5 button or press the arrow cursor up/down. 3. Press the FLASH/EDIT button. Use the telephone keypad button to enter the Area Code. (Area Code should be 3 digits only). 4. Press the SAVE button. 5. Press the AMP button to return to standby mode. Note: Do not use the Area Code programming if you are required to dial 10 digits (XXX-XXX-XXXX) to dial a local number. E. ADJUSTING THE CONTRAST: This unit enables to select 3 brightness level for the LCD display. 1. Press and hold the AMP button until the LCD display shows RING HI. 2. Press the telephone keypad 6 button or press the arrow cursor up/down. 3. Press the FLASH/EDIT button. 4. Press the arrow cursor up/down to adjust the brightness of the LCD display. Level 2 is the preset brightness. 5. Press the SAVE button. 6. Press the AMP button to return to standby mode. F. SETTING THE PBX NUMBER: This unit enables to preset the PBX number from 0 - 9 while you are using switchboard system. 1. Press and hold the AMP button until the LCD display shows RING HI. 2. Press the telephone keypad 7 button or press the arrow cursor up/down. 3. Press the FLASH/EDIT button. 4. Press the arrow cursor up/down to select the desired PBX number. PBX number 9 is the preset number. 5. Press the SAVE button. 6. Press the AMP button to return to standby mode. Note: The number programmed here is not active unless PBX mode is ON.
10 G. TURNING PBX MODE ON/OFF: This unit enables to turn ON/ OFF the PBX system depending on the telephone system you are using. 1. Press and hold the AMP button until the LCD display RING HI. 2. Press the telephone keypad 8 button or press the arrow cursor up/down. 3. Press the FLASH/EDIT button. 4. Press the arrow cursor up/down for: PBX MODE OFF -Setting for direct line access. (The preset PBX Mode is OFF). PBX MODE ON - Setting when connected to switchboard system. 5. Press the SAVE button. 6. Press the AMP button to return to standby mode. Note: You do not need PBX mode unless you need to dial a specific single digit number before each outgoing call. H. SETTING THE PAUSE TIME: This unit enables to adjust the Pause Time for dialing on a switchboard system or a long distance call. 1. Press and hold the AMP button until the LCD display shows RING HI. 2. Press the telephone keypad 9 button or press the arrow cursor up/down. 3. Press the FLASH/EDIT button. 4. Press the arrow cursor up/down to adjust the Pause Time. 2 seconds is the preset Pause Time. 5. Press the SAVE button. 6. Press the AMP button to return to standby mode. I. DELETING MESSAGE WAITING: This unit enables to delete the Message Waiting icon in the LCD display. 1. Press and hold the AMP button until the LCD display shows RING HI. 2. Press the telephone keypad 10 button or press the arrow cursor up/down. 3. Press the FLASH/EDIT button. 4. Press the SAVE button to delete the Message Waiting icon in the LCD display. 5. Press the AMP button to return to standby mode. Note: Message Waiting icon on the LCD display will automatically turn on, if you have subscribed to Voice Mail Message service and Visual Message Indication from your telephone company. J. SETTING RING MODE HI/LOW/OFF: This unit enables to select Hi/Low/Off mode. 1. Press and hold the AMP button until the LCD display shows RING HI. 2. Press the FLASH/EDIT button. 3. Press the arrow cursor up/down to select the mode. “RING HI ” is the preset mode. 4. Press the SAVE button. 5. Press the AMP button to return to standby mode. K. PRIVATE RING: This unit enables to turn On/Off the ring for all calls where the caller has blocked their caller ID. 1. Press and hold the AMP button until the LCD display shows RING HI. 2. Press the cursor arrow up/down. 3. Press the FLASH/EDIT button. 4. Press the arrow cursor up/down to select the mode. Private Ring On is a preset mode. 5. Press the SAVE button. 6. Press the AMP button to return to standby mode. Note: The phone will ring once when set to “Off ” unless first ring is also set to “Off ”.
11 L. SETTING THE AMPLIFIER ON/OFF: This unit enables to set the On/Off for the desired clarity hearing. 1. Press and hold the AMP button until the LCD display shows RING HI. 2. Press the arrow cursor down the LCD display shows AMPLIFIER ON. 3. Press the FLASH/EDIT button. 4. Press the arrow cursor up/down to select the mode. Amplifier On is the preset mode. 5. Press the SAVE button. 6. Press the AMP button to return to standby mode. M. SETTING THE AUTO ANSWER ON/OFF: 1. Press and hold the AMP button, until the LCD display shows RING HI. 2. Press the “*” button or press the arrow cursor up/down. 3. Press the FLASH/EDIT button. 4. Press the arrow cursor up/down to select the mode. Auto Answer On is the preset mode. 5. Press the SAVE button. 6. Press the AMP button to return to standby mode.
